It seems like we have all easily fallen back into the daily routine of the new school year. We’re waking up on time (for some of us, maybe not) and replaced cartoon watching on the couch with solving math problems at a desk. The Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) is here to make a change for our school, just like a tree goes from green to golden yellow this time of year. Our goal is to unify our students, their families, and the Park School Campus staff, while helping raise funds to enrich our children’s education and overall school experience. This past month was proof that we’re unified! By attending an event or donating your time to assist, you’re helping us get one step closer to reaching our goals. A huge thank you to everyone that attended and participated in the Back to School Pool Party, School Supply Pack Pick-up/Popsicle Welcome, Boohoo/Yahoo Breakfast, PTO Meeting, Culver’s Dinner Night, Munchkins with Mom, Movie Night, Book Fair, and Penn Station Dinner Night. Thank you for supporting your school and child’s education by purchasing Spiritwear and KidStuff Coupon Books last month as well. The school year is off to a great start and we have you to thank for that! We couldn’t do it without your help and support! We have some great events planned for the coming month - Craft the Day Away, Craft & Vendor Fair, 5th Grade Halloween Ice Cream Social, 6-8th Grade Halloween Dance, 3K Color Walk/Run, Donuts with Dad, and more. Look for more details in the coming weeks! Don’t forget to like us on Facebook and check out our website. Not only can you find a wealth of information on our website, but you can purchase Spiritwear items, send a surprise message to your child with a scented pencil, sign-up to volunteer at an event, find copies of forms and fliers, or make a donation! Remember to check with your employer too - many offer gift matching programs. We encourage you to send us your comments and suggestions. We love hearing from you! Matt Melamed, Principal David Dinsmore, Assistant Principal October 6, 2016 Dear Park School Parents and Guardians, A number of Fall Festival activities are planned for October 28th at Park School, including: K-4th grade students will be able to wear ‘base’ costumes to school on Friday, October 28th. Please remember that there are a limited number of adults to help assist students with their costumes. Costumes worn to school should be comfortable and conducive to learning. Please only wear the ‘base’ of your costume (pants and shirt) for the whole day as the rest of the costume will be put on after lunch. When helping your child choose a costume, please remember weapons and other suggestions of overt violence are not allowed. Please keep in mind some families are deeply offended by the representation of witches, ghosts, vampires, devils, werewolves, and goblins. A parade for A.M. Kindergarten classes is scheduled from 10:45-11:10. All AM and Full-Day Kindergarten parents are welcome to observe the parade by standing along the perimeter of the hallways around our media center. A costume parade for students in grades 1st-4th, Full-Day Kindergarten, and afternoon Kindergarten will occur from 1:50 to 2:10 P.M. We hope you can join us to observe the parade! The parade route is scheduled to take place through the main hallways. All parents are welcome to observe the PM parade by standing along the perimeter of the hallways around our media center. A map of the parade route is included in this packet. Please remember to enter through the West/Main entrance and sign in at the front office. Classroom celebrations are scheduled to begin after each parade. The AM celebration will be held from 10:00-10:45 and all afternoon K-4th grade classroom celebrations are from approximately 2:15-2:55 P.M. In order to prepare for dismissal, we ask parent party volunteers to leave our parking lots by 2:55 P.M. Parents taking children home before 3:05 are asked to sign them out through the school office. Please also keep in mind that D46 Policy no longer allows classroom celebrations to include food of any sort. Thank you in advance for helping us enforce this policy. If your child is unable to participate in these celebration activities, please contact the Park School Campus office. We are happy to plan other activities in which your child can participate. As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please call us at (847) 201-7010. For specific questions regarding classroom celebrations, please contact your child’s teacher. Sincerely, Matt Melamed David Dinsmore
