PRINCIPAL’S REPORT Welcome back to everyone and thank you for your support in transitioning your child/ren back to school and implementing the new routines required at the school gates each morning and afternoon.
To further support on-site learning I request that Seymour College laptops that are on loan are returned by Monday 22nd June. Emails have been sent to all families requesting laptops to be returned by this date.
A new large shade sail has been installed over the basketball court and it is waterproof and will provide outdoor cover for our students.
Reports will be mailed late next week and will be available on Compass. Phone conversations about your child’s report can be booked tomorrow via Compass.

Inclusive Education News
What an unusual Term! We are so proud of our students, families and staff for managing the challenges that were
present due to COVID 19. The remote learning created a wonderful opportunity to strengthen relationships
between home and school. Families connected through phone calls and
Webex meetings. This time provided an opportunity for students to
increase their technological skills through the use of Ipads and laptops to
complete work, access online learning sites and online meeting platforms.
Over the past few weeks teachers
have been busy creating reports
that celebrate the learning of
students during Semester one.
These reports will be different for
some students as the junior
inclusive education classes, after
consultation with families, we are
trialling a new report template
that includes photographs of
achieved skills.
I wish everyone a peaceful winter break.
Racheal Broughton - Assistant Principal Inclusive Education
Instrumental Music Program:
Expression of Interest for New Student We would like to invite new students, from years seven and beyond, to take up the challenge of learning a musical instrument at school. We are offering lessons in brass (trumpet and trombone), woodwind (flute, clarinet, and saxophone) and various percussion instruments.
The thirty minute lessons will be held on Tuesdays in the VCAL Room. So that students do not miss the same school lesson each week, times will alternate throughout the term. Those who are starting a new instrument will be learning with one or two other students, Similarly, percussion students will have combined lessons. Students have the opportunity learn from their peers as well as the teacher. Lessons are $40 for a whole term. If you require, we have some instruments available for hire at $110 per year.
Apart from the personal satisfaction of learning music, we want students to be given the opportunity to perform music as part of an ensemble so that Seymour College students can showcase their music at the school and within the wider community.
If you are interested in your child learning music, please send an email to [email protected], or come and speak to Ms Ward during the week.

Year 10 Work Experience 2020: Is it going ahead?
Work experience (and SWL – work experience that applies to VET courses) is still possible this year. The plan prior
to COVID-19 was that 2020 Year 10 students would ask Mr Webster for permission to do their work experience
once they had completed the preparation activities (including the Arrangement Form) and found a suitable
employer. Unlike previous years, we did not set specific work experience weeks. The plan now is that students who
still want to do work experience can make arrangements on the condition that the employer provides a workplace
that complies with the advice of the Chief Health Officer. There is an additional consent form that parents and
students will need to sign. Due to the pressure many workplaces are experiencing as a result of COVID-19,
Seymour College doesn’t expect Year 10 students to complete work experience this year, but will support students
who have opportunities available to them. We will also encourage 2020 Year 10 students to take up work
experience opportunities where possible in 2021 or 2022.
