School Councillor of The Week
Hi— my name is Rod
Munro and I am the father
of James and Ben. I joined
School Council in 2010 to
actively participate in and
influence the standard of
my sons’ education.
This is my third year as School Council
President During my time on School
Council I have been in a position to assist
in addressing some key issues affecting
the school. One of these projects has
been the improvement of road safety in
the vicinity of the school. Although
there is much work to be done I am
pleased that School Council will be con-
sidering concept plans for a ‘Drop Off’
Zone’ and improved parking at our next
meeting as a result of TAC funding over
the past 2 years.
As School Council President I continue
to work with the school, council mem-
bers and all interested parties to set and
maintain a high standard of education
and facilities for the Kismet Park com-
munity. As your representative I am
keen to hear your views and ideas. I can
easily be contacted by leaving a message
at the office.
Dear Parents, Staff and Students,
Thank you once again for your sup-
port of our Community Walkathon
which raised approximately $9000 in
support of School Council’s efforts
to improve our school facilities. This
money funds work including play-
ground improvements such as new
seating, pathways and lawn areas.
As a school we are always striving to
improve our teaching and learning
practices. Tomorrow’s Curriculum
Day will focus on school wide prac-
tices in the areas of Oral Language,
Student Wellbeing, Reading and
Writing.
Prep 2015 Enrolments
Our 2015 enrolment has commenced.
This information allows us to com-
mence planning for the coming year.
As the number of student enrolments
determines staffing and classroom
numbers, it is vital that we establish
student numbers for 2015 as early as
possible. When enrolling a child,
please bring proof of age (e.g. Birth
Certificate or Passport) and a School
Immunization Certificate.
Information regarding immunization
certificates can be found at::

Vacation Care
Extend are considering the possibility
of offering Vacation Care on site at
Kismet Park. To help in identifying the
level of demand families are asked to
complete a short survey at http://
tinyurl.com/KPPS2014 This infor-
mation will help us plan for the future.
The survey closes tomorrow, Friday
6th June. Please call Glenn if you re-
quire any further information.
School Parking / Kiss and Drop
Supported by funding through the TAC
School Council is continuing its work
to improve parking and drop off /pick
up zones around the school. A Traffic
Works consultant will be presenting
concept plans to School Council at
6:30pm on Monday 16th of June. All
are welcome. Please call the office by
Friday 13th June to register your at-
tendance.
Have a great week!

Help KISMET PARK to win $10,000!
Help us raise funds by collecting mastheads of the Herald Sun and Sunday
Herald Sun. The Herald Sun and Sunday Herald Sun is giving Kismet Park
Primary the chance to win $10,000! It’s easy for us to take part, just collect as
many Herald Sun or Sunday Herald Sun mastheads as you can between Sun-
day 1 June and Saturday 14 June. Return them to school by Tuesday June 16th
and we will tally and submit the final number. There will be a box in the front
office. The school that collects the most wins! Scores are calculated on a pro-
portional basis to the number of students that attend each school, so everyone
has an equal chance of winning. Those mastheads add up fast and we can use
the money for any school-related program.

Illness & Personal Hygiene
With the community currently experiencing a significant
bout of illness it is timely to remind ourselves of the
importance of warm clothing, healthy eating and hy-
giene habits to combat against cold and flu symptoms
that can impact on our children’s health and school at-
tendance.
It is advisable, particularly for young children, to have a
change of clothing in the event of getting damp during
playtimes or on their way to school to avoid delays in
ensuring your child is warm and dry as quickly as possi-
ble. Footwear also needs to be weather-proof to avoid
feeling cold and uncomfortable during a school day. To
promote some important health habits it is a good idea to
teach your child how to use a handkerchief or tissue for
runny noses and covering the mouth when sneezing or
coughing. Keeping a raincoat in the schoolbag is also
handy during unexpected inclement weather conditions.
While these ideas will not necessarily prevent illness
they may assist in reducing the number of absences dur-
ing the winter period. Children should not be sent to
school if they are unwell.
If your child is unable to attend school due to ill health
please remember to supply a letter of explanation on
his/her return so that our records are accurate. Please
note that in the unlikely event of an extended absence
due to ill health it is strongly recommended that you
contact the school so that the teacher can be made aware
of the possible need for additional instructional support
being provided as part of a smooth transition back into
the classroom.
