If your child's teacher has talked with you about concerns they have concerning your child's progress please make sure you are working with them everyday. These are our last months to push hard to get child where they need to be so they are successful in the coming years. The thing that you can do that is most important is to read with your child everyday. If they are behind in their reading they need to practicing reading on the weekends also. We are pushing your child hard at school but we need your help also. If you have concerns and have not heard from your child's teacher in a while please contact them for a conference and see where your child is and how you might be able to help them at home. SAFETY M ISCELLANEOUS IMPORTANT DATES Safety for your child is always of concern to us. Please do not drop your child off in the parking lots and let them walk across by themselves. Cars may not see them and the last thing we want is a t ragedy. We have also added a sign as you enter the bus area reminding everyone that it is illegal to pass a bus that is unloading students even on school property. Remember you can drop you child off in the bus area only after all the buses and daycares have drop off which is about 7:25. There is no one in that area to monitor them if you choose to drop them off there. We are all busy and in an hurry but our children's safety always comes first. Looking for Career Day Volunteers On April 24th we will be having our Career Day for our 3rd - 5th graders. We would love to have parents to come and present to our students about their different careers . If you are interested and able to help us please contact the counselor Michele Casteel at [email protected] Student Independence With only 11 weeks of school left we are still working on independence with some of our students. If you are walking your students to their classrooms each morning we would like to ask that you allow them to walk down by themselves for the remainder of the year. This will allow them to gain independence and feel good about their accomplishment. PTA NEWS

Our PTA continues to help our school with so many needed things. A few things they help with are:

* assisting with students getting out of the cars in the mornings

* help with traffic issues

* fundraising for materials our campus needs and outside play things for the students to enjoy

* providing playground equipment

* helping in the library

* planning activities

* and so many other things

Please consider being a part of PTA if you are not already. You don't have to help in all areas just find something that you are interested in and help in that way. It takes a village!

Attendance

Your child's attendance is important! We realize that this is cold and flu season and we are doing everything we can at school to keep your child

well. We remind students each day about washing their hands frequently and encourage

them to use the hand sanitizers in the foyer each morning and each afternoon. If your child is not

sick please make sure they are at school each day. Every day they miss they are missing

important instruction. So many skills build on each other and each day they miss they are

missing building blocks to be successful.

STAAR Test ing Coming Up

We will soon be in STAAR test ing season. These state mandated test are for our 3rd-5th graders only. On these days we are not allowed to have parents or any visitors
