WORSHIP: Saturday 5:30 pm & Sunday 8:15 & 10:45 am
Sunday School from 9:30-10:30 am
NOVEMBER 4 & 5 – ALL SAINTS We celebrate the baptized people of God, living and dead, who are the body of Christ. We remember all who have died in Christ, trusting that the promises of God will be fulfilled and that all tears will be wiped away in the new Jerusalem. Readings: Revelation 7:9-17, Psalm 34:1-10, 22, 1 John 3:1-3, Matthew 5:1-12; First Sunday Fellowship at 9:15 am; hosted by Finance, Memorial Fund, Mission Fund, and Stewardship Committees. Food items collected at all services will benefit our local food pantry; under the auspices of Social Ministry. (Daylight Savings Time ends – turn your clocks back one hour before bed on Saturday night.)
NOVEMBER 11 & 12 – PENTECOST 23 Jesus tells the parable of the wise and foolish bridesmaids. Readings: Amos 5:18-24, Psalm 70, 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18, Matthew 25:1-13 10:45 WATERLIFE (service especially for families); 9:30-10:30 am Adult Sunday School Forum, “Heart-to-Heart/As Your Parents Age” - Room 309 (page 3)
NOVEMBER 18 & 19 – PENTECOST 24 Our readings during November speak of the end times. Jesus tells the parable of the talents, calling us to use our gifts. Transgender Day of Remembrance and Blessing of Quilts at all services. Readings: Zephaniah 1:7, 12-18, Psalm 90:1-8 [9-11] 12, 1 Thessalonians 5:1-11, Matthew 25:14-30
Annual Congregation Meeting - Sunday, November 19, 1 pm (Join us at 12 noon for soup before the meeting. Save the date!)
Annual Reports available November 4 in the gathering area.
WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 22 – THANKSGIVING EVE SERVICE 7:00 pm – Community Service at Christ Lutheran Church, 30 Chambersburg Street, Gettysburg
NOVEMBER 25 & 26 – CHRIST THE KING On this final Sunday of the church year our gospel is Jesus’ great story of judgment. In the end, the faithful are those who served Christ by ministering to those who are poor, hungry, naked, sick or estranged. Each week we are strengthened around Word and Sacrament, then sent forth empowered to serve a needy and hurting world. Thanks be to God. Prayers of Healing after all three services and Global Mission Support Festival (page 4). Readings: Ezekiel 34:11-16, 20-24, Psalm 95:1-7a, Ephesians 1:15-23, Matthew 25:31-46

Mission Fund in Action
This month we recognize Youth Adults in Global Mission, a program of the churchwide ELCA
which received $2,000 from the 2017 Mission Fund, made possible by the generosity of the
members and families of St. James.
The ELCA Young Adults in Global Mission program invites ELCA young adults ages 21-29 into
a transformative, year-long journey in international service. As they offer themselves in service,
ELCA young adults are shaped by the witness of our global neighbors. They share in the
journeys of companion churches and organizations in one of nine countries around the world.
A year of service through the Young Adults in Global Mission program invites young adults to
become the hands and feet of Jesus in the world, providing critical support to ministries and
projects in communities of need. Many return with a strong feeling of call for full-time service
to the church. Current YAGM country programs include: Argentina/Uruguay, Australia,
Cambodia, Central Europe, Jerusalem/West Bank, Madagascar, Mexico, Rwanda,
Senegal, Southern Africa and United Kingdom.
A BIKE RACK is in the back of the Gettysburg C.A.R.E.S. Resource Center, next
to the church, near the alley. Because of safety issues, we ask that you place your
bike there when coming into the church building. Thank you for your cooperation!
The Annual Cookie Walk fundraiser will be held on Sunday, Dec. 3rd!!
Come on down to the dining room and pick out some yummy holiday treats
made by the youth and members of St. James. Cookies will be $5 per pound
and all funds will benefit youth summer trips to the Gathering and Workcamp!
Pre-order forms can be found in the Gathering Area. If you would like to bake
cookies for the Cookie Walk, please let Jess Smith know.
We need people willing to DELIVER FLOWERS TO OUR SHUT-INS
after the 10:45 am worship service. If you can do this one time only, or for
an entire month, please email Dee Wells at [email protected].
