  • To our dad,to everyone else, you are a lowrider legend. To us... Youre dad (grandpa for Elisa). Weve all had our downs, but you are always there to pick us back up. We might not show it often, but we love and appreciate everything. Its a love without end, amen. Thank you dad, the Texas Legend, and #1 Cowboys fan.

    -Isela, Jesse, Selena, and Elisa.

Dear Lord,I hope you can pass thisletter along to a man that is in your kingdom. I would really love for him to hear these words.

Another year has approached us and its another year that I sit here and wish you a happy Fathers Day from below. Knowing that youre in heaven smiling down at us yet I cant shake off the fact that I wish you were here so that I could hold you and just hear your laughter. Father, I hope I made you proud and I hope that you always knew that I did what I could as a daughter and now a mother to make you happy. Your happiness was the most important thing to me, even if I didnt always show it. To you, I mean these words from the bottom of my heart, the man that made me whom I am today, the man that raised me to be a better person. I thank you for your unconditional love. Happy Fathers Day, dad. I love you. Today, tomorrow, and forever.

Your little girl,FlaFlaAnd to the other man in my life... To the love of my life, my

husband.Every day that we spend together, my heart skips a beat. I

couldnt tell you just how much you mean to me. I try and get pretty and I try to make you smile. I want to be that someone that you can never be without. I appreciate your attempts and I love your efforts. And what may seem meaningless for you means the world to me. I couldnt of have asked for a better man, to help raise my children and be the father that you are. You have made me very happy in so little time. I am madly in love with you and I look forward to tomorrow so that I can repeat the same words to you. For you, I live and I can think of a million things I can do with you but not a single thing I can do without you. I love you baby. Thank you for being you. Thank you for being mine.

Happy Fathers day, my love. You deserve it.Your wife, Me...

  • If Letters Could Be Sent to Heavenby Lucy Bocanegra

Dear Dad,Its been 4 long years with out you here physically, but not a day goes by I dont think of you. Its impossible not to think of you, especially if I step out to the back yard. I am trying not to be the Sanford & Son of our neighborhood, but its hard to throw away anything you ever laid your hands on. Everthing from fabrics, tools, unfinished projects to pictures are all in the boxes.

You came from a large family of 15 children and because you had a tremendously smart Father, you learned a lot. You always said, I can do it...bring it Monday...cash money! and customers knew you would do it. That is what makes me proud. Before the SI SE PUEDE slogan you lectured us to never say, NO PUEDO and I try my hardest to live by that.

Thank you for teaching me to stand up for anything I believe in and for not only preaching faith, but demonstrating it. Thank you for all the vacations you took us on. Thank you for being the best husband my Mom could ever ask for. Thank you for knowing each of your children, what we were capable of and never sugar coated your advice. Thank

you mostly for teaching me we have to make our own luck and trust in God. A Dios rogando y con el mazo dando

I have to go now, because I have a ULA meeting to go to. Had you still been around, I think you would be going with me. You should really see how many of the people in the Low Riding scene work together to promote something I know you believed in. Dad...one day I will let people know the sacrifice you made, not only for your own familys safety...but for the Low riding community.

I love you Pops, Papi, Dad, Jefe! I miss talking to you and having those crazy meetings at the shop. The office was too small, but you always made it worth our while to work hard and sometimes late, with no bonuses hahahah. Oh wait, El Ranchito was our reward almost weekly.

Got to go now, but remember save me a plate! I expect that carne asada upon meeting you in Heaven.

    Love,La Trompuda

P.S We are all doing fine. You did good! Happy Fathers Day Pappi, give Mammi a hug!

    -Lucy Bocanegra

Happy Fathers Day to the man who loves me unconditionally, aside from my Father God, Mr. Johnny Mojica! A Father is a girls first love, first male best friend, first sense of security. My Dad has been that and so much more. He has taught me to love, to respect others, no matter their status in this world. He has taught me to be independent and to be there for those who need me. We share the same heart. I am blessed God chose him to be my Dad. On this Fathers Day, I salute the man who would do anything for me and who I love, appreciate and pray for daily. He is my hero and the keeper of my heart. I love you, Dad.

FRONTIERS OF FLIGHT MUSEUMby Amber RossPhotos by Luzette Portillo

If you do not plan to get away for the summer, you still can take flight without leaving the ground.

  • The Frontiers of Flight Museum is a great place to explore. It is home to the Apollo 7 and many other wonderful items such as Flight Attendant uniforms and such.

Here at the facility you can experience the stories of aviation and space flight. You can read about the Wright Brothers and sit in a first class chair. There is even an old oven that was once heating up food for the first class passengers.

As you walk through the place, you will see picture after picture documenting the inauguration of new routes. Even Cantilfas is in one of the pictures.

Mannequins are lined up, dressed in the many different outfits the flight attendants once wore. Everything from hats to custom made shoes. Though it is a flight museum, it can also teach us a thing or two on fashion!

Over all, the place gets 5 stars. Reasonable price for individuals, as well as for birthday parties. The childrens play area is perfect. It sure beats being out in the Texas heat!
