1. SummaryMinor surface corrosion was found on gearing. Surface corrosion was present on vibration probe burnished area on gearing. Lube oil passages in housing appeared to be fairly clean. Spray bars internal surfaces are clean. Possible defect visible on output gear blind end bearing.

2. Work performed (by service engineer):

Visual inspection through inspection covers. Borescope inspection of internal oil passages and sides of sleeve bearings.

3. Inspection & Findings - Defective PartsMinor corrosion was present on gearing. Possible defect visible on output gear blind end bearing.

4. Corrective MeasuresNo action taken at this time.

5. Recommendations (SEE Detailed Recommendation Chart in Attachments)This gear box was found in relatively fair condition, for reportedly being in storage for an extended time frame. A complete tear down inspection to fully inspect sleeve bearings, rotating elements, housing, seals, accessories and instrumentation is recommended. A full assement of rotating elements can be made at this time. Probe areas must be reclaimed/restored and inspected for electrical/mechanical runout. All surfaces can be fully cleaned, clearances assessed, and full preservation renewed.
