long road ahead of him. Pray for Cheryl and family as they are trying to be strong for him. Thank you for the calls and cards you have sent. Please try to understand they are not having visitors because he does not need to get sick (flu or virus). The prayers of a right-eous man are heard and answered. Please pray for God’s will and healing in his life. We have others that are very sick so do as the scripture says and pray with-out ceasing. I hope you are looking forward to an exciting new year. God is going to do some great things through the church body in 2018. We will pray and follow his leading in missions, evangelism, and ministry. I am amazed what God can and will do through a person who is available. May we be about His busi-ness in the New Year. We have not reached our Lottie Moon Christmas Offering goal yet. If you are able, please do what you can to support this wonderful foreign mission offering. We will continue to pray God will provide the funds to reach our goal. I hope you will make plans to be at our memorial service for those who passed in 2017. The service will begin at 5 PM on Sunday night, Jan. 14. This is a special time to minster to hurting and grieving families.

Happy New Year Family and Friends, I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and enjoyed some time off from work. Many of you are getting over being sick and under the weather. I pray you are doing better now. We made plans to be with my mom and family Christmas Eve. We had lunch and opened gifts that afternoon. Thank you to those of you who were able to come to the Christmas Eve can-dlelight service. I believe we were en-couraged, uplifted and felt the presence of the Lord. Also, thank you to those who got your poinsettias Sunday Night. The church sure was beautiful and your willingness to buy a poinsettia helped make it look great. I will tell you that my family had a quiet Christmas at home and it was nice not to have to be somewhere. The weather was cold so we decided to keep a fire in the fireplace all day. The kids had a good time opening their gifts and then being with their friends later that day. The cows were even given extra hay and feed as a treat for the holidays. I must say a big “Thank You” church family for the wonderful and sweet 25 year anniversary celebration. No one has never done anything as special as that party was for us. We will cherish those memories for a long time. Thank you also for the goodies, cards, gifts, and treats we received from you for my birthday and Christmas. We have such a loving, caring and giving church family. Please continue to pray for those that are sick and not doing well. Especially pray for Johnny Covington as he has a

Hello church family, What a December we had! The church was beautiful, the music divine, and the people were fed the Word by our pas-tor even with a broken leg. I cannot believe we are staring the year 2018, in the face. Where has the time gone? I want to thank everyone for all the Christmas cards, gifts and prayers during this special time of the year. Throughout the years many music ministers begin to won-der if what they are doing is effective and if they are feed-ing the people with great mu-sic that emphasizes the Word of God. Sometimes it just takes a card or a small token to let people know how much they are appreciated. Howev-er, not this church family. I want to say a special thanks to so many of you who took time out to send a gift or a card. I really say thank you for mak-ing it a special time for me and my family. You have tru-ly blessed me this month. Sunday, Dec. 17, was such an extreme blessing. I am so very proud of the Celebration Choir and all those who acted, moved sets in and out, and those who made all the deli-cious food for the fellowship that followed our Christmas program. What a fantastic job you all did! I have heard so many great compliments on it with most saying it was the best Christmas program

GMBC has ever had and it made them feel happy. The choir worked hard on this mu-sical more than any other. I want to say a special thanks to everyone in the choir for their dedication and desire to give God their best. They put in almost 30 hours of EXTRA practices preparing their parts and it showed. They were stronger than ever and every part was covered. Let me thank again Mimi Leach, Vanda Leach, Wayne Leach, Bob and Sheila Bullock, Marsha Wood, the best Hostess Committee in the world, and the countless others who all came together to make this night a huge success. Also thank you to those who invited their friends and family because we had a packed house with people having to park on the street. The choir will resume re-hearsals on January 10, when we will begin on our Easter musical. The Fredericks had the best Christmas ever. We had our entire family at our house for the first time in two years. The real joy came in watching our little Audrey as she celebrated her second Christmas, but the first one she knew what was going on. There is nothing more special than grandchil-dren. I know you all told me so, but one never truly knows until they are experiencing it firsthand. I want to brag on my Anna

just a bit. She is cheer coach at Brandon High, as many of you know. Well every one of her cheer squads won state titles this year—EVERY ONE of them. The Junior High, Junior Varsity, and Varsity are all State Champions! Ben is ready to start school at MC in January, Steven and Allison have put their house on the market, and Abbi did exactly what I predicted two years ago when she said she wanted to be a bio chemistry major. She has officially changed her major to Second-ary Education, just as I told her she would do. She will follow in the steps of both grandmothers, her mother, and her sister and become a teach-er. It is such a blessing to be able to be a part of the Griffith family. May God continue to do great and mighty things through his children here at Griffith Church. May God bless each and everyone of you.

MISSIONARY HIGHLIGHT Tim and Joy Mitchell—Peru Now listen up so you won’t get confused. The Mitchells serve in Peru, which is a country in South America. But the people they are sharing the Gospel with are not the natives of Peru. They are working among the Nikkei (Say KNEE-kay) people who have come from Japan to live in Peru, South America. There are about 100,000 of these immigrants from Japan; only about 100 of them are followers of Christ. The Nikkei people love baseball, one of Japan’s most popular sports. So Joy and Tim hold baseball clinics that help the people learn to play baseball better. We’re supporting Tim and Joy there in Peru through our Cooperative Program giv-ing (Lottie Moon). So today let’s pray that God will continue to grow their ministry so that more Nikkei people will hear the Gospel and find salvation.

Dear GMBC, Another year is in the books! With reflection on memories, there are highs and lows that come to mind. Moments that can bring tears of joy and tears of sadness. We can learn from our past, but we should not focus on it. We cannot drive a vehicle while looking in the rear view mir-ror and be fit for the Kingdom of God (Luke 9:62). Focusing on the past while moving forward can have catastrophic results. As children of God, we need to learn from our past and move on. One cannot be effective in sharing the the Good News while chasing their own tails. We, as children of God, need to have our eyes focused forward on our Father so we can accomplish the tasks that He has given to us. Announcements: A Youth Committee Meeting will occur in the month of January to plan events, fundrais-ers, etc. for 2018. Jan. 10: D-Now Deposit Due (D-Now is Feb. 9-10) $20.00 Deposit as well as shirt size will be needed Jan. 17: Youth out to eat Jan. 18: MBCB Youth Pastor Conference Poplar Springs Baptist Church, Mendenhall (Please be in prayer for the worship, speakers and youth pastors as we come together as one to learn from each other and pray all churches are represented.)
