VOICES OF THE FIRST DAY

Page 2: Voices of the first day

Tells of how the sun was

created through a fight between

two creatures; one creature stole

the egg of the other and tossed it

into the sky breaking it and spilling

the yolk and bursting into flames.

No one group owns a complete

mythical story, each owns only

parts of the whole

story, connecting them through

the great distances.

DREAMING AND CREATION

Page 3: Voices of the first day

The in labor mother squats and

backs against a tree giving her spine

alignment; a birth-giving empowerment

from the earth.

The Grandma digs a depression in

the sand between her legs to have the

earth receive the baby; if the baby is

born sick, weak, premature or horribly

deformed the Grandma may bury the

baby where it lays.

Rubs the baby with sand and ash

for spiritual symbolism.

COMING INTO BEING

Page 4: Voices of the first day

Male initiations are much more

elaborate and involved than female.

Begins with a process of

circumcision and extends over a period

of several months involving many

people, extensive planning and

organization.

The process begins with the first

sign of sexual maturity; facial/pubic

hair or genitals.

MALE INITIATION

Page 5: Voices of the first day

There are three levels of sexual

experience; the social face of love, personal

face of love, ritual face of love.

Social includes marriage and the

activities involved.

Personal includes extramarital

relationships for individual needs rather than

the tribe as a whole.

Ritual includes the unleashing of the

wild, primal erotic forces of the

Dreamtime, this establishes a connection

with the powers of the ancestral beings and

with nature.
