Caring for you close to home The The I I NSIDE NSIDE V V iew iew Every employee at Braxton County Memorial Hospital serves a purpose. As we go about our daily rounes and dues, we oſten make an impact on someone, whether it be a fellow co-worker, paent or a visitor or perhaps even a group of individuals. We oſten somehow make a difference without even realizing we have done so. Each month at BCMH a commiee meets to consider individuals who have been nominated and selects one of them to be named Arst of the Month and/or Employee of the Quarter. These individuals are nominated by someone because they have made a difference. As you see them going about their work day give them a word of congratulaons for a job well done. Without the care and compassion of people like them BCMH would not be able stand behind the promise of “Caring for you close to home” It is widely known with any organization, the first impression is most important. That is exactly why Debbie Hamrick, Registra- tion Clerk, was chosen as the Artist of the Month for October 2016. This description was given in her nomination and is repeated by those who observe her. Ben Vincent, Administrator, stated when making this presentation, “she goes out of her way to make the patient feel comforta- ble…a good first impression for our hos- pital.” Living in a rural area, we may be the first healthcare experience for some and it can be a scary place if you do not know what to expect. Debbie is always willing to do whatever she can to help. She also is an encourager to the staff as well. Debbie started her employment in 2009 working first in housekeeping, then transferring to Ward Clerk and now works in Registration in the Business Office. She tackles any project given to her and sets new goals for herself everyday. Deb- bie and her husband Gene live at Frametown. They love to fish and she especially loves swimming in the Elk River with her granddaugh- ters, Aurora and Mackenzie. This happened recently when a 26 week old baby was delivered in an ambulance. Everyone was on high alert when this infant entered the Emergency Room. And everyone was doing their job but one individual shined that day and that is why Marvin Franklin, Cardio-Pulmonary Services, is the Novem- ber 2016 Artist of the Month. “Thank God for Marvin Franklin, he did great with the baby” was the comment coming from Dr. Doug Given. The entire Emergency Room team working that day echoed how instrumental he was. And it seems too, on any given day, he can be found doing something “extra” for someone. That’s just the way he is. When I asked Marvin to give me some information on himself, he politely declined. He said he didn’t like that kind of “stuff”. I looked at a kind man who feels like he was just doing his job that day, and yes he was, but Thank God for Marvin Franklin. This has made life so much simpler for staff to navi- gate. For those who know Chelsea, this is nothing new. She also goes the extra mile in all she does. She is will- ing to help any way she can to make it easier for all involved. Even on days those “stressful” days, she is courte- ous and efficient. Chelsea and her fiancé, Jedediah are planning a September wedding. They live at Napier with their 7 furry children (4 dogs & 3 cats). She is a self-described “outside” girl and likes to garden and spend time with family and friends. In Keeping with Holiday Tradition On December 21, 2016 The Home Health Department suited up to celebrate

A Charlie Brown Christmas and decked the Halls of BCMH making several stops along the way to sing Christmas

carols and bring good cheer to all that observed.

“Light Up A Life”

West Virginia Caring (Formerly Hospice Care Corporation) gathered in the front Lobby for a “Light up a

Life” Event. During this event ornaments are placed on a tree in remembrance of loved ones who have

passed away or in honor of friends/family who are battling illness. Several ornaments were placed on the

tree at BCMH during this event to show appreciation and dedication to loved ones.
