(The question- naire provides parents and/or guardians with the opportunity to raise any concerns they may have about their child’s health and development with the school nurse). These questionnaires were distributed to all Prep parents last week to be returned at the latest by 8 th June 2016. EQ in Action Each week I try to share an example of our EQ in action. I regularly ask students to live by the Golden Rule – Treat Others The Way You Would Like To Be Treated! There are many examples of this everyday at school. I saw at the division athletics a great example of this with 2 Grade 4 boys, Oliver Warburton and Mitchell Grumley competing in the 800m event. The boys came first and second respective- ly in a great race! This is not what impressed me. What im- pressed me the most was the sportsmanship and the empathy shown by both boys. They were genuinely excited for each other, patting each other on the back in congratulations. Great to see boys! Victorian Primary School Nursing Program – Preps

The primary school nurse from the Primary School Nursing

Program will be visiting our school in Term 3 to assess all

prep children who have signed consent, via their School

Entrant Health Questionnaire (SEHQ). (The question-

naire provides parents and/or guardians with the opportunity

to raise any concerns they may have about their child’s

health and development with the school nurse). These

questionnaires were distributed to all Prep parents last

week to be returned at the latest by 8th June 2016.

EQ in Action

Each week I try to share an example of our EQ in action. I

regularly ask students to live by the Golden Rule – Treat

Others The Way You Would Like To Be Treated! There

are many examples of this everyday at school. I saw at the

division athletics a great example of this with 2 Grade 4

boys, Oliver Warburton and Mitchell Grumley competing in

the 800m event. The boys came first and second respective-

ly in a great race! This is not what impressed me. What im-

pressed me the most was the sportsmanship and the empathy

shown by both boys. They were genuinely excited for each

other, patting each other on the back in congratulations.

Great to see boys!

Alpha Show to visit Guthrie Street

The ALPHA SHOW performance of ‘ALADDIN’ is com-

ing to our school on Monday, 6 June 2016. Aladdin is a full

theatrical musical especially for children, and will be a

memorable event that children will thoroughly enjoy! It has

a powerful social & emotional learning focus concentrating

on the values of Honesty, Hard Work and Goal Setting. Al-

pha has been visiting our school annually for over 10 years

and each year they have captured the children’s attention

Division Athletics Success

Last Friday, 22 students participated in the Division Athlet-

ics in Shepparton, which is a stepping stone to the Regional

Athletics in Albury and the State Primary School Athletics

Championships in Melbourne. From this day, 14 students

have progressed after a very successful day. The following

students will now compete at the Regional Athletics in Al-

bury on October 14th in attempt to qualify for the State Ath-

letics:

This week our Grade 3/4 and Grade 5/6 students head off on

Parents need to be reminded that if the excursion package

Outside School Hours Care On Friday 10

th of June 2016 Outside School Hours Care is running all day due to report

writing day.

We encourage all children to Come dressed as your favourite Celebrity or singer, sports person, movie star, and join us with are Outside School Hours Care Talent Show.

After lunch we are running a Sports Challenge which will consist of all different

events. Times and costs are: 8:00am-6:00pm $45.00 Full day care 8:00am-1:00pm 1:00pm-6:00pm $30.00 half day care Children are required to bring their Morning Tea and Lunch. Afternoon Tea is provid-ed. Bookings are essential on the day and can be made with the office or myself. Late book-ings will not be accepted.

Koori Action Team:

We had another great term meeting week 7 in the library on Wednes-

day.

Aboriginal students presented to the community their speeches on

why they wanted to be a Koori leader in the school.

Successful candidates were Shayla and Marlene. Congratulations-

the First Koori Leaders at Guthrie Street.

They will work alongside the other student leaders at Guthrie

Street.

We discussed and planned NAIDOC week. Beginning week 11 at

Monday assembly.

Future planning was also dis-

cussed.

Library News During the last couple of weeks a friendly reminder went home for P-2 students who have an overdue book. Please help your child find their overdue book and return it to the Library as soon as you can that way the books are ready to be borrowed again! If an-yone is having difficulty locating an overdue book at home please contact me. There are some changes to the Library and Media Centre opening times. It will now only be open on Thursday and Friday mornings from 8:30-8:45am. It has been really great to see students and parents visiting and using our Library at these times. sion Parent Helpers - Thank you to all the

parents who volunteered to assist with the

upcoming excursion

We had an overwhelming amount of support, and

are able to take all of those who have already

volunteered. Due to time restraints, unfortu-

nately we are unable to accept any more vol-

unteers. The Parent Helper cost of $15 is due

on Thursday 9th June.

ALPHA – Aladdin Performance – On Monday 6th

June we have the pleasure of watching the

amazing ALPHA performers present the story

of Aladdin. The cost for those that haven’t

paid the School Fees is $10.

It’s a Mad World – On Thursday the 9th June we

have another performer coming to perform for

us, this performance encourages students to

‘participate to progress.’ The cost for those

that haven’t paid the School Fees is $5.

8:15am. We will meet your class teacher on the Tiger Turf. Buses will leave Guthrie Street at 8:30am.

Children need to bring lunch, snacks and a drink bottle of water in their bag. Buses will return from

Echuca at 3:45pm.

Grade 3 Echuca Camp

Expression of interest forms for Grade 3 camp went home late last week. These need to be

returned with a $50 deposit by 31st July. Please see your child’s class teacher if you have any

questions regarding camp.

Start of the day

We would like to remind to all students and families that our school day starts at 8:45am.

This is the time when students can read, get themselves organised for their school day and it

is also an opportunity for parents to speak to the teachers. It is an important part of our

school day and also a vital learning opportunity for the students.

Grade 3/4 team.

Grades Five and Six This week the 5/6 student's will be travelling to Bendigo as part of the Gold Rush unit. This will be an exciting way for students to draw together all the learning from this term about gold and to experience themselves what life for a gold miner was like. Buses will be leaving at 7:20am sharp. children will require lunch and a drink bottle. A jumper and warm clothes is also recommended. For those who are yet to pay for the excursion it is $45 to be paid before Thursday. Students who have not paid this will be staying at school.

Next Monday Alpha Shows will be presenting Aladdin at Guthrie Street. The cost for this show for those who haven't paid the excursion levy is $8.
