  • Mattress brand Tempur Korea and CGV opened Tempur cinemas at the CGV Cine de Chef loca-tions in Apgujeong in Seoul and Centum City in Busan in 2015. The beds are electric recliners equipped with Tempur mattresses. Using a remote control, movie-goers can change the recliner into abed. Slippers and blankets are provided, and people can also enjoy food while watching a movie. Tempur was originally based on NASA's research to develop a material that would cushion aircraft seats and improve survivability in the event of an accident. The company explains that their products distribute pressure created by body-weight, making the user as comfortable as possi-ble. According to the customers, although 40000won is quite expensive for watching a movie, they said it worth the price.

  • Naeng means cold and Myeon means noodles! So it literally translates to cold noodles.

This is perhaps one of the most beloved summer foods in Korea. Naengmyeon noodles are of made of buck-wheat, potato, and sweet potato flours and originate from North Korea. There are two main types: Mool-naengmyeon and bibim naengmyeon. Moolnaengmy-eon consists of noodles served in an icy broth and it originates from Pyeongyang. Bibimnaengmyeon is served with red chili paste without broth, and this one originates from Hamhung, in the North. And dishes are usually garnished with sliced beef, a boiled egg, cucum-

    bers, and pears.

    Samgyetang

    Naengmyeon

PahtbingsuPaht means red bean and bingsu itself means shaved ice. Traditionally, this dessert was originally served with red bean paste over ice. But nowadays, many varieties of pahtbingsu exist in contemporary culture. Many bingsu recipes do not necessarily follow tradition, and depending on what kind of toppings you use, you can make a different type of bingsu. You can easily find cafes which sell bingsu in the summer.

Korean summer foodsto cool you down!

In the summer, Koreans usually say fight the heat with heat when they go to eat Samgyetang. That is one way to survive the hot summer. Sam refers to ginseng, gye to chicken, and tang means soup. Therefore, Samgyetang is ginseng chicken soup, consisting primarily of a whole young chicken stuffed with garlic, rice, dates and ginseng.
