Make A Positive Difference In Your Life …… Volunteer!!

In 2000 the Canadian Centre for Philanthropy completed a national study on volunteerism in Canada. The organization estimates that the total time volunteer by all Canadians is 1.05 billion hours, or the equivalent of 549,000 full time jobs. In Alberta about $1.5 billion worth of volunteer work is contributed annually.

Besides the tangible physical and financial benefits volunteers contribute to the Town of Sylvan Lake, working as a volunteer gives you an opportunity to:

• Make a better community

• Meet people

• Have fun

• Share a hobby or skill

• Network with professionals

• Give recognition

• Gain skills and experience

• Feel a sense of accomplishment

• Support a cause you believe in

The need for volunteers is ever increasing. As a result volunteers like yourself are and will continue to be instrumental in meeting community needs.

Staff in your office or volunteers at home can search for the right volunteer opportunity by one or more criteria, or just browse through all of them.

Each week, MyVolunteerPage.com emails volunteer opportunities to volunteers whose profile matches that of the new volunteer opportunity. (Volunteers must opt-in for this type of notification.)

Schools, businesses and other groups can access reports on their group’s volunteer activity levels.
