Pronounce Māori words correctly when speaking English Learn a little, use a little Learn more, and use what you know Keep improving your language, and share what you know Enrolments for Secondary Schools for 2021 - These should have been completed already. Contact the school if you have not yet had confirmation of your enrolment application. To ensure a smooth transition for our Year Eight students who are moving on to secondary school in 2021, we will be sharing information with high schools. This is essential for the secondary schools as they make decisions around class placements. Student achievement levels and information about learning support which has been in place at Shirley Intermediate will be passed on. If you would like more details about this please contact: Tamara Drew, Learning Support Coordinator- [email protected] or 385 2229 ext 718. Enrolments at SIS for 2021 Enrolments should be completed by Friday 23 October (Week two of term four). This will help tremendously with our transition process. Being informed about a child helps us to provide appropriate support, to arrange class placements, and begin to form a learning-focused relationship with your child and whanau. During term four we will be inviting the 2021 new pupils and parents/caregivers to attend an Introduction session with one of our leadership team. Health Curriculum Consultation At least once every two years, boards of trustees are required to produce a written statement about how the school will implement health education. The legislation requires schools to:

● inform the school community about the content of the health education components of the curriculum. We are currently reviewing our health curriculum and will be publishing a statement on our website, and in a special notice for parents/caregivers.

● We will invite feedback and suggestions from our community.

We will present the two year health programme including the section on puberty which will be delivered to children later in term four

AIMS Sports Tournament 

Our football team is taking part in the sports event with other intermediate teams from Canterbury. Well done to the

team and Mr Flanagan - their coach. Tomorrow (Thursday) they play in the finals day.

It has been great having the tamariki from Te Tikanga Rua Reo (part of St Albans School) joining our own Te Tahu Rua Reo practising for their combined performance in term four. He iwi tahi tatou! We are one group. Matua Thomas is shown teaching haka moves while the girls are outside practising poi. I think it's cool to be in TTRR because you learn Maori Kei tawhiti a TTRR na te mea, ka ako koe i te reo Māori. Nevaeh Y8 T.T.R.R It is special to be in T.T.R.R because we get to learn a whole new language. He motuhake a T.T.R.R nā te mea, ka āhei ki te ako i te reo hou. It is special to be in T.T.R.R because every is like a whanau. He whānau kotahi tātou o T.T.R.R - Ellie Y8 T.T.R.R TTRR is so special because we get to learn Te Reo Maori He motuhake rawa a T.T.R.R nā te mea, ka akona Te Reo Māori. I like it because Matua Teaches us to speak Maori. He pai ki ahau, i te mea, ka akiaki a Matua i a koe ki te kōrero i te reo Māori. I love doing the extra things that the other classes don’t usually do. He aroha nōku ki ngā mahi, kāore e nui te mahitia atu e ēra akomanga. Dasha Y7 T.T.R.R TTRR is very important because it can help preserve this very important dying language. He wāhi motuhake a T.T.R.R, i te mea, he āwhina nui ki te whakarauora anō i te reo Māori. We are very lucky to have a maori class. Most schools don’t even have one. Waimarie mātou, he akomanga reo rua tō mātou, ko te nuinga o ngā kura, kāore he akomanga māori o rātou. Jaz Y8 T.T.R.R I like to be in the TTRR because there are a lot of things to do like have fun with freinds,were a competitive class we run around the school at 10:00,12:00,2:00, our teacher is the best teacher ever he like to win every thing from big to small.- JAHVANI
