Introduction

Daniel Rich Galinson, national account manager for Solutran, is an active member of his community. When he’s not busy fulfilling his professional duties, Daniel Rich Galinson supports a number of local and international organizations, such as Feed My Starving Children (FMSC), a nonprofit that has helped children in more than 70 countries.

FMSC was founded in 1987 with the goal of eliminating starvation among children. To this end, the organization maintains a basic model of having volunteers pack meals by hand before sending them to orphanages, schools, and clinics across the world. The food packed by FMSC is specifically designed to ensure that children who are malnourished get the nutrition they need.

Since FMSC relies heavily on volunteer work, the organization welcomes individuals who want to help. Five years old is the minimum volunteering age, and group make-ups require that adults are present in varying ratios based on the ages of young volunteers. Additionally, FMSC reserves sit-down volunteer jobs for individuals who cannot stand, and does its best to accommodate any special-needs groups.

While many volunteers help the organization in groups, individuals are welcomed to register as well. Groups can bring more members than they originally registered if spots are still open. FMSC welcomes those volunteers who are ready to work, even if some members of a group cancel.
