The Chronicle Newsletter Title Volume 9 Issue 4 April 1, 2016 Dear Friends of the Community Center, I was so impressed with the children at the Annual Egg Hunt this year. There were some children that came a few minutes late and missed the hunt. We always have extra eggs in case that happens but this year their friends and other children shared some of their candy as well. I had some children that found more than one prize ticket and they shared with other children that had not found any. Given the problems many egg hunts had this year and issues we have had in the past, it was so wonderful to see the behavior of such a large crowd of people. Special thanks to those who donated prizes for the Egg Hunt this year. There were some really awesome prizes! Many of the children were trying out the bubbles and frisbees as they left the field. Huge thanks to my family and friends that came to help put the eggs on the field and who stayed to help clean up and bring all the egg shells back to the Center. Thank you to Val, Maggie, Molly, and Buddy Bialecki, Phylis Petronino, Linda Drozdowski, Paula Burgielewicz, Cindy O’Donnell, Maureen Lee, Marsha Dushane, Gary Shepard, Anne Chapdelaine, Tony Gray, and Jacob Gray. These wonderful people help with the Egg Hunt each year, and they are the best crew ever! Many thanks to Mike Superson and Big E’s Supermarket for letting us use the truck to transport all of the eggs and prizes, and for help in getting most of the candy. Now we begin the two month process of washing the eggs and getting them ready for next year. As a reminder to those folks that walk their dogs at Daley field, please bring bags to collect your dogs “deposits” on the field. It took us quite a while to clean up the field before we could put out all the eggs. With baseball season upon us I would hate to see one of the players slip and get hurt on the piles in the field. Food For Life Classes Easthampton Congregational Church, in partnership with Cooley Dickinson Health Care, Easthampton physician Dr. Nora Hanke, and the Treehouse Community, would like to share information about three community nutrition events, offered by Dr. Hanke. These presentations allow you to consult with the physician instructor, taste dishes in class, and take home recipes and other resources. They are a lot of fun, too!

Annual Egg Hunt Many thanks to all those who so
graciously gave of their time and energy to help stuff the eggs, get them out into the field and help pick up all the empty shells after the hunt! It is quite a task and it takes many people to make it all work. Thank you to the Easthampton Police and Fire Departments for their help in transporting the Bunny to the
field and helping assure everyone’s safety at the event. Special thanks to all those who donated the 800 pounds of candy and the 250 plus prizes that were given out this year! The bunny had a great
time getting lots and lots of hugs after all the eggs were collected.

Once again, we will be participating in VALLEY GIVES DAY May 3rd. The communities of Western MA
will be joining together for 24 hours to support non-profits working to make our region an amazing place to live! This is an e-philanthropy event to encourage residents of Hampshire, Franklin, and Hampden counties to contribute to their favorite non-profits via www.VALLEYGIVESDAY.ORG. This will be the fourth year of our participation in this spectacular event and we hope to make it the best year yet! Funding raised goes to help feed and support your neighbors in need in our Food Pantry Program. Watch our Facebook page and website for more information as the day gets closer!
