2019, where 8 Missionary Friars are rendering their service and also taking care of

the formation (Novitiate-Philosophy-Theology) of the Friars from Pakistan Capuchin

Custody.

The Christ the King Delegation

Assembly of Mizoram -Tripura - Barak

Valley Silchar was held from 4th to 6th

July 2019, where 18 Missionary Friars

are rendering their service.

The Infant Jesus Delegation

Assembly of Nagaland – Manipur was

held from 8th to 10th July, 2019,

wherein 14 Missionary Friars are

rendering their service.

The retreat of all Guardian along

with the Provincial Delegates,

Directors, Parish Priests and Principles

was held from 19-24 August, 2019 at

Portiuncula Retreat Centre, Mysuru.

The Retreat Preacher/Animator was a

person known as Barefoot Preacher,

a well know reformist, humanitarian,

socialist, and who has authored 79

books in English and Tamil language

Fr. Jerry Rosario SJ.

As a part of the retreat brothers

were motivated by the animator to

donate blood voluntarily. 18 brothers

successfully donated their blood at St.

Joseph's Hospital Blood Bank.

GUARDIANS’ ANNUAL RETREAT CONFERENCE OF CAPUCHIN MAJOR

SUPERIORS IN INDIA AT FISI

The Conference of Capuchin Major

Superiors in India (CCMSI) gathered at

FISI in Bangalore from 27th to 29th

August, 2019. Br John Baptist, the

General Councillor, Br Paul Koenig,

Custos of General Custody of Arabia and

14 Major Superiors from all the

Capuchin Provinces of India were

present.

It had also the updates by Br Arun

Lobo on JPIC, and a session on Ratio

Formationis by Br Charles Alphonse

secretary of Formation from General

Curia and information and guidelines by

the General Postulators Br Carlo Calloni.

Diaconal Ordination

Four brothers were ordained

deacons on 3 July 2019 at Darshan

Insititute of Theology, Bengaluru by Most

Rev Dr Peter Machado, the Archbishop

of Bengaluru. Br Alwyn Dias, the

Provincial Minister, Br Waldheim

Rodrigues, Provincial Minister of Goa, Br

Benoy Joseph, Provincial Minister of

Delhi together with other Capuchin

priests and diocesan clergy.

DARSHAN INSTITUTE OF THEOLOGYNew Book by Br Anil Sequeira

The Franciscans ministering in

various places in the Archdiocese of

Bengaluru together with Most Rev. Dr

Peter Machado, the Archbishop

commemorated the 800th anniversary

of the encounter between St Francis of

Assisi and Sultan al-Malik al-Kâmil of

Egypt. To mark the event, an inter-

religious meet on Dialogue, Peace and

Harmony was organized at St Joseph’s

Boys’ High School Auditorium,

Bengaluru.

ASSISI NILAYA, MOODUBELLE

Gathering of the formees in Udupi

On July 7, in order to mark the "Year

of Youth" the Conference of Religious

in India (CRI) of the Udupi Diocese

organized 'The Formees' Gathering' - a

day for all formees who are undergoing

formation in various formation houses

in the Diocese. The Postulants had a

wonderful time participating in it.

A Special Experience with Special

People

The postulants had the opportunity

to visit the Manasa Rehabilitation and

Training Centre on August 1. The

postulants visited the various

departments of the institute and mixed

with the 'special children'. The day

ended with the cultural program both

by the brothers and the children.

INAUGURATION OF ST CLARE'S

SCHOOL HALL, AKULUTO

St Clare's school hall in Akuluto,

Nagaland was blessed and inaugurated

by Br Mathias Dias, former Provincial

Delegate on August 11. This center is

taken care by Br Isaac Baptist Rodrigues.

Due to the incessant rains, for

the first time the Dayalbagh Ashram

experienced the disruption of normal

life. The aspirants had a week long

holidays for the college, the orientation

students had to be indoors. The

approach road from Nidgal to Dayalbagh

Ashram was submerged and the

connection to Ujire was cut off for at

least 20 hours. The power supply was

cut off for two days.

Inauguration of NSS & Red Cross

The Girls' Welfare Committee of

St Anthony's PU College organized a

seminar on Health and Hygiene and

PCOS for the PU students. Dr Sunitha

Sharma, Obstetrician and Gynecologist

was the resource person. She

enlightened the students about basic

hygienic practices for girls, cleared

misconceptions and answered queries

about students' health.

The inauguration of NSS for the

year 2019-2020 was done by Br

Roshan Rosario, Director, St Anthony's

Institutions in the presence of Br Joy

D'Souza, Principal, Darshan College,

management, Faculty and Students. The

Implementation Officer, State NSS Cell,
