    MESSA

    GE

    Volume 06 / Edition 09 / September 2015

    FROM YOUR VICAR

Do all things without murmuring and

arguing, so that you may be blameless and

innocent, children of God without blemish in

the midst of a crooked and perverse

generation, in which you think like stars in

    the world. (Philippians 2:14-15)

St. Paul reminds us that we are called to

lead a blameless and pure life without fault.

Blameless and innocent - these two words

speak of moral purity. Blameless simply

means a life that cant be criticized. There is

nothing for which we can be held

responsible by way of sin, evil, wickedness,it is a life without blame. it is a life that has

no blemish, no blot in it, no sinful stain

which people can discern and see. In the

midst of a crooked and perverse

generation, here Paul borrows a phrase

from the song of Moses in Deuteronomy

    32:5. In Deuteronomy Moses characterised

apostate Israel as a crooked and perverse

nation. The whole world in which the church

exists is the same. In Matthew 10:16 where

Jesus says Be wise as serpents and

innocent as doves. We are living in the

midst of a crooked and perverse

generation. Please note we are in the midst

of it. Jesus said in John 17 when He prayed

to the Father I am not going to ask you

take them out of the world, Im going to ask

you to keep them in the world. Proverbs

2:15 describes the society of this world in

these terms. It says, their paths are

crooked, and they are devious in their ways.

Gods word is a lamp for our feet and a light

on our path (Ps 119:105). The divine truth

that God reveals through the Holy Spirit

helps us to find the true light that illumines

us to live a righteous life in a crooked anddepraved generation. Jesus said you are

the light of the world. Let your light shine

before men, that they may see your good

works and praise your Father in

    heaven (Mat 15:14 and 16)

Single handily one person may not

overcome all the power of darkness. But

remember that the little light that is lit in you

cannot be extinguished by the darkness if it

keeps on burning and emitting light. Can we

be that light? Remember, we are lighted to

lighten! A single candle can light many more

candles, and yet never lose the glow with

    which it started burning.

    May God Bless you all

    With prayers.
