Of the 50 clubs in Rotary International District 6940, the Rotary Club of Mayo was chosen to receive an award for Best Food as determined by the District Governor Sylvia White. After Ceraso pre- sented the award to Leenette McMillan, president of the Ro- tary Club of Mayo, it was time for another award to be an- nounced. Macklin, a senior point guard at Lafayette, was named one of 40 players nationally to the 35th Annual Parade Magazine All-American High School Girls Basketball team. She joins Amber Henson (Tampa Sickles) and Kaneisha Wheeler (Westwood) as the only athletes from Florida named to the team. The award is given to those who advance agricultural educa- tion and FFA through outstand- ing personal commitment. Lyons is a former vocational education teacher and FFA Advi- sor. He has judged many state and national events and is a strong supporter of the local FFA chapter. Lyons, his wife Louisa, son Chad, and daughter Tori are all past recipients of the Ameri- can FFA Degree. Chad and Tori are past Florida State FFA offi- cers. Grosskopf is a member of the Rotary Club of Madison. I am celebrat- ing two parts of our school district, and nothing that is specific to curriculum, budget or law. The first thing I would like to celebrate is a person. Her name is Cartaeshia Macklin, and she was named a member of the Parade All-American Girls High School Basketball team this week, and was listed in Parade magazine this weekend. She is our second Pa- rade All-American (after Reggie McGrew), among other All-Americans of other designa- tions we have had.
