A Note from the General Manager… Welcome Back to all of our returning residents and RVers. Also a big welcome to all of you who are staying at Voyager for the first time or are coming back after a year or more of being away. The summer was spent making even more infrastructural and aesthetic improvements to our facilities. We re-plastered the indoor/outdoor pool, replaced the Switch Gear (the main electric panel for the property), completed phase 3 replacing the Concentric Neutral Primary Electric lines,
re-surfaced all the Bay streets, and sealed Voyager streets where the electricians worked. After the fourth and final phase of the electrical work next year, we will be able to complete the Voyager streets. As Voyager starts to fill up again, I would like to bring up several safety issues. Please drive the resort speed limit of 15 mph and stop at all stop signs. Please keep dogs on leashes. Be visible when you walk in the dark by wearing reflective clothing, and carry a working flashlight. It definitely takes a village to watch out for each other. We want EVERYONE to enjoy the time they spend here. Thank you to our full time summer residents and staff members for their response to our call for supplies for the victims of Hurricane Harvey in Texas. We loaded two pickup trucks and a big dump trailer to take to the U of A after the Houston football game. We filled one third of their equipment trailers with just our donations. Because of the generosity of Voyager and the city of Tucson as a whole, U of A ended up having to take two trailers to Houston! Finally, thanks to Voyager staff, residents and guests, Voyager was awarded The Certificate of Excellence for the second year in a row from Trip Advisor. This is quite an accomplishment and one I am very proud of! Thank you. I look forward to another fun and adventurous season with lots of activities, concerts and sports. I sincerely hope that you have another great year at Voyager RV Resort. Sincerely, Rick Tubaugh, General Manager

WE NEED YOU! If you have some spare time and want something to do please consider volunteering here at Voyager! The Kitchen is a big part of Activities here at Voyager.
We are blessed to have had a line of great employees to supervise the many volunteers it takes to provide food at our numerous food-related events. If you are interested
in joining this fun-loving team please stop by the Kitchen or the Activity Office. We always need extra help setting up tables and chairs for our many events - sign up on the Activity Board. If you’d like to help sorting and distributing mail, stop by the Mailroom and speak with Thoni.
“Volunteering is the ultimate exercise in democracy. You vote in elections once a year, but when you volunteer, you vote every day about the kind of community you want to live in.” Unknown
Registration is in search of two or three Ambassadors to be in charge of making and delivering Voyager Welcome Bags to our RV guests. This would involve a few hours a day Monday through Friday.

COMMUNITY FOOD BANK As we begin another season in our retirement experience, Tucson area children are back in school. Those who struggle with hunger are more likely to suffer from a lack of physical, mental and
social development. Please help - we need non-perishable food in non-glass containers. You can drop off your donations in the Catalina or Santa Rita Room through October 8 - after that collection boxes will be in the Ballroom. Thank you to all who participated in the Community Food Bank Walk! You made such a difference! We could not have collected such funds if it were not for the generosity of the walkers, sponsors, and all who kept us in your thoughts and prayers. We will publish the exact amount that we raised when we hear from the food bank. Thank you to all of you! Jean Cary & Sue Pierce

If you are or know of someone in need, give us a call! Neighbor to Neighbor is a group of about 75 terrific volunteers who help other Voyager residents in need. We match a person in need with someone who is able to meet that need. If you are interested in becoming a volunteer, pick up an application in the Activity Office. Call Jane Kenworthy at 574-5314 for more info.
Want to Help?
In addition to matching need to helper, Neighbor to Neighbor keeps a list of resident care-givers, house-cleaners, dog-walkers, dog-sitters and ride-providers. These are longer term, paid individuals who want to help other Voyager residents. If you are interested in being on this list, call Jane Kenworthy at # 574-5314.
Are you living alone, ill, injured, or fragile and would appreciate a FREE daily check for health and safety? If the answer is yes, the
Community Cares Program can meet that need. As a participant, you are given a set of cards illustrating days of the week. It will be your responsibility to display the correct day in your window before 10 each morning. Volunteers will check each day; if the display is correct, they will continue on their way. If not, you will receive a knock on your door, a phone call, or other instructions to confirm your health or safety is not in danger.
Sign up as a Community Cares volunteer for the 2017 - 2018 season by calling:

ACTIVITY UPDATES
QUILTERS 1 Welcome Back To The Sun! Join us for another great season and help the kids at Ronald Mc Donald House feel special. We meet Thursdays at 1:00 pm in the Palo Verde Room. Plastic water bottles, clean aluminum cans & tabs can be dropped off at 4-250 or #7 in the Bay.
NIMBLE FINGERS Thanks to all who donated yarn, fabric, and dollars during the 2016/2017 season. You made it possible for us to donate a record 4,077 hand made items to local charities! Of course, our hard working members worked their magic to turn all your donations into useful items that are requested by the charities we support. It was a very successful season. Our summer members got really creative making cute and colorful animal faces for 136 pillows requested by health organizations to use as comfort pillows for children. In July we filled a request from an oncology unit needing cancer hats, lightweight scarves, and walker bags. In addition, we kept busy making lots of afghans, scarves, hats, tote bags, duffel bags, pajamas and other items requested by local charities. We'll be distributing these items in October. Cleaning out your stash of yarn or fabric? We can put it to good use. We especially need fabric suitable for making walker, tote, and duffel bags. Bring it by any Monday or Friday during our meeting between 1:00 and 3:30 pm in the Palo Verde Room. If you sew, knit or crochet, we can use your talents. We have other ways that you can help, too. Just stop by and find out how you can get involved.
