Pinless, non-invasive scan meters measure moisture in a threedimensional field below the measuring pad up to 3/4” deep.Lignomat’s dual-depth meters can measure 1/4” and 3/4” deep.The pinless advantage: A lot of measurements can be taken in ashort time without leaving pin holes. However, pinless meterscannot measure round or oddly shaped products accurately.

If checking wood, the Ligno-Scanners indicate true moisture valuesin percent corrected for different species. If checking other materi-als, relative scales are available in Compare and Search Mode.

Pin meters measure the electrical resistance between two pins.The main advantage is versatility. All thicknesses from veneer tothick logs can be measured. Pins are available up to 7” long.

If your concern is core moisture in thicker wood, we recommend apin meter with electrode E12 (page 8, 10). Adding the E12 allowsmeasuring a moisture gradient within the material. Pins up to 2”.

For pin mode we offer handheld meters, data loggers and wirelesstransmitters.

Thermo-Hygrometers measure relative humidity and temperature.Our RH meters indicate RH, T plus Dew Point and Grains per Pound.

mini-Lignos measure all thicknesses from veneerto 6/4 lumber. For core measurements in thickerwood, a fresh cut is needed. When cutting thewood is not feasible, choose mini-Lignos S/DC,DX/C or C and add the slide hammer electrodeE12 with teflon-coated pins up to 2” deep.

The pinless Advantage:A large number of boards can be scanned in a short time without leaving pin holes.No effort is needed to insert pins into hard wood.Pinless meters can read lower moisture values in hardwood than pin meters.

Two Limitations come with pinless Meters:Round and oddly shaped wood cannot be measured. Scanners require at least oneflat surface. Thickness of wood matters. For boards thinner than the specifiedmeasuring depth, measurements may be too low. When measuring thicker boards,consider that the measuring depth is limited to 3/4”.

Unique dual-depth: The standard measuringdepth for pinless meters is 3/4” deep. Why drilling is necessaryThe RH in-situ test offers the mostreliable results for concretemoisture testing to determine, ifa floor covering can be installedor adhesive or epoxy applied.Other methods measure too closeto the surface and miss highmoisture levels in the middle ofthe slab. The excess moisture canrise to the surface once the slab iscovered and can cause floorcovering failures.
