Hitler's Thousand-Year PlanNot Dead

Adolph Hitler planned to conquerand to rule the world. Most of our read-ers of long standing are familiar withHitler's "Thousand-Year Plan," It was adiabolical counterfeit of GOD'S PLANfor the Thousand-Year Rule of Christ!

But Hitler made one fatal mistake.This blunder brought doom to the firstNazi try for world domination. That er-ror is wrapped up in the very essence ofNazism. The term "Nazism" is merelya contraction for "National Socialism."

Hitler's mistake which foredoomedhis World War II effort was his fierce1UIiof'Ullism! He envisioned a thousand-year rule by Germans over all other na-tionalities and races, with Hitler himself

In this fatal blunder Hitler underesti-mated the vast influence and power ofthe Papacy. Instead of cooperating withthe Vatican, as he might have done, andeffecting a cooperative UNION of Eu-ropean nations, Hitler set up his ownpersonal religion, attempted to deifyhimself as a GOD, opposed Roman Ca-tholicism, and attacked and invadedneighboring European nations. Insteadof bringing in, under him, and utilizingthe armed power of other European na-tions, Hitler DESTROYED that power, andattempted to hold opposing Europeanpeoples in conquered subjection by hisGestapo!

Hitler envisioned himself as a Manof Destiny-and so he is! For he it iswho started the first phase of what is tolead, very soon now, into the prophesiedrise of the "BEAST" out of "the bottom-less pit,"

But the PROPHECY of this event reoveals that when it is accomplished itwill be by a UNION of ten nations inEurope, uniting Church and State-notby a single German nation destroyingthe other nations and opposing theRoman Church. Therefore that first ef-fort of Hitler had to fail.

But HITLER'S PLAN FOR WORLD RULE

IS NOT DEAD! Before Germany sur-rendered, in May, 1945, the Nazis wentunderground! Hitler had made elaboratepreparations for carrying on his crusadeunderground in the event of defeat inhis first attempt.

To Be Resurrected

Soon, now, prophecy reveals, the verymovement Hitler started will emergeabove ground before a scunned and awe-struck world! But the body that shallbe resurrected will not be the same bodythat went underground. It will reappear,not as a NAZI movement, but as purelyFASCIST!

And what's the difference? Nazismhas always been defined as the GERMANform of Fascism. And so it is, with oneslight shade of difference! The Fake Suicide Proclaimed

Here are the facts, as they happened:April 30, 1945: Defenses around

Berlin had virtually collapsed. In Hit-ler's underground Bunker, 5 stories be-neath the Reichschancellery, JosephGoebbels, Martin Bormann, and twogenerals, Krebs and Burgdorf, drafted aletter to Russian Marshal Zhukov. Theyrequested peace negotiations, and madeclaim of Hitler's alleged death.

May 1, 1945: General Krebs, who hadacted as messenger in taking the letterto Marshal Zhukov, returned to thebunker. The Russians had refused ne-gotiations, demanded unconditional sur-render. A secret telegram was then sentto Admiral Doenitz. Thereupon Doe-nitz broadcast over Hamburg radio tothe world the claim that Hitler had dieda "hero's death." Doenitz announcedHitler had appointed him successor, inSupreme Command.

The British Foreign Office, obviouslydisbelieving the report, immediately de-manded Hitler's hody be produced bythe Germans. But they never pressedthe demand.

May 2, 1945: President Truman tolda press conference he was certain Hit-ler was dead. He claimed the best au-thority for this information. He neverdisclosed this "authority," however-be-cause there was none! An American in-telligence officer later revealed Tru-man's reason for claiming the Fuehrerwas dead. He thought ir would have thepsychological effect of causing the Ger-mans to surrender more quickly.

Why Was Hitler Never Tried?

The President had absolutely NO EVI-DENcE of Hitler's death. He put his per-sonal authority on the hoax of AdmiralDoenirz becaJlse he thought it wouldhave a desired effect on the Germans.

When the surviving Nazi leaderswere tried at Nuremburg as war crimi-nals, Martin Bormann, even thoughmissing, was tried in absentia, and foundguilty.

BUT NO CHARGES EVER WEREBROUGHT BEFORE THE NUREMBERGCOURT AGAINST HITLER! Why? Simplybecause of Mr. Truman's blunder. Be-cause Truman had told the world Hitlerwas dead, he was never tried.

What a fatal blunder that was! TheGerman Peace Treaty has now beensigned with the Western German Gov-ernment at Bonn. THAT TREATY ENDSALLIED POWER TO TRY HITLER as a warcriminal, if and when he "comes to life"in the open!

In other words, HITLER IS TODAY

To fulfill prophecy, it is probable thatall Germany must re-unite. This worldmay be on the very threshold of its moststartling news event in 2,000 years!

No Proof Hitler Died

General Eisenhower said for publica-tion on October 12, 1945 regarding Hit-ler's supposed death, "there is not a bitof positive proof. The Russians (theywere first to occupy Berlin) have beenunable to unearth one single bit oftangible evidence of Hitler's death."

The chief of the U. S. trial counsel atNuremburg, Thomas J. Dodd, says: "Noone can say he is dead."

Maj. Gen. Floyd Parks who was com-manding general of the U. S. sector inBerlin stated for publication he had beenpresent when Marshal Zhukov describedhis entrance into Berlin, and had over-seen a careful investigation at theReichschancellery bunker. Zhukov, hestated, believed Hitler might have es-caped. Not a shred of evidence wasfound by the Russians of his death.

Lt. Gen. Bedell Smith was Chief ofStaff to Gen. Eisenhower in the Euro-pean invasion, now Director of Ameri-can Central Intelligence Agency, a topsecret bureau. On OCt. 12, 1945, he pub-licly stated: "No human being can sayconclusively that Hitler is dead."

Only One Eye-Witness

From testimony of the Fuehrer's serv-ants and minor officials, taken into cus-tody by the Russians when they firstentered Berlin, these pieces of informa-tion were gleaned:

On April 30th, 1945, the day Hitlercertainly disappeared and is supposed tohave died, all occupants of the under-~round bunker were ordered not to ap-pear in corridors, and to remain out ofsight. All guards were dismissed. Reich-leiter Bormann took over complete su-pervision, with Goebbels, Gen. Burg-dorf, the Fuehrer's personal servantHeinz Linge, and S.S. Adjutant Otto

Guensche assisnng.That evening occupants were told by

Bormann that Hitler and Eva Braun hadcommitted suicide together, and theirbodies had been burned in the Reichs-chancellery Garden. There was no eye-witness among them. Those who assistedBormann were dead or missing.

But later an "eye-witness" was located-Erich Kempa, the Fuehrer's chauffeur.He was captured by U. S. airmen atBerchtesgaden. Kempa claimed he hadbeen ordered, at 2:40 p.m. April 30thto bring gasoline to the Garden. He saidhe saw Bormann carrying a woman'sbody which he believed to be that ofEva Braun. He claimed he saw Lingecarry the corpse of Adolph Hitler,wrapped in a gray blanket, and thatthese bodies were soaked in gasolineand burned in a ditch in the Garden.

However, under cross-examination byThomas J. Dodd at the Nuremburg trioals, Mr. Dodd asked him, "Did you ac-tually see Hider?"

"I did not see all of him," Kempathen testified. "The blanket in which hewas wrapped was rather short, and Ionly saw his legs hanging out."

The face was covered. The "eye-wit-ness" boomeranged. Kempa did not seeHitler at all.

Proof Positive Hider Escaped

The Russian forces dug into theReichschancellery Garden, and dug upmore than one body with Hitler's namesewed on their clothes. NOT ONE WASHITLER'S BODY-they were merelycorpses in some of Hitler's clothes!

Now comes positive evidence by Col.W. F. Heimlich, former Chief, UnitedStates Intelligence, at Berlin. For publi-cation he has stated these facts:

A week after Hitler's reported death,he was commissioned to go to Berlinand prove that Hitler was dead. Underhis direction, two dozen workmen, withshovels, picks and axes completely ex-cavated the Reichschancellery Garden insearch of Hitler's body. Every inch ofdirt and debris was carefully screenedwith coarse, and then fine screens. Anysmall evidence of a piece of a humanbody was searched for--even one toothwould have been sufficient to identifyHitler, for they had X-rays of his head,his teeth, and every part of Hitler's body.

His final report of this minute investi-gation was: "there was no evidence be-yond that of hear-say to support thetheory of Hitler's suicide." He also stated: "On the basis of present evidenceno insurance company in America wouldpay a death claim on Adolph Hitler."

Now the Russians had found someburned bodies. But every one of thesehad been easily identifiable, and not one

The Roman Catholic Church wantsthe public to know about its efforts toseek a peaceful solution of the world'sills. Recent pontiffs have published nu-merous encyclical letters and made manyspeeches to this end. The Church ap-pears before the world as a peace rnak-lng body.

But the public is not told the secretplans known only to a select few Catho-lics in official positions.

However, when one has access to thegreat mass of recent papal encyclicalsand pronouncements, startling facts be-gin to emerge.

The Strange Little Book Shop

The other day I ran across a strangelittle bookshop, unlike any in America.This Catholic shop is located on theStrand, in London. It is named in honorof "St. Duckett," a Catholic slain overthree centuries ago in England for hisreligious belief. Beside the entrance is awhite image of "St. Duckett."

Entering, a narrow, dusty stairwayled to several rooms filled with ancientand modern publications. In this bookshop are many documents and papalpronouncements containing the Vati-can's plans for America and the world-documents that could not be found inthe United States.

Few, except certain Catholics, takecognizance of the Roman Church's dip-lomatic peace efforts. This giganticmovement, unrealized by the world, isdestined to astound the world and alterWestern civilization at its foundation.The eyes of the general public havebeen focused too closely upon the re-armament contest, the struggle with theKremlin, Korea, and the political cam-

paigns to recognize the true significanceof this crusade from Rome.

But with experience in research, andwith access to these official papal docu-ments, a most astonishing truth comesto light. The following declarations andrevelations are a result of my study ofthese papers, records, and documents.

Basic Roman Policy Revealed

The non-Catholic public is not awareof the basic Catholic policy. That policyis to establish her order-her rule-s-overthe world. This is not a new policy.

The popes virtually ruled the westernworld for over 1200 years, thru theMiddle Ages. During past centuries thepopes, successfully and unsuccessfully,mediated between nations when rulingthe Holy Roman Empire. It was theChurch that during the Middle Agesestablished the "Pope's Peace" in whichefforts were made to limit the numberof days on which wars could be foughtand to segregate civilians from thewanton ravages of warfare.

"If the people were rurbulenr, theChurch was at once the mediator fatpeace," said Leo XIII. If emperors, kingsand princes erred, it was the Churchwhich interposed by its authority.

Just as the Catholic Church once im-posed her order upon nations and peo-ples, she again is seeking to establish a"Christian order which alone is able toguarantee peace. To this goal the re-sources of the Church now are directed.So said Pope Pius in his Christmasbroadcast on December 24, 1951, lessthan a year ago. Note that the resourcesof the entire Church are being directedtoward this basic goal.

On February 10, 1952, in his pontifi-cal exhortation to the faithful of Romehe said that "the whole world must berebuilt from its foundations." This isthe gigantic task about which the worldknows little. But under cover, secretly,the Vatican's diplomats and clerics arelaying the foundations of a program thatWILL REMAKE WESTERN CIVILIZA

TION! It has to be planned secretly soit will not be discovered until it is toolate to stop it!

A Wodd Government Planned!

The obvious failure of the United Na-tions was foreseen by the Vatican. Itwas not caught unprepared in the pres-ent struggle for world rule betweenEast and West. In fact, at the very timethat the United Nations Conference wasbeing held in San Francisco to chart aWorld Organization, Mr. Armstrong waspresent at a Catholic service in whichthe prelate delivered a sermon tellingwhy the United Nations would fail.Many of you may have read in thePLAINTRUTH his report of that meetingin which the bishop quoted Psalm 127: 1...Except the Lord build the house, theylabour in vain that build it: except theLord keep the city, the watchman wakethbur in vain."

The Catholic Church professes to re-alize what the politicians do not know-that God must be the AUTHOR andPRESERVER of peace and world order. Itremains, according to Catholic teaching,for their Church to establish that orderand preserve that peace for which theyclaim God as the Author. Now let's ex-amine the Pope's New Order whichpurports to be from God.

The Vatican contends that peace canbe maintained only by an internationalorganization which has iron teeth tocrush opposition.

"This organization," said Pope Pius inhis Christmas message of 1944, para-graph 60, "will be vested by commonconsent with lupreme authority tmdwith power to smother in its germinalstage any threat of isolated or collectiveaggression."

Last year he added these vital words:"disarmament . . . is an unstable gUM-antee of lasting peace."

Notice the kind of organization en-visioned. It will be vested with SU-PREME AUTHORITY AND POWER, It willbe armed to quell oppa.rition. In whom

will the Pope invest this great power?That is what he has been hoping to keepsecret, but the truth has been discovered!

Before I explain this startling revela-tion discovered during our stay in Lon-don, there are other papal pronounce-ments to consider first.

Church Superior to StateIt has been a consistent teaching of

the Vatican that the free consent of thepeople is NOT enough to confer authori-ty on civil government. The CatholicChurch professes to recognize that theultimate source of authority is fromGod. But through whom is God to exer-cise His authority? Through the Papacy!

Said Pope Pius in his Christmas mes-sage less than a year ago:

"Peace, as We have said, cannot be as-sured unless God reigns. . . in the dulyorganized society of nations . . . an or-der guaranteed by the Church accordingto her office and in her own field ofaction."

By what right does the CatholicChurch claim to exercise this mandate?By the fact that Christ is declared tohave "established on earth a societywhich is called the Church, and to it Hehanded over the exalted and divine of-fice which He had received from HisFather," according to Leo XIII in para-graph 8 of "The Christian Constitutionof States."

There is the answer. By Catholic doc-trine, the Church is invested with powerto sit in the place of Christ over humanaffairs to regulate and control the com-Ing New Order. Ruling, not as Christ'sinstrument carrying out Christ's will, buthaving ttlken over, by the Church's will.To deny this claimed authority, saidPope Leo XIII in the last century, is tobelieve "just as if there were no God."And, he says further that "it is a publiccrime to act as though there were noGod."

Take careful note of these statements;for to Catholics they bear the mark ofinfallibility. The international organiza-tion planned by the Vatican, professingto have derived its authority from God,will actually be guaranteed by theChurch. It will be a public crime to re-sist the power wielded by the Church inthe name of God-a crime punishableby death unless recanted of.

For the past three quarters of a cen-tury, the Popes have laid careful plansfor this organization. "To princes andother rulers of the State we have offeredthe PROTECTION OF RELIGION," saidLeo XIII. "Our present object is to makerulers understand that this protection,which is stronger than any, IS AGAINOFFERED TO THEM; and We earnestlyexhort them in our Lord TO DEFEND RE-LIGION . . . giving that liberty to theChurch which cannot be taken away

without injury and ruin to the common-wealth."

The pope's plan offers the protectionof religion to political rulers who willdefend the Chnrch and leave her free todictate her own will. Not Christ's will-her own will.' This kind of relationshipwhich is not only external, but internaland vital, is a concordat. The Church,defended by the international armedmight of the several nations, guaranteesthe supreme authority of the govern-ment over the people by means of herteaching. To protect herself against thepoliticians, however, the Church de-mands that the people be given certainfreedoms with which, in case of neces-sity, she can repress usurpation of re-ligious powers by the State.

What Kind of Freedoms?Catholic doctrine carefully distin-

guished between "license" and "liberty.""That liberty is truly genuine," saidPope Leo in the "Christian Constitutionof States," paragraph 37, "and to besought after, which in regard to the in-dividual does NOT allow men to beslaves of error and of passion, the worstof all masters; which, too, in public ad-ministration guides the citizens in wis-dom and provides for them increasedmeans of well-being; and which, further,protects" the State from foreign inter-ference.

The freedom that the Church wouldallow does not permit the belief of "er-ror." What is "error"? Opposition toCatholic doctrine. In other words, underthis system, everyone, including you,will not be allowed to believe any otherform of doctrine-that would be con-spiring against the established religionof the State.

In connection with the above "free-doms," Pope Pius XII, in his dissertationon Democracy in 1944, said that theremust be an "absolute order of beingsand purposes"-"inequalitier of culture,possessions, social standing." "ON THERECOGNITION OF THIS PRINCIPLEHANGS THE FUTURE PEACE OF THEWORLD." Peace, as the Vatican is plan-ning, rests upon inculcating into thepeople the idea that autocratic leadersare invested with "divine" prerogatives,whose wills must be followed as fromGod.

Church Hampered by Two Forces

There are two major forces whichhandicap the Church in realizing itsplans. These are, according to Pope Pius,collectivism (Communism) and WEST-ERN DEMOCRACY. Communism rejectsthe dignity of the individual by relegat-ing him to the station of an automaton.The Catholic Church cannot govern theCommunist nations for quite apparentreasons.

Of Western Democracy, the pontiffsaid: OOIts strength is not based upontrue freedom. This is a new dan~erwhich threatens the peacet and which,in the light of Christian social order,We must deprecate. It is because of thisthat not a few highly placed persons inwhat is called the free world are hostileto the Church." (From his Christmasbroadcast, 1951.)

The Western or Free World is chargedrightly or wrongly by the pope withthreatening the peace. Therefore hemust deprecate it-speak against it. Thespecific Causes which prevent the popefrom securing domination and carryingout his peace plan in the free nationsare two: the Church of England, whichdominated that country, as we havefound since being here, and the UnitedStates Constitution, which prevents aunion of Church and State.

Since the Western World by its po-litical structure can not be used as a toolto establish the supremacy of the Vati-can over the world, then how andth,.ough whom is the pope secretlyworking?

In February of this year, in his pon-tifical exhortation to the faithful ofRome, rhe pontiff remarked: "This isnot the moment to discuss, to search fornew principles, to fix new aims andgoals. Both the one and the other, al-ready known and in substance recog-nized . . . clearly taught by the Churchdown the ages, and adapted to immedi-ate circumstances by' the late SupremePontiffs, need nothing more now thtmconcrete realization."

Notice, the pope's goal is not new,it is the very one the Catholic Churchhas had through the ages and which asalready described, is world dominion.ALL THAT REMAINS IS CONCRETE RE-ALIZATION! Therefore it must benearing completion after decades ofwork.

The method of carrying out the planhas been "adapted to immediate circum-stances." There is not a set rule. Di-plomacy and duplicity vary with circum-stances. This is exactly the policy setdown by Leo XIII in his encyclical letteralready quoted from. "It is," he said,"barely possible to lay down any fixedmechod by which such purposes are tobe attained, because the means adoptedmust suit the places and the times wide-ly differing from one another. Never-theless, above all things, unity of aimmust be preserved. . . :' (paragraph47).

With Whom Is the VaticanSecretly Collaborating?

You will notice how ten days weredropped out. One day was the 4th, andthe very next day was the 15th of Oc-tober. But the 4th was Thursday, andthe next day was FRIDAY.

To make it still plainer, the 29th ofSeptember that year was a Sabbath, orSaturday. The 30th was Sunday. The Istof October was Monday, the 2nd wasTuesday, the 3rd was Wednesday, the4th was Thursday, and the next day wasFriday, but it was not the 5th, it was the15th. And the following day was Sarur-day, the 16th. Actually Saturday, the16th was just one week of seven days

To correct this, ten days were droppedfrom the calendar. But they weredropped only from the number of daysin the MONTH, not from the number ofdays in the WEEK. A man named Liliusproposed the method which was adoptedin making the change. In the CatholicEncyclopedia, Vol. 9, p. 251, under arri-cle "Lilius," explaining this change, weread: "Thus, every imaginable proposi-tion was made, only one idea was nevermentioned, viz., the abandonment of theseven-day week."

In the Catholic Encyclopedia, Vol. III.p. 740, article "Chronology," we read:"It is to be noted that in the Christianperiod, the order of days in the week hasnever been interrupted. Thus, whenGregory XIII reformed' the calendar 101582, Thursday, 4 October was followedby Friday, 15 October. So in England, in1752, Wednesday, 2 September, was fol-lowed by Thursday, 14 September."

Since the Catholics changed the calen-dar, the Catholic Encyclopedia is the besthistoric authority there is on the quesrion, and is proof positive.

So that the reader may clearly under-stand it, and SEE how it was worked outon the Calendar, we reproduce belowthe actual calendar. The change wasmade in Spain, Portugal, and Italy, in1582. Here is the calendar for October,1582!

after the preceding Saturday, the 29th ofSeptember. There had been exactly sev-en days, seven sunsets, from one Sabbath to the next. The change in thecalendar DID NOT IN ANY WAY CHANGETHE SABBATH, or the succession of theDAYS OF THE WEEK.

Now the British countries refused tochange the calendar when the pope or-dered it. They continued with the oldJulian calendar until 1752. And whiletheir days of the month were different,yet their days of the week were JUSTTHE SAME AS IN ROME. Those who keptthe Sabbath in England kept the sameSATURDAY that was called Saturday inRome. Those who observed Sunday ob-served the same day, both in Romewhere the calendar had been changed,and in London where it had not.

The English countries changed thecalendar in 1752. By that time it wasnecessary to drop out 11 days. Thechange was made in September as fol-lows:

Now in Russia, the calendar was nev-er changed until just recently, IN OUROWN LIFETIME. Consequently, in theyear 1907, the day that we called the14th of August, the Russians called theIst of August. Our calendars were 13days apart. Yet in BOTH countries, weboth called that same day SATURDAY. InBOTH countries, SATURDAY fell on thesame day of the week. The calendar hassince been changed in Russia. And stilltheir Sunday is our Sunday-their Satur-day is our Saturday. For reference, seeabove article, "Chronology," Catholic En-cyclopedia.

And so we see that the calendar thathas been IN EFFECT SINCE 31 B.C.-prior to the birth of Christ, proves thatthere has never been any change in theweekly cycle from the time of Christuntil now. The SATURDAY of today isthe same Seventh day of the week as itwas in CHRIST'S time. We can, there-fore, be sure we keep the same Sabbathday that Christ kept, setting us an ex.

GRANTED, the Bible says the SEV-ENTH day is the SABBATH OFTHE LORD THY GOD. Granted,that God did, at creation, make the sev-enth day HOLY TIME, and that He hascommanded us to KEEP it holy.

The Questions

But how can we know, today, WHICHday is the true seventh day God blessedand made holy AT CREATION?

Has time been lost? Has the calendarbeen CHANGED? Were not ten daysdropped Out of it at one time?

And how about living on a roundearth? Does not one either "gain a day,"or "lose a day" in traveling around theworld?

And how about JOSHUA'S LONG DAY?Did that change the weekly cycle?

How can we know that the name"Saturday," which is a pagan name, wasplaced on the seventh day of the weekaccording to the Hebrew calendar?

To all these questions, there is ,1definite answer-and many lines ofPOSITIVE PROOF! God's Word says"Prove all things." Let us banish allprejudice. Let us throw out preconceivedor past opinions. Let us investigate andfind the TRUTH.

Past Calendar Changes

The calendar now in use, a Romancalendar, has been changed, but thatchange did not break the weekly cycle.

Prior to its change, it was called theJulian calendar, because it originated atthe time of Julius Caesar; 31 B.C.-several years before the birth of Christ.The one change was ordered by PopeGregory, and since then it has beencalled the Gregorian calendar.

The Julian calendar was imperfect-it inserted leap years tOO frequently.Back in 31 B.c. they supposed the yearwas exactly 365~ days long, and to takecare of the extra one-fourth day eachyear, added a day to the month of Febru-ary every four years. But it was foundlater the year was 12 minutes and 14seconds shorter than this. Consequently,by the time of Pope Gregory, the calen-darhad drifted TEN DAYS away from theIe6SOns. The Spring equinox, conse-quently, fell on March 11th, instead ofMarch 21st.

Gaining or Losing a Day TravelingAround the WorId

Next let us consider this argumentthat we "gain a day" or "lose a day," de-pending on which way we are traveling,in going acound the world.

Did you ever stop to wonder howJonah came to be out on a wild sea, sohe could be swallowed by the great fish?Jonah was commanded of God to per-form a certain task. But Jonah did notwant to obey. So he embarked on a ship,in an attempt to escape "from the pres-ence of the Lord." Read Jonah 1: 1-3.Now wasn't it silly for Jonah to thinkthat by journeying away from home ona boat, he could escape from the com-mand of God?

But we have many modern Jonahs.They try to tell us that a certain com-mand, proclaimed by God's own voiceto all His congregation, cannot really beobeyed if we embark on a boat and trav-el far away from home, either east orwest. It is the command which says:"Remember the Sabbath day to keep itholy ... the SEVENTH DAY is the Sab-bath of the Lord thy God." Did God socomplicate this command that it wouldrequire an astronomer to tell us how toobey?

It might seem to some, who do notstop to think very deeply, that you havelost a day if you travel westward aroundthe woc1d----or gained a day if yOIl traveleastward. But this loss or gain is appar-ent, NOT REAL.

Think what would happen if thiswere so. Imagine twin brothers, onetraveling westward around the world,the other traveling eastward. If one has

really lost a day, while rhe other gaineda day, then after one such journey, onebecomes lWO DAYS OLDER than his twinbrother. If they took enough trips, onewould ill lime be enough older to bethe father of his own twin brother! Thisis ridiculous, but it illustrates the point.

When a person travels, his days arenot of even length. The man who travelsfrom San Francisco to New York in oneday by airplane finds that this particularday, for him, is counted as only 21 hours,because the sun sets three hours earlierin New York than in San Francisco, andtherefore there is three hours differencein time between these two cities. If theman returns, also by plane, he finds hisday on the return trip is computed as27 hours.

H he leaves San Francisco at 5 A.M.,and arrives in New York exactly twelvehours later, his watch will register 5P.M., but all watches and clocks in NewYork will register 8 P.M. To computetime as others do there, he will have toset his watch up three hours.

H he kept traveling around the earth,he would have to keep changing hiswatch, until he had added 24 hours, tohis watch. by the time he returned toSan Francisco. But did he really add ADAY to his life? Of course not. The onlychange is in the way men COUNT time.This is merely a trick argument designedto confuse people, and justify them indisobeying the commands of God. Sin isthe transgression of the Law-and thewages of sin is DEATH!

What Is a Day?

The correct Bible definition of a"DAY" is not 24 hours of a man-madewatch, but that period of time from sun-set to sunset. A day is not measured bythe journey of the earth PLUS our jour-ney ON the earth.

The Sabbath is to be observed "fromeven unto even." (Lev. 23:32) A dayENDS, and another begins, when the sunsets. (See Mark 1:32, Luke 4:40, etc.)See any encyclopedia. History shows thatit was always custom to end and begindays at sunset until a few hundred yearsafter Christ.

We live on a round earth. A day ismeasured by the revolution of the earthon its axis, in relation to the sun. Sincethe Sabbath day begins and ends atSUNSET, we observe it here when thesun sets HERE. But the sun sets threehours earlier in New York than on thePacific Coast, hence Sabbath-keepersthere hegin their Sabbath three hoursearlier than we on the Coast. In Londonthe Sabbath begins nine hours earlierthan on the Pacific Coast, if kept ac-cording to God's directions.

The answer to it all is, WE KEEP THEDAY WHEN THE DAY COMES TO US.

Jerusalem is God's headquarters forthe earth. That is where Jesus kept theSabbath, and we know HE had it right!Authorities believe it was by God's guid-ance that men were caused to set the in-ternational "date line" (where, becauseof a round earth turning on its axis aday must be dropped or added IN COM-PUTATION), in the middle of the Pa-cific where it affects virtually nobodyand almost exactly OPPOSITE from Je-rusalem.

As time is now computed. Sabbath-keepers the world over keep the SAMESABBATH, when it comes to them, thatis and always has been the seventh dayof the week AT JERUSALEM. But, forthe simple reason that the Bible tells usto begin our Sabbath at SUNSET, and thesun does nor set at the same time invarious parts of the earth, the holy hoursof the Sabbath begin, in China, severalhours earlier than in Jerusalem-andlikewise, in America several hours LATERthan in Jerusalem. But, beginning in themiddle of the Pacific, half way aroundthe earth from Jerusalem, ALL EVBRY-WHERE ON EARTH KEEP THE SAMEDAY, as that day comes to them, THATIS KEPT AT JERUSALEM. Sunday ob-servers have no trouble figuring whentheir Sunday comes to them, anywhereon the earth. We cannot run away fromthis truth on a boat.

That Long Day of Joshua's

There is still another argument. Thelong day of Joshua when the sun stoodstill for "about a whole day" is figuredaround in a manner to show that Sundayis the seventh day of the week.

The Bible account is found in Joshua10: 12-14. "Then spake Joshua to theLord, . . . and he said in the sight ofIsrael, Sun, stand thou still upon Gib-eon; and thou, moon, in the valley ofAjalon. And the sun stood still, and themoon stayed . . . and hasted not to godown about a whole day."

Based on this is an ingenious argu-ment, accompanied by a diagram, sup-posed to show that today Sunday is ac-tually the continuation of the seventhday from creation. The gist of the arBU-rnent is this:

"Joshua showed that the sun and themoon were within a few minutes of go-ing into conjunction in the position heplaced them when he issued his com-mand. Thus this week contained a twen-ty-four hour period without a cor-responding sunrise and sunset . . .Professor Totten has clearly demonstrat-ed that the conjunction was due to occuron Tuesday at 11: 13 A.M.... Accord-ing to the accompanying diagram it isapparent that this particular week, fromSabbath day to Sabbath day, saw onlysixsunrises and six sunsets, though it con-

Day as TWO DAYS. Figuring that way,this day is made the 7th day of the week.Then, in the top line by re-numberingthis day as ONE day-the 3rd day of theweek-the day he has called Thursdayis the 4th day, Friday is the 5th day, andSaturday is the 6th day of the week.This, of course, brings Sunday out the7th day.

Now this "Joshua's Long Day" Cannotbe two days-the 3rd and the 4th daysof the week-as it is numbered below,and also at the same time be just ONEDAY, the 3rd day, as figured in the topcolumn.

WHICH IS IT, the 3rd day of theweek-Tuesday, or the 3rd and the 4thdays-Tuesday AND Wednesday? Sincethe Bible calls it "A DAY" and not twodays, it is only ONE DAY, Tuesday, the3rd day of the week, as shown in thecorrect diagram.

The error in the first diagram is incalling this day one day in one place, andtwo days another time. Actually it wasjust ONE DAY, Tuesday the 3rd day ofthe week. The day he has labeled Satur-day, therefore, is NOT SATURDAY ATALL, but actually Friday, the 6th day ofthe week. And the seventh day shouldnor be labeled Sunday as in his diagram,but Saturday, as in the second diagram.And that is exactly the way it actuallyu/a: coiensed. in history! It is surelyPLAIN that this first diagram is a decep-tion and a delusion.

But now, finally, to PROVE the wholething, let us remember this: To estab-lish WHICH DAY is the true Sabbath-the true SEVENTH DAY from creation,

which God MADE HOLY TIME, we needto go back no further than the time ofChrist!

For, if this Joshua's long day argu-ment is true, then JESUS PROFANED THESABBATH GOD MADE HOLY TIME, andobserved the 6th, not the true 7th day.And if we accuse Jesus of that, we ac-cuse Him of committing SIN, for sin isthe transgression of the law, and no onewill argue that the Sabbath point of thelaw was abolished during Jesus' life-time! If he sinned, then we are withoutHOPE!

Joshua's long day was approximately48 hours of a man-made watch, but itwas ONE DAY, and tho Biblo calls IT aDAY, and specificallysays it was DIFFER-ENT from other days- "there was noDAy"-not "days" but "day"-"like ITbefore or after IT." The pronoun "it" issingular: JUSt ONE DAY! God says so!!God's week is not made of seven 24-hour periods, but of seven days countingfrom sunsets. A diagram showing thisas it actually IS, according to the Bibleand God's reckoning of time follows:

A Trick Intended to Deceive

Do you notice the trick employed asa means of deception in the first dia-gram? "Joshua's Long Day," as it isplainly labeled in the diagram-a day-one single day-is marked "Tuesday"and "Wednesday"-as if it were twodavs. At the bottom of the diagram, it isnumbered the 3rd and the 4th days ofthe week-TWO DAYS. Then at the topof the diagram it is re-numbered a dif-ferent way-as ONE DAY, the "3rd" dayof the week. The day labeled "Saturday"is arrived at by counting Joshua's Long

rained the nominal seven times twenty-four hour periods.... Numbering ac-cording to twenty-four hour periods itis seen that Saturday is the seventh day.If however, we number our days accord-ing to the sunsets, then it is clear thatSunday becomes the seventh day fromcreation."

Following is a reproduction of thediagram used to present this argument:

Surely the reader can see what isWRONG with this argument, and thisdiagram. First, it is stated, "according tothe accompanying diagram, it is appar-ent that this particular week, from Sab-bath day to Sabbath day, saw only sixsunrises and sunsets." That is true, ac-cording to this diagram. But NOT AC-CORDING TO GOD'S WORD! The diagramis in ERROR!

What is wrong? Simply this: GaDSAYS, "from even unto even shall yecelebrate your Sabbath," The days OFmE WEEK are counted from SUNSETTO SUNSET, according to the measuringof time in the first chapter of Genesis.It is stated each day that the evening andthe morning were the first day"-"thesecond day," and so on. Nowhere doesGod's Word say "The first 24 hours wasthe first day! and the next 24 hours wasthe second day," etc. GOD DOES NOTCOUNT TIME ACCORDING TO MAN-MADE WATCHES AND CLOCKS! Godcounts DAYS according to the SETTINGOF THE SUN.

Now in this man-made diagram, theMAN who designed it called this long dayof Joshua's two days-Tuesday andWednesday. Is this in harmony with theBIBLE? Does the BIBLE call this longday TWO DAYS? Notice, in speaking ofit, in Joshua 10: 14, it distinctly says"And there was NO DAY like it before orafter it." The Bible calls it a DAY-justONE DAY. But in order to twist it aroundto conform to the broad and popularway of observing the pagan Sunday, thisone Day must be counted as TWO DAYS.BUT THAT IS CONTRARY TO THE SCRIP-TURES.

Next, this argument ingeniously con-fuses the reader between numbering ac-cording to 24-hour periods, and number-

the RIGHT day. He was the Maker, andLord of that day (Mark 2:27-28). Hekept the TRUE SABBATH, and the calen-dar record PROVES that the Saturday oftoday is the exact SAME seventh Jay Je:iUskept. Certainly we should want to keepthe same day Jesus kept!

God Revealed the CreationSabbath to Israel

In the days of Moses, God reveal~dthe true creation Sabbath to all the Chil-dren of Israel, in the raining of mannafrom heaven. The Israelites had been400 long years in servitude and ~ndagein Egypt. They were not.permitted .tohave any religious worshIP. or serviceduring these many generations. Theyhad no Bible, no Scriptures, no writtenrecord of God's commands or ways.Perhaps they had lost time, and did notknow which was the true Sabbath.

At the wilderness of Sin, twO weeksbefore arriving at Sinai, they grumbledand complained from lack of food. TheLord said "Behold, I will rain bread fromheaven for you . . . that I may provethem, whether they will walk in MYLAW or no."

This has to do with whether we willkeep GOD'S LAW. To disobey is SIN. AndMoses and Aaron said to the people,"At even (sunset), then ye shall knowthat the Lord hath brought you out fromthe land of Egypt: and in the morning,then ye shall see the glory of the lord."

"And Moses spake unto Aaron, Sayunto all the congregation of the Chil-dren of Israel, Come near before theLord ... and it came to pass, as Aaronspake unto the whole congregation ofthe Children of Israel, that they lookedtoward the wilderness, and behold, theglory of the Lord appeared in the cloud. . . And it came to pass, that at even(dusk), the quails came up, and coveredthe camp, and in the morning the dewlay round about the host." (Ex. 16:4-13.)

Notice, there was a RELIGIOUS AS-SEMBLY on this day, and the GLORY OFTHE LORD appeared. The quail did notcome up until the sun set. WHY? Be-cause this had been a Sabbath day. Atsunset, when it ended, the quails came,and the people were privileged to goto work gathering in food to eat. .

Next morning the manna fell. Thiswas the FIRST DAY of the week. If theytried to keep over any manna till thefollowing day, it bred worms and stank(verse 20) . On the sixth day (verse 22) ,twice as much came from heaven andthey all gathered twice as ':luc~. Then,that sixth day, the Lord said, Tomor-row is the rest of the holy Sabbath untothe Lord" (verse 23). They kept it over,and on this day it did not breed wormsnor stink.

However, on the seventh day some

of the people must have thought TIMEWAS LOST. They were like some modernpeople who were not sure WHICH DAYwas the Sabbath, or whether it makesany difference. They went out to gatheron the seventh day (verse 27) -ANDTHEY FOUND NONE! On this day Goddid not send any! So, by three miraclesGod showed them WHICH DAY was thetrue Creation Sabbath.

Time could not have been mixed upor lost under the strict Mosaic regimebetween then and the time of Christ.We have shown that joshua's Long Daywas just ONE DAY, and it did not chan~ethe reckoning of time in any way. If Itdid, then, as pointed out, Christ keptthe wrong day! And so we come to thetime of Christ, KNOWING that timewas not lost up to then.

The Proof of the Jews

Now if we are convinced that Jesusset us a RIGHT example, and that Heobserved the RIGHT seventh day, weneed have no further difficulty.

Notice, the day Jesus kept AS HISCUSTOM (Luke 4: 16) was the same dayall the Jews kept, for they were holdingtheir religious service in the synagogue-verses 17, 20.

About 43 years after this the Jewswere driven into EVERY NATION ONBARTH. From that time until now, theyhave been separated, scattered. into allnations. Thru the middle ages, the Jewsin China had no way of communicationwith the Jews of Africa; the Jews inEurope with those of other parts of theworld. Yet today, with communicationrestored over every part of the world,we do not find the Jews all mixed up.

If time had been lost, the Jews of onepart of the world would be observingone day, and the Jews of other partsother days. But everywhere-in EVERYNATION ON EARTH, we find the Jewshave been keeping the SAME IDENTI-CAL DAY-the day we call SATURDAY-the true seventh day.

The JEW is the miracle of all history-and the JEW is another proof that wehave not lost the Sabbath. Ask any or-thodox Jew today if HE has lost HISSabbath. Why, such an idea would benonsense to him. He is not in doubt!

The Proof of the Church

Another line of proof! We have ahistory of the true Church of God thruevery century from Christ until now. Ithas always been a SABBATH-KEEPINGChurch.

Thru the middle ages, just as prophe-sied in Rev. 12:6, this true Church hadto FLEE to the wilderness, clear beyondthe jurisdiction of the Roman Empir~,dominated by the Roman CatholicChurch.

In 363 A.D. the Roman Church passedthe Decree of the Council of Laodicea,pronouncing the DEATH SENTENCE uponany found to be keeping the Sabbath.Many true Christians were MARTYREDfor keeping this day. When men werewilling to GIVE THEIR LIVES in orderto keep God's commands, do you thinkthey could lose track of the right day?

And coming down to modern times,we find this Church, the true ChristianChurch, keeping the day we call Satur-day-the same day the Jews have beenkeeping right down thru every yearfrom Christ until now.

The Proof of Reason

And another line of proof. Whyshould time be lost? HOW COULD it belost? Stop, think! One person might,perhaps, wake up some Saturday morn-109 and think it was Friday, and thuswait until Sunday to keep his Sabbath.But for time to be lois, not only ONEMAN, but every other person in histown or city-every person in everyprovince, state, or county of the whole:world-every person in every nation onearth-would have to wake up the samemorning with the same hallucination!Do you think this possible? Yet you be-lieve this has happened if you believethat time has been lost!

Astronomy Proves It

Finally, we have the scientific proofof ASTRONOMY. We quote from theofficial government statements to theLeague of Nations, as published August17, 1926, in an official League docu-ment.

The government of Finland present-ed this observation from one of itsastronomers: "The reform (calendar reoform before the League) would breakthe division of tbe w6ek, which has beenfollowed for thousands of years, andtherefore has been hallowed by imme-morial use."

The government of France presentedthe following statements from two of itsleading astronomers: "One essentialpoint is that of the continuity of theweek ... a continuity which has exist-ed for so many centuries." "The con-tinuity of the week ... is without doubtthe most ancient scientific institutionbequeathed to us by antiquity:' StatedProf. D. Eginitis, director of the Ob-servatory of Athens, a member of theLeague Committee, "The continuity ofthe week . . . has crossed the centuries,and all known calendars, still intact."

And we could go on and on. But thisis enough. We have presented the proofof history, the proof of the calendar, theproof of the Jew, the proof of the mar-tyrs of the true Church, the proof of

Dear Friends:I would like to tell all of you a little

about our trip abroad. As most of youwho read the GOOD NEWS regularlyknow, Herman Hoeh and I are in Europethis summer doing research, gatheringmaterial for publication, and makingpreliminary plans for carrying the trueGospel to all Europe.

We arrived in London a few daysago and have not had time to make anyimportant contacts as yet, but I thoughtit would be interesting to let you knowhow we are faring on our journey.

We left Pasadena Sunday, June 8, at3:00 P.M. There was quite a crowd atthe depot to see us off including my fa-ther and mother and brother Ted, whohad just returned from Korea a fewweeks before we left, and my two sistersand their families as well as most of thestudents who had not left the college tospend summer vacation at home.

The train ride from Pasadena to Chi-cago was very restful after the last twoweeks of school, final exams and gradu-ation. From Chicago we flew to Montre-al, Canada, where we took another trainto Quebec to board the Cunard Liner"R.M.S. Franconia," a very nice ship of20,000 tons.

About eight hundred people wereaboard the ship. Herman and I becameacquainted with many of them who werefrom places all over the world. A manwho was from British Guiana, SouthAmerica told me there are less than100,000 Englishmen in that colony-the rest are natives, who are among themost backward peoples of the earth. Oneof the most interesting things he had tosay was concerning the government reg-ulations of their travel and money. Acitizen of one of Britain's Crown Col-onies is allowed to take only five poundsout of the colony and to bring about tenpounds into any other country. Thiswould be about $14.00. This is all hewas allowed on which to travel all theway from South America to England. Hesaid the only way one could really goanywhere was to be dishonest and dealwith blackmarket money-changers.

A bishop of the Church of Englandwith his wife and daughter were alsoaboard the ship. He had been on a lec-ture tour through Canada. He was veryinteresting to talk to and gave us quitean insight into the differences betweena federal government, silently controlled

by the Church and the religious freedomthat we have in America.

Our crossing of the North Atlantictook eight days. It was very foggy thefirst day out but later the sun brokethrough and the weather remainedbeautiful all the rest of the voyage. TheNorth Atlantic is characteristically oneof the roughest oceans on earth but wehad one of the calmest crossings thatthe crew of the ship had ever seen;which shows that the prayers of every-one at home were answered.

We docked in Liverpool, and boardeda little English train for London. Sincearriving here we've talked with severalpeople but as yet we haven't met thegovernment officials we plan to inter-view.

One of the things that has amazed memost has been the striking differencesbetween a country under socialist gov-ernment and one with a democracysuch as we have. I was talking with awoman the other night who told methat when she went to the dentist's of-fice to have two of her upper teethfilled, the dentist put her under gas andextracted all her upper teeth. They havesocialized medicine which costs thepublic only backbreaking taxes. Thedoctors and dentists are paid by the gov-ernment. Apparently the dentist re-ceived more money from the govern-ment for extracting more teeth, so hejust pulled them all out, and she had norecourse of any kind.

As you know the Conservatives arein the majority in Parliament again inEngland but not much of the control ofindustry, medicine or transportation hasbeen returned to private ownership. TheConservative party under WinstonChurchill actually holds a very slim ma-jority in Parliament, and most of thepeople to whom I've talked seem tohave more faith in socialism, eventhough they are extremely dissatisfiedwith it.

I mentioned that the Church controlsthe State here in England. Actually thatis more by a working agreement or anunderstood situation than by a writtenlaw. When Queen Elizabeth is crownedQueen of the British Empire next yearthe coronation will take place in West-minster Abbey-the national shrine ofEngland and the headquarters of theChurch. England but, though there is no IQW tothe effect, a prime minister of Englandor any other high government officialhas to belong to the Church of England.

When Herman and I went throughWestminster Abbey this afternoon wesaw the coronation chair and the Stoneof. Scone that rests beneath it. This issaid to be Jacob's pillar stone (Gen.28: 18), brought to Ireland about 600B.C. by the prophet Jeremiah. The an-cient Kings of Ireland and Scotland, andthe Kings and Queens of England haveall been crowned over this world-fa-mous Stone. It is described in "TbeUnited States in Prophecy."

There are hundreds of famous peopleburied in the Abbey, including most ofthe past Kings and Queens. However,the tomb that astounded me most wasthat of Charles Darwin, the man whoestablished the theory of Evolution andbrought forth the idea of "Natural Se-lection," (the survival of the fittest). Hewas one of the foremost evolutionists theworld has known. Darwin is buried inthe Abbey among the famous men ofBritain!

There are many American servicemenhere in London. I have actually seenmore American than British servicemenon the streets of London so far.

People here are very cordial towardAmericans. They like to talk with themand discuss the problems that face bothcountries. Most of them are far moreabreast of world conditions than theaverage American.

The one thing about America thatseems to amaze the British most is ourpolitical elections. I have told them thattheirs are just as baffling to me but Irather think that politics are baffling toanyone the world over.

We have seen much damage doneduring the war by the German bombers.There is no debris lying around in thestreets, as my parents saw it five yearsago, and one has to look twice some-times to tell that it is actually war darn-age. But there are sections, especiallyalong the Thames River, of severalsquare blocks that were leveled and havenot been rebuilt as yet. A great deal ofconstruction is going on and, on theWhole, England seems to be not just reocovering after the war but advancing inher recovery.

The hardest thing people here haveto put up with is the rationing of food.It has been a long time since anyone inEngland has been able to walk into a

grocery store and buy all he wanted ofsuch items as meat, sugar, butter, cheese,cooking fats, chocolates and candies.The rations for these items are beingdecreased this week. That is, it will takemore ration coupons to buy the same ar-ticle than it did before. Another interest-ing item is that taxes on all of these andmany other household commodities arebeing increased next month.

Britain's tightest pinch is in her eco-nomic condition. She is trying to main-tain a place that she has already lost inthe world, Twenty years ago she wasthe grearest, most prosperous nation onearth. Today We enjoy that position inthe United States. Dominions such asCanada and Australia are much betteroff than England herself.

England spent so much money onWorld War II that she will be a longtime paying off the national debt builtup during that period. She has tried toanswer that problem by turning to asocialism where all large businesses andpublic utilities such as the railroads,mining, steel, and coal industries areowned by the government. Also by tax-ing the people so greatly that they areallowed in fact only a subsistence wageafter the taxes have been paid.

It is actually the labor unions that arein control of the Government here now.I talked with a man who is in the busi-ness of importing fruit. He told me thatbefore the Labor Government took overhe could call a trucking company to pickup a load of fruit and a lorry (truck)would appear within the hour and de-liver the fruit. Now he has to call aweek in advance to get one truck.

His firm imports food from the restof the world and sells it here in Eng-land. If the market value on a certainitem is higher in another city than Lon-don, they ship their goods directly tothat city to be sold. The laborers demandthat they be paid for unloading thisfruit in London, even tho it is not un-loaded here. Their argument is thoughthey didn't unload the trucks they werethere and willing to do so, and shouldbe paid for it. Under the Labor Govern-ment the firm is forced to pay them,plus paying the men who unload it inthe other city. It is forced to pay twicefor one unloading. This all seems rathersilly to me but it is a trend in thinkingthat is sweeping the whole world today.We' have many similar situations athome with some of our own unions.

The general principle seems to be toget something for nothing and sit backand let the government support you.People don't seem to realize that thereis no value to money unless it repre-sents services rendered or production.The people who wish to obtain theirmoney so easily expect the government

to keep it at a high value. They don'twant to give it to someone else as readilyas they obtained it. This can't work fora whole nation. It would seem as thoughcommon sense would tell them that.

When Jesus uttered those words Hewas looking into the future-into ourvery present generation-which Hedearly foresaw. And, foreseeing the al-most total absence of FAITH in our time,He asked this question!

Certainly the world has almost lostsight of real FAITH. No wonder so fewhave any-no wonder so many say, "Myfaith isn't very strong"--or, "I justcan't seem to work up the faith." Peo-ple today do not know what faith is,or why they do not possess it. Yet with-out FAITH none can even be saved!

Jesus Had Faith!

When Jesus walked the earth inhuman flesh, HE possessed faith!

Yet He said plainly, "Of myself, ICan do NOTHING!"

Few realize that what He did-themiracles He performed-He did not doby any supernatural power of His own.Everything He did, every miracle Heperformed, was done literally THRUFAITH, setting us a beautiful example!

But how, then, did He perform Hismiracles - accomplish His mightyworks?

"The FATHER that dwelleth in me,explained Jesus, "HE doerh the works."

Yes, even as you and I may be, Jesuswas filled with God's Holy Spirit-God's dynamic supernatural POWER!This power of God Almighty the Cre-

SO now let's ask two questions:I st, What is Faith?And 2nd, How may we have it, and

how may it be increased?

What Faith IS

Now notice, Faith is the substance-the marginal rendering says "ASSUR-ANCE"-of things hoped for. You do nothope for that which you already have. SoFAITH comes before possession.

Once you have received the posses-sion, you no longer hope for it. Buteven before you receive it, you have it inSUBSTANCE-and that substance-thatASSURANCE that you shall possess it isFAITH.

Then again, faith is an EVIDENCE-the evidence of things not seen. Faithprecedes the actual receiving of whatyou ask for. And faith is the EVIDENCEyou shall have it, before you even SEE it.It is the EVIDENCE of things not yetseen. You do not have it. You do notsee it, or feel it-yet faith is your EVI-

DENCE that you have, or shall have it-faith is the substance-the ASSURANCBof receiving that which you still HOPBfor.

How to KNOW You Are Healed

So I want you to notice, that whenyou hope for things at ask God forthings, there is an EVIDENCE-a proofbecause evidence is proof-that youshall receive what you have asked. Andwhat is that proof-that evidence? Is itthe actual receiving of the answer, soyou see, or feel, or hear that you have it?

Suppose, for instance you were ill-taken with a disease. Now Jesus healedthe sick continually. And, He said, theworks that He did-and this was oneof them-should we do also. Now sup-pose you ask God to heal you. Natural-ly, you want some evidence that you arehealed.

So what is that evidence, that proof?Is it the evidence of the pain ceasing-or the swelling going down-somethingyou can feel, and see? I know a manwho said, "When I can see anyone healedby direct prayer, then I'll believe in it."This man said he wanted to BBLIEVE init-he wanted to have FAITH in it! Hewas looking for an EVIDENCE that hecould SEE-and he died without everseeing it! Because what we SBE-whatwe FEEL is not the true EVIDENCB. HAV-ING the thing-SEEING it-is not Faith.Faith precedes possession because FAITHis confi,dence-AssuRANcE-you shallpossess it.

Listen! The human mind, naturally,can receive KNOWLEDGE only thru thefive senses. These are the five sole chan-nels capable of transmitting knowledge,by natural processes, to the human mind.The senses of seeing, hearing, smelling,tasting, feeling.

But that, my friends, is not FAITH!Faith is a spiritual matter, and it hasnothing to do with the five senses, whichare physical.

Prayer is a spiritual matter. God is aSPIRIT! And when we ask, for instance,for healing, we do have an evidence-proof positive-that the healing wUlbe done-but that evidence is not some-thing seen, or felt, or heard-it is noc:

a physical evidence-it is rather thespiritual evidence of FAITH. FAITH isour evidence.

An Unusual Trial

Let's picture a trial in a court-room.It's a very strange-a most unusual trial:for the One being tried is none otherthan GOD ALMIGHTY! And you, yourself,are sitting as JUDGE and JURY. Theprosecuting attorney is Satan the Devil.Attorney for the Defense is the HolySpirit. God is accused of lying-of un-faithfulness-of obtaining things morevaluable than money under false pre-tenses! God is accused of willful non-payment of PROMISSORY NOTES.

You, now sitting as judge and jury,have read God's command and writtenPROMISE, in James 5:14, for your physi-cal healing when sick. You have prayedfor healing, according to God's writtenpromise. You have followed God's in-structions, and called the elders of thechurch, who have prayed over you theprayer of faith, and anointed you withoil.

The prosecuting attorne~, Satan, at-tempting to convict God of obtainingyour allegiance under false pretenses-of breaking His contract-of lying-presents before you, as judge and jury,his evidence.

"My evidence," says Satan suavely, "isliteral, tangible evidence that is real-evidence you can see and feel. You cansee for yourself that you are not healed.The pain is still there! In fact, perhapsit has grown worse! God gave you awritten promise, as certainly as anyoneever gave a promissory note. You con-formed to all His conditions. Youprayed. You called the elders of thechurch, and they prayed. You believed!But you can now see my evidence-youcan feel my evidence-you are still suf-fering-you are not healed! ThereforeGod did not heal you! God did notkeep His Word. God's Word, the Bible,lied to you. God FAILED! My evidenceis that which you plainly see, and feel!You ,"e not healed. Therefore I demandyou bring in a verdict of GUlLTY!-guilty in the first degree-i-i demand youfind Almighty God GUlLTY of lying, ofobtaining your allegiance under falsepretenses, of not performing what hepromised in his written promise."

But now the attorney for the defense-God's Holy Spirit-speaks to you,quietly, calmly.

He says to you: "I now present MYevidence that God's Word is TRUE-that God is faithful-that God can't lie.My evidence is not anything you cansee, or feel. My evidence is simpleFAITH-patient trust in the veracity ofGod's Word. It is impossible for Godto lie. My evidence is YOUR FAITH in

that fact, and in His promise. And FAITHis the evidence of that which is notseen, not felt!

"Let's review the case, and see clear-ly what happened. Let's understandplainly where Satan has clouded theissue and deceived you. God has toldyou, in Exodus 15, that HE is yourhealer-your GOD-healer-that is oneof His names, and God is named whathe is. God sent His Son into the worldto be beaten with stripes, to suffer thepenalty of your transgressions of nature'slaws, in your stead-His body was brok-en for you, and by His stripes, you arehealed! God gave you His Word thatit is His Will to heal you. He com-manded you to call the elders of thechurch, which you did. He promised,unconditionally, to heal you. But Godhas also made it a parr of this contract,in His Word, that, according to yourfaith, be it unto you, in the very wordsof Christ!

"Now FAITH is your evidence thatGod will do what he promised. You can'tsee faith-you can't [eel it. What yousee or feel has nothing to do with faith.But the point Satan wants you to over-look is that God did not promise WHEN,or HOW he would heal you!

"God's pllrpose in your life is totransform you from what you've beeninto the very imag o] His sOTI-imothe very character of God Himself. Partof this character is the learning of PA-TIENCE! And God instructs you, inJames 1:3, that the trying of your faithworks PATIENCE into your character.God has revealed to you in this andother Scriptures that He will sometimesdelay healing yOll, in order to TRY yourfaith, and to teach you to be patient!Your healing, God has promised, shallbe according to your faith. Faith istrusting God to do that which HE hasnot yet done. After the healing is com-pleted, you no longer need to exercisefaith. Faith is the ingredient you mustexercise until God heals you-until yOllcan see and feel that you are healed.After God has healed you, then youwon't need FAITH in it any longer, butyour faith must remain firm and stead-fast, and patient, regardless of what yousee or feel, until God actually heals you,as He has promised to do. Now theprosecuting attorney in this case, Satanthe devil wants you to believe that faithis something you exercise about 30 sec-onds, while you are still praying, andthen if God has nor done what Hepromised as soon as you expect, you areto find God guilty of lying. The instantyou believe the devil and his 8vidence-what you feel and what you see-andrender a verdict that God will not dowhat he promised just because He hasnot done it yet-that moment you make

God out a liar, you lose aU FAITH inGod, and you thereupon break your f!iIf'of the agreement, which is to have faithand keep on having faith, and trustingGod, and relying upon Him, UNTIL Heperforms what he promised. Faith issimple reliance upon GOD'S WORD. It isthe evidence of what you do not see orfeel. Therefore I call upon you to hlWepatience-to keep on TRUSTING GODuntil He heals you, and then HE wiliheal you! I call upon you to find Godinnocent of this charge of lying-I callupon you to find Him FAITHFUL to hispromises, and then you shall have them."

The evidence is now all in. You willnow render the VERDICT!

You must render your verdict basedupon the evidence,

Which, now, is the evidence you be.lieve? That which you see, and feel-the physical evidences that often are de-ceptive, or your faith that God's Wordis true, His promises are sure, that it isimpossible for God to lie?

If you BELIEVE this latter spirittudevidence, and reject the physical evi-dences of sight and of feeling, you pro.nounce sentence that His Word has beenVINDICATED by your verdict-you shallbe RELEASED from the disease, and whatHe promised shall be carried out.

But, if you decide that the physicalevidences of sight or feeling are to betrusted over and above the Word ofALMIGHTY GOD--and you reject HisWord and His promise, and refuse tobelieve in it-refuse, in other words,to accept and trust in the evidence ofFAITH until God completes it then youyourself must render your verdict, "NOTHEALED," And you will not be healed!

George Mueller's Definition

You see, God does not promise heal-ing, or anything else, unless we BELIEVE."According to your FAITH be it untoyou," said Jesus. And remember theFAITH must precede and therefore is acondition, to the possession.

Now let me give you Geo. Mueller'sdefinition. Geo, Mueller is dead, now,but he probably was the greatest modernapostle of FAITH. He founded five greatorphanages and other charitable insti-tutions in Bristol, England. He startedout, as FAITH always does, with a verysmall work, without any financial back-ing, and absolutely no means of sup-port, except to get down on his knees,and send up a believing prayer to God.

For nearly seventy years Geo. Muel-ler continued that great work, and itgrew into a tremendous institution untilit housed THOUSANDS. Every dime forfeeding, clothing, sheltering, and school-ing those thousands of orphans came in

Is It Wrong to Wear WeddingRings and Jewelry?

Many wives and mothers have writ-ten in this question because they haveheard the teaching that God forbidsChristians to wear any jewelry or wed-ding rings. This belief was the commonteaching of the last century, but it hasbeen retained by only a few denomina-tions. This doctrine stemmed from theprinciple that because the wearing ofjewelry, rings and other adornmentswas abused by the world, jewelry andadornments were sinful of themselvesand should never be worn.

The Bible teaches that the materialthings are not sin, but it is the improperuse of them that is wrong. It is the act0/ abuse, of misuse, that is a sin or vio-lation of God's law. There are two textsin the New Testament relating to theuse of adornments for Christians, I Tim-othy 2:9-10 and I Peter 3:3-5. Neithertext even mentions wedding rings, andneither one condemns the proper useof jewelry, as some suppose.

Peter wrote that women should notadorn themselves with plaited or broidedhair, which, among the Greeks, was acustom in which costly jewelry and alsowreaths were intertwined with the hair.The Bible prohibition of such a practicebecomes plain when one considers thata woman's hair was given her to be aglory and an honor (I Cor. 11: 15). Theaddition of costly or distracting and un-naturally bulky adornments took awayfrom the natural and intended beautyGod imparted to women. There is noscriptural prohibition against the use ofa flower or other modest adornmentworn in the hair.

The wearing of gold ornaments andpearls in connection with costly arrayis forbidden by the apostles. Gold andpearls are not sin: for God sanctified theuse of gold in the temple. But theirgreat expense was not becoming toChristian women who were to put theirtreasures into spiritual traits of char-

acrer which God views as of muchgreater worth. These two verses containno prohibition on wearing a moderateamount of relatively inexpensive, butnot "cheap" adornment. A string of in-expensive pearls would not be violatingthe principle which the apostle laysdown. For women to bedeck themselveswith cheap objects for vanity is just aswrong as to put one's treasure in ex-pensive jewelry.

The "putting on of apparel" men-tioned by Peter is explained by Paul toinclude unappropriate or lavish clothingworn for vain glory. In these verses theprinciple is always that women shouldbe temperate in the expense of theiradornments and modest in their apparel.The fact that only specific, costly or un-natural adornments are mentioned clear-ly implies that the apostles NEVER meantto forbid all jewelry. Since no word issaid about wedding rings, although wear-ing them was a universal practice of thatday, neither Paul nor Peter meant toforbid them. Christians have a perfectright to wear them. The origin of wed-ding rings does not stem from paganreligious practices, despite the fancifulcavemen stories of captured women andclub-wielding men.

As absolute proof that Christian worn-en may wear jewelry, Peter says that hisdescription aptly pictures "the holywomen also, who trusted in God,adorned themselves, being in subjectionunto their own husbands." Yet thosewomen wore jewelry! (Genesis 24:47,53.) And God blessed Israel of old withadornments (Ezekiel 16:9-14 ) .

Coupled with these are controlledrights of private ownership, the preven-tion of strikes and lockouts. "If the con-tending parties cannot come to an agree-ment, public authority intervenes." The

unions ought to be organized in theform of syndicates. These principles arecontained in the encyclical letter,"Quadragesimo Anno," by Pope Pius XI.

Now, what civil system has adheredto these same ideas? Only one. TheNazi-Fascist system!

It is with the Nazi underground andFascist dictators in Spain, Portugal andArgentina that the Vatican is secretlyplanning! The same Babylonish systemthat has gripped Europe for centuriesunder diverse names! It is medievalfeudalism, with its Church controlledEmpire that guaranteed social welfare,in a modern cloak.

Nazism and Fascism are not dead assome believe. American soldiers here inLondon, on leave from their duty inGermany, have told Dick Armstrongand me that Nazism is alive. But theVatican is very pleased to have theworld think otherwise.

Remember, for over three quarters ofa century, from the days of Garibaldi inItaly and Bismarck in Germany, thepopes have striven to gain control ofEuropean civil governments. Althoughfavorable to the Central Powers in WorldWar I, the Vatican was unable to secureGerman-Italian unity. It was not until the1930's that the Vatican could afford tosign concordats with Mussolini and Hit-ler, agreements which permitted theChurch much of the freedom she sought.

However, Hitler's doctrine of racialsupremacy was opposed to the Catholicteaching of the unity of the human race.It was usually the Catholic Germans, ac-cording to some reports, who were moretolerant toward conquered nations of likefaith. Being unable to control Hitler, theCatholic Church was one of the vitalpowers in bringing about the downfallof the Third Reich after the Nazis hadgone underground.

With the collapse of Germany andItaly in the last war, the pope has out-wardly sanctioned no political party,although unofficial support of ChristianDemocrats has come from local prelates.This has become necessary in order tostem Communism. But basically, Chris-tian Democrats and Socialists are NOTAUTHORITARIAN nor strong enough tocarry out the papal plans. The Vaticanhas anticipated their eventual inabilityto solve Europe's social and economicills. Already in Italy, where land reformhas been a major issue, two Italians whohave recently come from Rome and Mi-Ian to London have told us that themoderate party of De Gasperi, unableand unwilling to carry out its reformpromises, is witnessing the rise of neo-Fascism.

UNDERGROUND which, at this moment,is deftly plotting to regain control atthe opportune hour. Composed of highranking, but relatively unknown mili-tarists, financiers, industrialists and partyleaders, the underground, by its giganticinB.uence established through pre-warcontacts with South American business-men and politicians, is endeavoring togain Latin American support and friend-ship. These Catholic countries, plaguedwith Communist influence, are growingcold to the "North American Colossus,"-the United States-according to dip-lomatic reportS reaching Washington.

The personal influence of Nazi busi-nessmen with associates in England andthe United States has been sufficient toallow German industry to remain intactand capable of immediate war capacitywhen the hour arises. But how is theVatican conspiring with this Nazi un-derground?

The Pope's Secret Diplomacy

Few know it, but before the end ofthe war the Vatican made overtures tothe Nazi Party leaders. They permitted,according to the published report ofEberhard Stern in January, 1952, MartinBormann to enter the seclusion of amonastery as a Franciscan monk, FraterMartini. (Papal sources had denied thisreporr.) Also in Spain, Argentina andPortugal, Nazis can deal openly with theChurch, either through the establisheddictatorship or with its permission.

The ONE MAJOR REASON for collab-oration between the Nazi undergroundand the Vatican is that both need eachother. Germany can't dominate theworld until she has the support of Con-tinental Europe and the friendship ofnations abroad. The former conqueredcountries of Europe will not tolerateGerman superiority again. Then how canshe regain their confidence? By meansof the Catholic Church.

And the Church needs Germany now,just as much as in the times of the HolyRoman Empire which was actually aGerman Empire. Without her, theChurch would be unable to defend her-self and would lack a traditionally au-thoritarian State through which shecould impose her will.

Any European union must have Ger-many in it. But in granting her supportto the underground, the Church hasmade one demand. The Nazis must re-pent of their- racial superiority doctrinesand submit to the teaching of the Churchwhich is the essential unity of the humanfamily.

This might have been impossible forthe more rabid Nazis who perished inthe last war. But for the practical Nazibusinessman, who realizes that Germanymust cooperate with equal nations in

order to dominate the world, it is aneasier matter to acknowledge theChurch's teaching. By so doing, the Ger-mans would dispell the fear of theirneighbors.

Remember now, that the cause of thisdiplomacy is the Vatican's long rangeplan to create a united Europe-and In-ternational Organization dominated bythe Papacy and verbally dedicated to theENFORCEMENT of peace. This is theopen declaration of recent popes. It istheir acknowledged plan.

To secure this end, the Vatican notonly is secretly dealing with Nazism andFascism but is also encouraging Catholicleaders, Schuman in France, and Ade-nauer in Germany, to encourage theprinciple of European cooperation andunity. The Church seeks co have Euro-pean Councils still sufficiently demo-cratic in order to secure American fi-nancial and military help.

The general trend here in England,and in America and Europe for thatmatter, is that Western cooperationshould be an alliance of three separateunits: the United States, Great Britain,Continental Europe. This is exactly whatthe Vatican wants, for it will cause Eu-rope to act as a unit by herself.

It is a fact, too, that England does notregard herself as essentially European,but "British." Many to whom we havetalked express this sentiment, that Eng-land, though geographically near thecontinent, must remain separate and co-operate with the United States as far aspossible.

While here in London, we found itcommon knowledge that the free move-ment to detach Scotland from the Com-monwealth is inspired by Catholics. Allthese facts lead to the one conclusionthat the Vatican, while wanting to utilizeWestern strength to rebuild defeatedEurope, is seeking to drive a wedge be-tween Europe and the West and to un-dermine the latter.

Pope Tells Catholics to Rearm!

On February 10, 1952, the Pope in anexhortation to the Catholics at Rome de-clared: "Make sure that needs are welldefined, that objectives are clear, THATAVAILABLE FORCES ARE WELL RE-ARMED, SO THAT THE RESOURCES NOWAT OUR COMMAND ARE NOT NEGLECT-ED BECAUSE UNKNOWN, NOR HAP-HAZARDLY EMPLOYED, NOR SQUAN-DERED IN MATTERS OF SECONDARY IM-PORTANCE."
