CORPUS CHRISTI, TX – Corpus Christi IceRays General Manager today that the team has acquired goaltender Anton Olsson fromthe Texas Jr. Brahmas (WSHL) and released forward Ryan Gauthier.Olsson, 20, is a native of Stromstad, Sweden. For the Jr. Brahmas this season, Olsson played in 22 games compiling a 8-6-3 recordwith a 3.08 goals-against average and a .934 save percentage. He is expected in uniform this weekend.In a separate move, the IceRays released Gauthier. In five games played, Gauthier had one goal and one assist for two points.The IceRays continue their homestand on Friday December 10th against the Wichita Falls Wildcats at 7:05 PM. ICERAYS SIGN OLSSON; RELEASE GAUTHIER

CPPP, RAISE Texas launch new statewide initiative to build a strong middle class and increase economic prosperity (AUSTIN, Texas) ) The Center for Public Policy Priorities (CPPP) and RAISE Texas announce the launch of their jointstatewide initiative, OpportunityTexasTM. Aimed at building a strong middle class through partnerships that promote savings,build financial capability, and increase college access and success, this initiative will create new pathways for more Texans toachieve the American Dream.To that end, OpportunityTexasTM announces its 2011 grantees for its Innovation & Investment grants, which will expand financialeducation, increase household income, and create new savers across the state. Grant recipients include the Texas Council forEconomic Education, which will receive funds to start a new financial education program, Smarter Texas, in K-12 grades.Another grant recipient is the United Ways of Texas, which will create new Texas savers working through local United Waysto offer incentives for Texans to save at community tax centers across the state. The final two grantees are FoundationCommunities and Catholic Charities of Fort Worth.“All Texans share the common goal of broader economic prosperity and financial success,” says Don Baylor, senior policyanalyst at CPPP. “The economy works best when more Texans are participating and moving up the economic ladder.”According to Baylor, however, too many Texans don’t have equal access to the pathways to opportunity and prosperity.For example, Texas ranks last in the share of the population over the age of 25 with a high school diploma and ranks last amongthe states in terms of overall credit score, which is increasingly tied to economic mobility and development. In addition, Baylorsays children with a college savings account in their name are more likely to attend college than children without an account. Butwhile half of Texas children live in households making less than $50,000, these children make up only 6 percent of enrollees inTexas’ pre-paid tuition college savings plan.“For Texas to be successful, a joint effort from all major players is essential,” says Woody Widrow, executive director of RAISETexas. “This includes the public and private sectors, higher education, employers, and the public school system.”OpportunityTexasTM is working to forge these partnerships and aims to use existing statewide delivery systems, such as the publicschool system and the workplace, to increase the pathways to prosperity and opportunity for all Texans.
