Thursday brought many to camp. During and after setting up there was the usual visiting in the street to say hi, how are you, etc. The afternoon activities included naps for those tired from driving, walking the dogs and heading to the building to hang out in the air conditioning. Dinner was on our own. After dinner some gathered at the building to chat while others played games. Joker and Texas Canasta were very popular. Friday brought beautiful blue skies. Many were sitting outside talking, there was a lot of coming and going of people as various projects were completed by different folks. Shopping was a popular activity all weekend. Harvey’s, Walmart, and Camping World were common destinations. Walking dogs and talking in the streets were also popular activities. In the afternoon Joker was a favorite game. Friday night we gathered for our first potluck. The cooks out- did themselves as everything was delicious. That evening we played Card Bin- go. There was a lot of table talk in between the games. We played 10 games and had lots of winners. Saturday morning we gathered for a potluck breakfast and again all the cooks did a great job. Those that are members of North Florida Lifetime Sams gath- ered for a business meeting. All the fixings for lunch were provided by the campground, we just had to provide the workers. Thanks to all that helped cook the hot dogs and hamburgers and prepare the fixings. After lunch we played John and Sue’s Jurassic Downs. It was fun to watch the dinosaurs race to the finish line. Dinner that night was salad and dessert. It was great to have a light supper after such a big lunch. After dinner we played Nickel, Nickel, I Need It and again we had many winners. Sunday morning we gathered for our final breakfast potluck. It was relaxing to sit and talk after the meal. Eventually cards and Joker boards were broken out. Camping Tips

When you hook up water, turn on the water for a second or two before hooking up your hose to prevent rusty water from going into your tank. A water sediment filter that goes between the water spigot and the motor home helps keep junk out of your tank too.

We made our way to Sams St. John Seafood for dinner where we were joined by former members Bob and Reba Ward and their friends Lee and Karen Wag-ner-the “duck” people. We were lucky as most people had made their way to the building early to sit and visit or watch Nascar on the big TV while waiting for bean bag baseball because we had very heavy rains. The baseball game was very close with a final score of 4 to 3. After the game some played cards while others watched the race. Monday morning was the official end of the weekend and fond farewells were heard. Many stayed over to Tuesday. Those that stayed gathered for leftovers for lunch, played games and enjoyed the extra visiting time. Everyone is look-ing forward to stuffing bears in October at Coastal GA RV. Although we did not hold a meeting, Jack and Pat Dean had the pleasure of welcoming their newest grandchild while we were in camp. Welcome Asher Dean Williams!! Please remember those who were unable to be with us due to illness, traveling or mechanical issues. Thank you for remembering to bring canned goods to each campout for our ongoing food bank donation-they are so grateful for all we contribute. We had another great carload of food this month-THANK YOU!!

PLEASE LET US KNOW IF YOU ARE OR ARE NOT COMING TO ALL CAMPOUTS. Please send Rich Gavin, wagon master and Rich Frederick, president, an email, or make a phone call with your plans. Communication is important. Campgrounds ask questions, people get worried when you don’t come at your normal time. Their email addresses and telephone numbers are

It's been an interesting trip this time riding with Larry and Mary Schmuhl. Due to a malfunction in the black water tank, we can answer the age old bear-in-the-woods question. Yes when you HAVE to. We left Florida and stopped in South Carolina to pick up reunion stuff in totes to be carried in the truck. Took a lot of pictures at South of the Border, When we stopped for the night in Virginia, there was a terrible smelly puddle where the hoses are stored. The tank was leaking! In NJ there was a surprise birthday party for Mary. After that we went to a campground and had to use a portable potty tank. As of now, the motorhome has been in the shop for two weeks. Hopefully the tank will be replaced soon. Meanwhile we went to Larry's 50th high school reunion, Neat school and a whole bunch of old people. The New Jersey shore was awesome. Next we are heading to New York City to the 9-11 memorial, Ellis Island and the USS Intrepid. From there we will be going to Rhode Island for Larry's ship reunion, and then to Texas. Until next month!
