Virgin Oil International (Pvt) Ltd. is an export-oriented company that concentrates on production and processing of pure Ceylon virgin coconut oil under the brand name ‘Voila’, which meets high international standards. The Company has dedicated its systems and processes to deliver world-class food products to some of the world’s largest food and cosmetics manufacturers.

The Company’s main production facility is located in Bulugahawatta, Diwulapitiya – a village situated within a region known as the ‘Coconut Triangle’ of Sri Lanka. This strategic location has not only provided access to a steady supply of coconuts for continuous production, but more importantly to a cartel of coconut based service providers who possess intrinsic knowledge and experience in the production system.

Built according to international food processing standards, the fully-fledged production facility of the Company consists of state-of-the-art equipment to ensure a high quality output at every stage of the production process. All key processes, viz washing, weighing, shredding, drying, expelling of oil, sedimentation, filling and storage are carried out as per strict quality standards and guidelines by experienced personnel who possess a thorough knowledge in their specific areas.

Apart from production of the principal product, ‘Voila’ virgin coconut oil, the company also produces coconut flour and creamed coconut under the same stringent standards of quality and hygiene.

Production of ‘Voila’ virgin coconut oil begins with the purchase of coconuts with husks. This is in order to preserve purity and to control the high standard of the end product. The de-husking, de-shelling and pairing are carried out by experienced workmen as per laid down specifications. The white kernel is collected in to a stainless steel tank containing fresh water and rinsed thoroughly. The white kernel is thereafter weighed, and inserted into a shredding machine, which reduces it into smaller particles.

This fragmented coconut is then spread on stainless steel trays and transferred in to a special Hot Air Oven that dries the coconut at a low temperature. This process of drying takes about three hours for a quantity of approximately 200 kilograms. The dried, fragmented coconut is thereafter fed into a cold pressing oil expeller to extract the oil.

The raw coconut oil is again collected into a stainless steel tank in four-day rotations. The raw oil is retained in the sedimentation tank for approximately four days for better deposition of particles, after which it is channelled through a filter press to eliminate any particles. This clean pure oil is produced at a very low temperature, which is known as ‘virgin coconut oil’.

The ‘Voila’ virgin coconut oil so produced is stored in a stainless steel storage tank to be filled in to different packaging as per the requirements of the customer, may it be bulk or retail packs.

Recognising the importance of delivering the highest standards of quality, the Company strives to ensure best practices within all key processing units, thereby ensuring the production of pure Ceylon Voila virgin coconut oil that rises above its competition.

Produced under hygienic conditions as per strict quality guidelines using HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point), the Viola virgin coconut oil manufactured by Virgin Oil International is fresh, natural and free of contamination; capturing the true scent, taste and nutrition that coconut oil has to offer.

Natural aroma of coconut flour

Organic Coconut flour is produced from the meat of organic coconuts after it has been pressed to produce virgin coconut oil. The processing steps are: cracking the coconut, removing the husk and shell, grating the meat, drying the meat, pressing out the oil, pulverizing, inspection and packaging.
