How It Works
The Collection Utility
After signing up, download a small data collection utility and run it on any Windows machine. The
utility will prompt you for the name or IP address of the vCenter servers, and the credentials of a
vSphere user with read-only rights and access to the entire vSphere scope (we cannot access
your credentials).
Submitting for Analysis
Submit the data directly from the utility or by logging in to the cloud portal. Your data is transferred
over an encrypted tunnel to a write-only storage-space and then moved to a separate secure
location. To ensure complete privacy, a dedicated compute instance is created to analyze your data.
Once the analysis completes this instance is deleted.
The utility uses the VMware VI API to perform a short series of “get” commands, querying
information related to datacenters, datastores, ESX hosts and clusters, VMs, Networking and
Extensions. If the SRM or Zerto extension is discovered. the utility will also read additional
configuration information using the SRM SOAP API or the Zerto Rest API. The collected data is
saved to a zipped XML file that can be reviewed before uploading to our secure cloud portal.
About the Collected Data
It only takes a few simple steps to learn about your vSphere resiliency and virtual infrastructure stability.
» vSphere 3.5 and above» Windows Server 2008 R2 Standard or Enterprise Edition 64-bit» Java Runtime Environment 8 (Win 64-bit)» Minimum: 2CPU, 4GB RAM and 40GB free disk space
» Target Environment: Production vCenter with at least 30 ESXi hosts» Parallel submissions are not supported. Additinal submission is allowed once a report was generated» VDI not recommended for vCenter with over 200 ESXi hosts
