“STEAK SHOOT” OFF TO A GREAT START!

Pat DowdThursday night, April 21st, was the start of a new season of

“Steak Shoot” games, and once again our “regulars” were

joined by new players who wanted to join the winner’s circle.

Set 1 was quickly won by our veteran players Bonnie Ayres,

Maggie Gurry Spellman, Ed Bopp, and Merrie Pyle. They

were soon followed by Ann Turk, Betsy Grinches, Sue

Obojski, and Martha Beck.

The evening moved along quickly as Set 3 winners claimed

their tickets for packages of two steaks: Theresa Male, Kevin

McCluskey, Erica Drew, and Mary McCluskey. Set 4 made

happy winners of Sharon Kane, Jeff Wade, Kevin McCluskey,

and Theresa Male. Kevin and Theresa were now double win-

ners!

At intermission, our players quickly purchased their tickets

for the monthly cash raffle as well as our “Holiday Cash” raf-

fle which will be distributed in November. Refreshments were

part of the intermission, and soon we were back to winning

steaks.

Marilyn Paulin, Alana Gurry, Betsy Grinches and Pat

Codney eagerly claimed their Set 5 steak winnings and then

we were into the final set of the regular games. It wasn’t long

before we heard the excited voices of Sue Obojski, Laura

Eastridge, Martha Beck, Bonnie Ayres, and Stephen Pyle call-

ing, “Steak!”

The bonus rounds were won by Sue Obojski- 4 steaks, and

Judy Wade – 6 steaks. And our Grand Bonus game winner was

none other than Betsy Grinches, who took home 12 center-cut

boneless pork chops! And to round out this first night of the

season, Mary Jo Gurry happily took home the $50 cash prize.

Don’t miss out on all the fun and the delicious steaks – join

us for “Steak Shoot” on the third Thursday of each month at

7:30 PM in the Phil Walsh Cabaret Room.

Cost for the evening which consists of 24 regular games,

and the bonus games is $10 for one rack of 3 cards. With our

new pricing structure, if you buy 2 racks of cards, you’ll get a

3rd rack free! Join us on June 15th for another fun night!

The Weight of Him: A Novel by Ethel Rohan is the story

of Billy, a 400 lb. man with an addiction to food and an

overwhelming grief over the suicide of his 17 year-old son.

He seeks ways of dealing with both his problems and find

solutions that will improve the quality of his life

The Last Night at Tremore Beach: A Novel by Mikel

Santiago is a psychological thriller about Peter Harper, a

famous English composer, vacationing on the coast of

Donegal to heal from his recent divorce. On his last night, a

storm rages and Peter begins to suffer from agonizing

headaches and strange dreams. Reviewers predict readers

will not be able to put this novel down.

Patricia Falvey, author of The Yellow House, offers her

second book, The Girls of Ennismore. In Ireland in the

early 1900s, the owners of a great estate ask the daughter of

their servants to be the companion of their lonely daughter

and receive an upper-class education. The girls’ friendship is

threatened by the difference in their backgrounds and the

outbreak of the 1916 Rebellion as they head in opposite

directions.
