As an under 16 year old, it might feel like some volunteering opportunities are out of your reach but there are plenty of opportunities available to you.

Take a look at our suggested volunteering ideas for under 16s. Make sure your DofE Leader approves of your chosen activity before you get started.

Volunteering activities for under 16s

At school - Help out at your school library. - Litter-pick at school with a group

of friends. - Tutor younger pupils in a subject

you’re good at. - Help to produce your school’s

newsletter or social media pages. - Raise awareness of a topic you

think pupils at your school should know about e.g. drug and alcohol education, climate change or study skills.

- Support younger pupils with their reading at the school library.

- Help out at a sports or after-school club.

- Encourage your school to be more eco-friendly by introducing a recycling programme.

- Create a display at school each week that highlights useful information for pupils.

At home - Provide practical support and

friendship to someone in need e.g. an elderly or disabled person.

- Give your time to a cause in your local community.

- Raise awareness for a cause you care about e.g. road safety, mental health or being safe online.

- Help out at your local library.

- Be a ‘digital buddy’ and share your knowledge of technology with those who need advice.

- Fundraise for a charity you care about.

- Create a display in your local community each week that highlights useful information for residents.

- Litter-pick in your local community - Be a Leader at your local Scout or

Guide group.
