Welcome back!Welcome to the first Pre Prep newsletter of the year. To our returning families, welcome back, and to those of you who are joining us for the first time we wish you a very warm welcome. It is always exciting seeing younger siblings, who we have known for a number of years, suddenly be big enough to join us at Brighton College. This year we have welcomed over 70 of them! As I am sure you will have noticed, Pre Prep is already buzzing as pupils and staff get busy with a whole host of new activities. We look forward to welcoming you into the school to join us in the many special events that we have planned.

First weekin big school!

On Sunday we had many eager young boys and girls walking through the doors of ‘Big School’ for the very first time. They all looked gorgeous in their new uniforms and the looks on their parents’ faces was priceless. The day was, of course, filled with some tears (parents included!) but soon there was

the sound of children playing happily. This week we have enjoyed getting to know each other and learning some of the rules and routines of FS1. These little children have impressed us all beyond our expectations and we are excited to learn more about them and what they are capable of!

Flying highin FS2!

FS2 were flying high as they came back from the summer holidays and joined their new classes.

The corridor was full of excitement as friends were reunited and new friendships were formed.

Having grown and matured over the summer the children

have all settled really well into their daily routines and are already working hard to produce their holiday news and to share their photographs.

The whole team is looking forward to a fantastic year ahead!

Year 1Setting sail!

Everyone has had a very busy week in Year 1. The children have started to get to grips with their timetable and produced fabulous artwork based on our theme of ‘Under the Sea’.

The children have written about what they did in the holidays, written some information about themselves and been counting collections of objects.

Everyone is looking forward to next week when we shall delve deeper under the Sea!

A big weekfor Year 2!

It’s been a big week for Year 2! The children returned in style with happy smiling faces. It was fantastic to see how much they had grown over the summer and they were welcomed back by all the teachers with a great big smile. We started to get to know each other straight away with circle time games and our ‘Can you find someone who...’ icebreaking game.

We have started working on the biography of a famous artist, Henri Rousseau,

whose work we will be studying over the coming term. We looked at the features of a biography, ready to write some of our own next week.

We also started working on Mathematics and our new topic ‘Where in the World?’, creating our own passports and finding out more about each other.

We are really looking forward to getting stuck in to our work this term, it should be great fun!

HappyHouses! The children in FS2, Year 1 and Year 2 were treated to an enthusiastic and vibrant welcome in Assembly this week from their new House Masters and House Mistresses for this year. Mrs High will continue as Senior House Mistress whilst Mr Thomas continues to lead Saadiyat for a second year.

Our new House Masters & Mistresses are: Miss Collins for Futaisi, Mr Noone for Lulu and Mr Murphy for Yas.

FS1 now have their very own ‘rainbow’ house mistress, Mrs Taha, who will be overseeing the House system and events within FS1.

We are so excited about the year ahead for the Houses and the children are really looking forward to beginning to earn House points on Sunday.
