You are asked to please provide home bake for the students (and officials!) morning tea. Lunch will be available to be bought at the canteen on the day, courtesy of the P&C. A menu with prices will sent home later in the week.
A copy of the Sports Day Program is attached to this newsletter.
On the topic of sports, please note that our Small Schools Sports Day will be held on Monday 6th August at the Stanthorpe State High School Oval. This day is for students turning 9 years old this year and older. Parents are expected to transport their children on the day. As a change from previous years when the day has been very busy, the 800 metre races will be held on Wednesday of the previous week, 1st August at the High School Oval, commencing at around 3:30pm. A program is expected soon.
The Dental Van is still at our school and has seen many students through the holidays. Further appointments are being made directly with parents/carers. The school staff doesn’t have a list of appointments so we are not in a position to confirm appointment times. Please contact the dental van personnel directly for further information about any appointments made or required.
School grounds maintenance commenced during the holidays. The bushland fire hazard reduction was commenced with the Rural Fire Brigade working with the contractor to make stacks of the fallen timber ready for a burn. The actual burn was delayed because of the welcome rain as well as the green state of some of the stacked timber. The burn is now scheduled for later this week, weather (wind and rain) permitting.
Students are participating in Tennis coaching again this year. The coaching commences this week and continues for 6 weeks. The sessions will usually be on Fridays, but this week because of our School Athletics Sports Day on Friday, tennis coaching will be on Thursday so the students don’t miss out. School Project Club will be kicking off with their fund-raising for Term 3 next week (Week 2). The funds will be used for buying “Technicio” technology so that all students will have more opportunity to animate their origami. The fund-raising will take the form of providing a “Milo and Home Bake” morning tea once a week (on Wednesday) for a gold coin. To have Milo, we would ask that each child bring to school a mug – normal sized, not enormous! It would be best if the cup/mug is named and washed each week and stays at school for the term. For the home bake, a year level will be rostered each week to provide enough for at least one piece per student (40 students). The proposed roster for home bake is: Week 2 Year 6 25th July Week 3 Year 5 1st August Week 4 Year 4 8th August Week 5 Year 3 15th August Week 6 Year 6 22nd August Week 7 Year 5 29th August Week 8 Year 4 5th September Week 9 Year 3 12th September Week 10Year 6 19th September We are looking forward to delicious Wednesday morning teas for Term 3!

CODE OF CONDUCT
STUDENTS CODE OF BEHAVIOUR PARENTS’ CODE OF BEHAVIOUR
Compete to the best of your ability. Never argue with an official. The officials’ decision
is final. Control your temper. Verbal abuse of officials or
other competitors, deliberately distracting or provoking others is not acceptable or permitted in any sport.
Be a good sport. Applaud all efforts by other competitors.
Treat other competitors as you would like to be treated yourself.
Co-operate with staff members and officials. Compete for the fun of the competition, not to
please other people.
Remember that children play sport for their enjoyment, not yours.
Encourage children to participate, do not force them.
Focus on the child’s efforts and performance rather than winning or losing.
Encourage children to participate according to the rules.
Never ridicule or yell at a child for making a mistake during an event.
Remember that children learn best by example. Support all efforts to remove verbal and physical
abuse from sporting activities. Respect officials’ decisions and teach children to
do likewise. Show appreciation of volunteer coaches, officials
and administrators. Without them, your children could not participate.
