Dear NFIB Member: November 4, 2014 is an important day for all small-business owners in Ohio. YOU will have a critical role in determining if our state will continue the economic recovery we have been experiencing these past four years, or potentially slide back into an era of higher taxes, more burdensome regulations and a state government that doesn’t understand the fundamental importance of living within its means. Our involvement in each race is determined by our 25,000 members across Ohio. YOU serve as an integral part of our endorsement process. In deciding whether to endorse a candidate for a public office, factors such as the candidate’s NFIB/Ohio Voting Record, responses to candidate questionnaires, and personal interviews with your fellow members with candidates are all taken into consideration. In 2014 NFIB/Ohio will play a significant part in the election of the governor, attorney general, members of the Ohio Congressional delegation, two associate justices to the Ohio Supreme Court, and many of our state senators and representatives. This guide that you hold in your hands highlights NFIB/Ohio SAFE Trust-endorsed pro-business candidates. Our election guide can be a powerful tool for YOU to help share your influence with others. The race for Ohio Governor is front and center, setting the tone in Ohio for the next four years. NFIB is endorsing JOHN KASICH for re-election as the best pro-small business candidate in the race for Ohio Governor. The Ohio Attorney General also plays a significant role in making Ohio business friendly, and NFIB endorses MIKE DEWINE for re-election to this post. It is also important that we preserve an Ohio Supreme Court that interprets the law rather than attempts to legislate from the bench. To maintain stability in our legal system, the NFIB/Ohio SAFE Trust has endorsed JUSTICE SHARON KENNEDY and JUSTICE JUDITH FRENCH to retain their seats on the Ohio Supreme Court as associate justices. Dozens of fellow NFIB members throughout the state have made tremendous sacrifices to run for office, while numerous others have volunteered their time, energy and resources to campaigns and candidates. U.S. House 12th Congressional District Genoa TownshipCongressman Pat Tiberi works to produce real results for Ohio residents. He believes families and small-business owners know better than the federal government how to spend their hard-earned money and he fights to protect their wallets. He has worked to allow Ohio to better compete in attracting new jobs. He is also leading the fight to reform pork barrel spending by not requesting a Congressional earmark since 2007.
