COMPANY PROFILE

V.V.Karunaratne & Company was registered on the 1st of December 1986 as a partnershipcompany and is one of the leading establishments in Sri Lanka engaged in the fields ofTransportation and Logistics, Customs Clearing and Forwarding, Container Warehousing,Building Construction, Road Development, Aluminium Fabrication etc.

The Company is very proud to declare that the construction section has been among a fewcompanies that are in possession of the highest level in grading (i.e) Grade C1 by the Institutefor Construction, Training And Development (ICTAD), the governing body of the constructionindustry in Sri Lanka. The Company has successfully completed several multi million buildingconstruction projects and Road Development projects awarded by the Government of SriLanka and also several large Private sector projects in the past. Currently, the Company isinvolved in several Road Development projects and building projects funded by AsianDevelopment Bank and other overseas donors under the implementation of Rehabilitationschemes.

The Aluminium fabrication section of the Company runs parallel with the buildingconstruction. All the materials of Aluminium are imported and of the highest standards. TheAluminium Fabrication Section is highly professionalized, having well qualified and overseastrained engineers manning the projects.

The Transport section contains the largest asset base of the Company. The vehicle fleet of theCompany is arguably the largest of its kind in the Country. There are Prime Movers, 40’and 20’Trailers, Full bodied, Half bodied, Open and Flat-Bed lorries, Container Carriers, Fork Lifts,Tippers, Bowsers, Concrete Mixer Trucks and Construction Machinery The client networkcomprises of several multi-nationals, major public and private sector companies, medium andsmall scale industries and trading community across the country.

The Customs House Clearing and Wharf section of the Company is well equipped with anexperienced and professional team, hat compliments the transport section to form aneffective logistics network. The clearing and wharf staff are capable of handling any type ofshipment and have been widely acclaimed for their honesty, punctuality and performance.

The Company with a futuristic view has planned for expansion in related fields anddiversification into other trades. Focusing towards grandeur, the Company has incorporatedseveral limited liability Companies such as, VVK Maritime Agencies (Pvt.) Ltd., VVK AluconIndustries (Pvt.) Ltd., VVK International Logistics (Pvt.) Ltd. and VVK Machinery & Equipment(Pvt.) Ltd., under the umbrella of V.V.Karunaratne & Co.

The management structure of the organization is headed by the Chairman Mr.V.V.Karunaratne,whose experience and knowledge in the fields of construction and transportation could bematched by only a few in the country. Mr. Karunaratne’s sons have also now entered thefamily business and contribute towards the professionalism and hi-tech knowledge that isrequired for a flourishing business.
