Volgo-Caspian Design Bureau has been founded in April, 2006 in Nizhniy Novgorod on

the basis of the design division of MNP Group. Its predecessor is the Engineering Center

Krasnoye Sormovo Shipyard which has rich experience in shipbuilding designing of

commercial fleet. The strategic partner of Volgo-Caspian Design Bureau is MNP Group.

Our specialists have obtained rich expe-rience in development of technical and classification projects, working design documentation and also technical sup-port for vessel building on the yard. We have experience of project development for vessels which were designed and built in accordance with the rules of Russian Maritime Register of Shipping, Russian River Register and under the survey of International Classification Societies like Germanischer Lloyd (GL) and Det Norske Veritas (DNV).

Quality management system of Volgo-Caspian Design Bureau is certified in accordance with GOST R ISO 9001-2001.

Competence and experience of highly skilled specialists, modern systems of computer-aided design, active coopera-tion with Classification Societies, scientific research institutions and leading Russian shipyards help our company to improve the design base. That’s why we are proud to offer our Customers vessel projects which fully comply with their require-ments and also with the requirements of International Conventions.

Designers who earlier worked for Krasnoye Sormovo Shipyard and for Central Design Bureaus Vympel and Lazurit constitute the backbone of the personnel of the new company. Seventy highly skilled engi-neers-designers work for Volgo-Caspian Design Bureau today.

Originally Volgo-Caspian Design Bureau was developing projects under order of their traditional partners – the enterprises of MNP Group: Krasnoye Sormovo Shipyard and Volgogradskiy Shipyard. Gradually the geography of executed orders extend-ed due to interest from many other ship-building enterprises. In 2006-2007 the customers of Volgo-Caspian Design Bureau have become: Svithoid Tankers (Sweden), Yaroslavskiy Shipbuilding Plant (Yaroslavl), Zelenodolskiy Plant named after Gorkiy (Zelenodolsk), Total S.A. (France), Baltiyskiy Zavod (St. Petersburg), SEDA Ltd. (Turkey).

At the end of 2007 there was started a test exploitation of computer-aided engineer-ing system NAPA (for hull surface cre-ation, calculations for vessel theory, hull constructions modeling) which was finally introduced in 2008.

In addition the vessel is to operate as a field support vessel offer-ing limited under-deck oil and potable wa-ter cargoes and deck cargo capability for offshore installations engaged in oil and gas exploration and production activities on the continental shelf of North Europe.

Navigation areaUnrestricted navigation. The vessel is designed for performing Safety Stand-by support services, 24 hours/day continuous operation based on a minimum duration of 30 days per month, at environmental air temperature from –25°С up to +40°С (at 70% humidity) and seawater temperature from –5°С up to +32°С.

Navigation areaThe vessel is intended for operations at sea in accordance with restrictions for class R1РМРС. Operation condi-tions: year-round navigation in non-freezing seas, in fine broken open pack ice of non-arctic seas (independent navigation in fine broken open pack of the thickness 0.40 m at speed up to 5 knots, occasional navigation in channels following the ice breaker in solid ice F of the thickness 0.35 m at speed up to 3 knots; operation in prolonged river naviga-tion conditions accordingly to ice-class Ice1 at environmental air temperature –24°С.

Outside air design temperature: up to +40°С at 65% humidity in summer; up to –24°С at 85% humidity in winter. Sea water design temperature +30°С to 0°С accordingly.
