It was her first marathon, and she says it changed her life! In addition to Nadia’s support, you will receive a Fundraising Toolkit. We have helped over 1,500 people reach their fundraising targets, and the Toolkit is a compilation of the most successful ideas, case studies, advice and practical suggestions to keep you motivated and on track to achieving your goals.

The Fundraising Toolkit will show you how to:

• Plan an event

• Write a press release

• Set up an online fundraising page

• Approach corporates for support

• Launch your fundraising plan

Fitness TrainingWe will send you a book with advice on preparing for the London Marathon, and former “non-runner” Nadia, having run two marathons since joining Inspired Adventures, will share with you her experience, advice and tips. While your fitness training and health is your responsibility, we are always here to guide you all the way to the finish line. We advise all participants to discuss their training plans with their GP before embarking on a fitness regime.

“At Inspired

Adventures we believe that we are all capable of far more than

we imagine, and specialise in guiding and motivating participants to push their limits and raise money for a wonderful

cause. We are excited to partner with the Heart Foundation in Western Australia for the Virgin Money London Marathon 2014, and

look forward to working with you to help this incredible organisation achieve its vision.”

- Justine Curtis, Director, Inspired Adventures

“I ran for charity and joined a team of 50 Australian

fundraisers on the start line in Staten Island. That morning will stay with me for the rest of my life. I was filled with

energy, pride and confidence – all a result of fundraising for a great cause, and training for a great distance. I was ready! I had made it – the finish line was just a formality. I literally danced through the streets of New York that day. It has shaped who I am today and I will guide you

to the same life-changing success.”

- Nadia Menzies, Account Manager Inspired Adventures

Your involvement in the London Marathon can ensure the Heart Foundation can continue its ground breaking heart research to save Australians of all ages. Heart disease does not only affect older Australians, which is a common perception in the Australian community. Unfortunately, it is also affecting the very young, and the Heart Foundation is undertaking vital research into heart conditions, such as enlarged hearts, that does affect children, without any warning.

Below is the story of Bobby, “A hero in the making.”

Bobby was described by friends as “a hero in the making.”

Will you be a hero too?

There was no warning, no symptoms to suggest that Bobby Kupsch was anything other than a healthy, active, sports-loving 14-year-old boy. He was a school captain, a champion football player, and was described by his mate Keiran as “a hero in the making.”

But in February last year, Bobby’s mum Jo returned from the gym one morning to hear a blood-curdling scream from Bobby’s sister, Bridgette.

“Bobby wasn’t waking up and was a funny colour. I asked one of Bobby’s sisters to call an ambulance, and as I’m a trained mothercraft nurse, I started CPR. But from his colouring and the stiffness of his limbs … I knew.

“I kept going with CPR until the paramedics arrived. I could tell by their faces, they knew too. My son had earned his Angel Wings.”

Bobby died because he had an enlarged heart. A condition that nobody knew he had. Nothing can ever prepare a family for the loss of a son or brother. When you watch this video of Bobby’s story, you’ll be inspired his family’s bravery – and their hope for the future.

What gives the Kupsch family hope today is research.

Research like the project led by Professor Stephen Harrap, which could result in the development of a test to detect enlarged heart.

If there’d been a screening test for this condition, Bobby might still be with us – and he might be still on his way

to becoming the hero his friends knew he would be. But with your help, something good can come from this tragedy. As Jo Kupsch says:

“If we can help make sure another family doesn’t go through what we have, then Bobby’s death won’t have been for nothing.”

Research funded by the Heart Foundation, from the gifts of people like you, has led to medical breakthroughs that have saved the lives of thousands of Australians. But there’s still so much to do.

For the sake of families like Bobby’s, critical heart research must continue. By raising funds for the Heart Foundation in Western Australia you will be a hero not only to the Kupsch family, but to thousands of families affected by heart disease every day.
