Kathy’s Connection ~
April 2017 Newsleer
I am ready to celebrate SPRING. If you were a snowbird this year, please stop by when you get a chance
and tell us about your experiences to wherever you went to.
I did some research about the month of April. I have just a few funny and wacky things to share with
you, for instance, we all know April 1
st
is April Fool’s Day; but did you know that the 7
th
is National Beer Day.
The 15
th
is National Appreciation Husband Day, and that the 30
th
is National Hairdresser Day those are just a
few, there is too many to mention all of them.
I want to give a big shout out to the Income Tax Preparers for this year. Each and every one of you are a
blessing to everyone that you helped. Your dedication, sincerity, patience and kindness did NOT go unnoticed.
Thank you for the long hours you put in and to your families for the late dinners on Wednesday evenings.
I have a few items I want to mention: We are going to post a volunteer sign – up sheet in the office with
the hopes that we can get some helping hands to do some Spring Clean-Up Chores. One of those chores is to
spruce up the outside area. If you are interested in helping and you have handy; a rake, work gloves, a wheel
barrel, a hoe, and whatever else you think could be used to make the outside inviting. We will also need help in
the kitchen. The oven needs to be cleaned and the top of the stove. I would like the cupboards to be wiped down
and the sinks scrubbed. Please consider spending some time helping us make the center sparkle inside and out.
DID YOU KNOW:
If you went to Davison Schools at some point in your life, you have a wonderful opportunity to meet
with the Davison Alumni group on Tuesday’s at 9:00 a.m. right here at the center in room 7. It is a wonderful
way to reconnect with others who attended Davison and reminisce and share stories and memories. Several
times during the year Mr. Eric Lieske, Superintendent of Davison School District will drop in to say hello to the
group.
This month I would like to thank Pro-Hearing Center, Inc. for all they do for us. They provide a free
service on the second Monday of the month. They clean your hearing aids and put in new batteries. Lorraine
Provost has retired from the company, but the new owners are willing to still provide us with the excellent care
that is appreciated very much.
To anyone wondering why our Flag is no longer flying, it is because we need to replace the rope and
purchase the flag. Then we need coordinate with the Davison-Richfield Fire Dept. to put it up for us when their
ladder truck is out doing non-emergency runs. Please be
patient with us.
On Friday, April 14
th
the center will be closed in
observance of Good Friday.
Thank you for your continued support,
Kathy
Paence: The capacity to accept or tolerate delay,
trouble or suffering without geng angry or upset.

Help us earn $1,000
through direct your
dollars!
Save your VG’s receipts! We are raising money to
purchase items for the senior center through Direct Your
Dollars. Every time you shop at your local VG’s store,
save your receipts—and encourage your friends & family
to do the same. Once we have collected $150,000 in
receipts from VG’s, we can turn those slips of paper into a
$1,000 check. Just drop them off to the front office here at
the senior center. Please make sure you drop off the
original receipt—that’s how we earn our $1,000 check.
Through the Direct Your Dollars program, we can turn
your VG’s receipts into cash for our senior center!
