On Friday 28th February several year 10 and 11 students participated in a MyRoad Beacon Foundation interactive online Careers Mentoring session. Students spoke directly with mentors about career choices and pathways. Students were able to listen and hear about the career decisions their mentor had made to end up where they were today. Students shared their own strengths and career interests and the mentors were able to offer assistance and resources that may support students as they enter the phase of their lives where they begin to make career choices. Mentors ranged from: a self-employed consultant, Financial services expert, Mental Health advocate and University graduates.

having them complete the Morrisby Career service. All year 9 students should return a consent form to participate

in this free service and benefit from a follow-up one-one interview with a career practitioner. Students will be

introduced to the service and complete the testing towards the end of this term.

Students in Trade Pathways program (TPP) will complete their testing Monday 16th March during periods 3

and 4 in the library.

Students in 9S will complete their testing Thursday 19th March during periods 1 and 2 in the library.

Students in THINK will complete the testing Thursday 19th March during periods 3 & 4 in their THINK

Students are reminded to please bring their charged laptops to the testing in order to complete it successfully.

Consent forms are available from the front office or on the Year 9 Compass Newsfeed.

STUDENT LAPTOPS REMINDER

Congratulations to Year 11 Student Zara Pettifer, who received the George Collins Award to walk the Kokoda Track in the June/July School Holidays. Zara was required to go through a rigorous process by writing an essay on the Kokoda Track and then sitting through an interview with 3 panel members. George Collins served in Papua New Guinea during the Second World War, and wanted local students to learn about the Kokoda Track, and the locals that supported the Australian soldiers. We look forward to Zara presenting to the school and the community on her experience. Zara is pictured receiving her Kokoda Track Pack from Annette Collins, daughter of the late George Collins, and Brian, a long-time sponsor of the award.

On Wednesday 26th February, both Unit 1 Biology classes travelled to Healesville Sanctuary. Whilst there, they had the opportunity to study animal adaptations. Even through the showers, the students were quiet prepared to listen to the educators and take many notes. Highlights were watching the bird show, up close with the emus and the attack of the helmeted honey eater!!
