Better known for? 9. Thích Quảng Đức was a Vietnamese Mahayana Buddhist monk who sacrificed himself at the busy Saigon road intersection on 11 June 1963 while protesting against the Roman Catholic persecution of Buddhists by South Vietnam's Ngo Dinh Diem Roman Catholic administration.
Accounts of the life of Thich Quang Duc are derived from information disseminated by Buddhist organizations.
After his death, his body was re-cremated, but his heart remained intact. This was interpreted as a symbol of compassion and led Buddhists to revere him as a bodhisattva, heightening the impact of his death on the public psyche.

X & Y 14.
X was first mentioned in a 1985 New York Magazine article to describe ‘core’ members Emilio Estevez, Anthony Michael Hall, Rob Lowe, Andrew McCarthy, Demi Moore, Judd Nelson, Molly Ringwald, and Ally Sheedy who frequently appeared in teen-oriented coming of age movies of the 80s.The actors hated this term Y and claim that it was one of the main reasons why none of their careers took off in spite of having good starts.
Along the same lines, Ben Stiller, Jack Black, Owen Wilson, Luke Wilson, Will Ferrell, Vince Vaughn, and Steve Carell are collectively known as Y which was first used by USA Today in September 2004. It is an allusion and is reference to their most popular movie Old School and the sophomoric style of humour used in most of their films.

X & Y? *20. X debuted in 1952 in Gemini’s hindi film Mr.Sampat.
After a few hit songs, his career actually took off when he started to sing for Y. This association with Y went on for years to gather critical acclaim, fans and some of the most stylized songs of Kannada cinema. Stylized meaning songs that didn’t depend on classical ragas, but which experimented with all kinds of tonal and orchestral colour.
But in 1974, Y was given a chance to sing his own songs. He took the opportunity and turned out to be a brilliant singer giving the major hit- ‘Yaare Kogadali’ Hence, X was shunned and pretty much stopped getting many offers. In due course, Y ultimately also won the National Award for Best Playback Singer Male in 1993 while X struggled.
Like Mukesh, X was known was his melancholic heaviness, his songs could handle light songs but he excelled in the sad ones. Y was the opposite capable of great vivacity and bringing energy into the song.

In 1896 Olympics, no track and field events had been won by Greece, and the interests for this event was heightened by this fact. Spyridon "Spyros" Louis, a water carrier, was encouraged to participate by Colonel Papadiamantopoulos, who gave the starting signal for the small field of 17 (13 Greeks). Spyros went on to win the event, making him Greece’s first medalist.
An excerpt from an official report of the Games:Here the Olympic Victor was received with full honour; the King rose from his seat and congratulated him most warmly on his success. Some of the King’s aides-de-camp, and several members of the Committee went so far as to kiss and embrace the victor, who finally was carried in triumph to the retiring room under the vaulted entrance. The scene witnessed then inside the Stadion cannot be easily described, and even foreigners were carried away by the general enthusiasm.
