Hold My Mule!

The old man could not carry a tune in a syrup bucket, but he loved to sing, even if it was off-key! Besides, he was bad about "amening" the preacher. Services had degenerated into an "undignified" assembly because of the old man. He simply got too involved in the "goings on" and forgot himself. Four of the more well-to-do mem-bers decided that this old fellow was just too crude for the congregation. They appointed themselves as the ones to go and talk to the old man. "Brother Jones," they began, "we want to talk to you about your singing. Not meaning any offense, but you just cannot sing. Your OK….I’m OK??

John the Baptist's message from the wilderness was not, "Smile, God loves you." It was "O generation of vipers, who hath warned you to flee from the wrath to come." Jeremiah was not put into a miry pit for preaching, "I'm OK, you're OK." It was for crying against the adultery, idolatry and other wickedness of his nation. Noah's message from the steps of the ark was not, "Something good is going to happen to you." He condemned the world and was a preacher of right-eousness. Jesus Christ was not crucified for saying, "Consider the lilies, how they grow," but for saying, "Woe unto you scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites, chil-dren of hell, fools and blind guides, whited sepulchers, generation of vipers." Cousin Leroy

The couple were 85 years old, and had been married for sixty years. Though they were far from rich, they managed to get by because they watched their pennies. Though not young, they were both in very good health, largely due to the wife's insistence on healthy foods and exercise for the last decade. One day, their good health didn't help when they went on a rare vacation and their plane crashed, sending them off to Heaven. They reached the pearly gates, and St.. Peter escorted them inside. He took them to a beautiful mansion, furnished in gold and fine silks, with a fully stocked kitchen and a waterfall in the master bath. A maid could be seen hanging their favorite clothes in the closet. They gasped in astonishment when he said, "Welcome to Heaven. This will be your home now." The old man asked Peter how much all this was going to cost. "Why, nothing," Peter replied, "remember, this is your reward in Heaven." The old man looked out the win dow and right there he saw a championship golf course, finer and more beautiful

than any ever-built on Earth. "What are the greens fees?", grumbled the old man. “This is heaven," St. Peter replied. "You can play for free, every day." Next they went to the clubhouse and saw the lavish buffet lunch, with every imag-inable cuisine laid out before them, from seafood to steaks to exotic deserts, free flowing beverages. “Don't even ask," said St. Peter to the man. "This is Heaven, it is all free for you to enjoy." The old man looked around and

glanced nervously at his wife. "Well, where are the low fat and low cholesterol foods, and the decaffeinated tea?" he asked. "That's the best part," St. Peter replied. "You can eat and drink as much as you like of whatever you like, and you will never get fat or sick. This is Heaven!" The old man pushed, "No gym to work out at?" "Not unless you want to," was the answer. "No testing my sugar or blood pressure or..." "Never again. All you do here is enjoy yourself." The old man glared at his wife and said, "You and your bran muffins. We could have been here ten years ago!

The pastor shocked the congregation when he announced that he was resigning from the church and moving to a drier climate. After the service a very dis-traught Leroy came to the pastor with tears in his eyes, "Oh, Pastor Bob, we are gonna miss you so much. We don't want you to leave!" The kindhearted pastor said "Now, now, Brother Leroy, don't carry on like that. The pastor who takes my place might be even better than me". "Yeah Right", Leroy said "That's what they said

the LAST time too!!!"

Bubba Needs Prayer

Bubba goes to the Revival and listens to the Preacher. After a while, the Preacher asks anyone with needs To come forward and be prayed over. Bubba gets in line. When it's his turn, the preacher says, "Bubba, what you want me to pray about? " Bubba says, "Preacher, I need you to pray for my Hearing. " So the Preacher puts one finger in Bubba's ear, and the other hand on top of his head, and prays a while. After a few minutes, he removes his hands and says, "Bubba, how's your hearing now? " Bubba says, "I don't know Preacher, it's not until next Wednesday in

Henry County Superior Court. " submitted by Ken & Janice Widener of Augusta, GA

The Preachers New Teeth

This minister just had all of his remaining teeth pulled and new dentures were being made. The first Sunday, he only preached 10 minutes. The second Sunday, he preached only 20 minutes. But, on the third Sunday, he preached 1 hour 25 minutes. When asked about this by some of the congregation, he responded this way. The first Sunday, my gums were so sore it hurt to talk. The second Sunday, my dentures were hurting a lot. The third Sunday, I accidentally grabbed my wife' dentures... and I couldn't stop talking!

Word of the LORD, received on July 24, 07

Thus saith the Lord. The sound of Pentecost has come to this region. The Wind of the Holy Ghost has begun to blow here. It is but a gentle breeze at this time, but My people recognize the aroma of their Lord in it and have begun al-ready to rejoice. This sound of the Holy Ghost will build and build until it becomes the sound of a mighty gale, as My people pray continually for their loved ones and their enemies. To the world this sound will be an awful sound. It will be as the sound of destruction, but to My people who are called by My Name, it will be the sound of abundance. It will be a sound of provision. It will be a sound laden with help, healing and salvation. It will hold in it's mightiness, My promise of the coming rain of blessing. Yes, I have promised, will I not perform it? When your children and those you have fervently prayed for hear this mighty, awful sound, they will move toward Me. They will come craving the pro-tection of My Word and the awesomeness of My grace, and they will receive those things liberally from My Hand. My people, I am visiting your region, even now, with My promised blessing. Stay close to Me and I will prepare you for this time. Stay in prayer and rejoice for I have remembered you to do you good and not evil. Thus saith your LORD, the Great I AM, the Holy One of Israel.

"The lion hath roared, who will not fear? The Lord hath spoken, who can but prophesy?" (Amos 3:8)

"Jezebel" by Teddi Neevel

And it came to pass, as if it had been a light thing for him (King Ahab of Israel) to walk in the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, that he took to wife Jezebel the daughter of Ethbaal king of the Zidonians, and went and served Baal, and worshipped him.

(1 Kings 16:31)

Jezebel was a queen who lived with her husband King Ahab in an ivory house. (1 Kings 22:39) A house that I’m sure we would call a palace. They had eunuchs to serve them and guards to protect them. They had a whole kingdom of people to respect them. They had sons to carry on their family name and to continue carrying the royal line. So what in the world could possibly be Jezebel’s problem? She was a selfish and greedy individual who was more than will-ing to lie, cheat, steal and kill to get her own way. Surely, none of us have that problem…so why should we study Jezebel? Jezebel is a warning to us today for many reasons…all of them are found in her bad examples. Jezebel chose to worship Baal. While we don’t worship idols in a church or while attending religious retreats Satan is very good at putting idols in our way. Anything or anyone that we allow to come before the Lord in our lives and hearts is in fact an idol to us. The extremes of the things we may place as gods was shown in the news this week. The woman out west whose personal god is alcohol allowed two of her three children to starve to death while she lay in a drunken stupor, her bed littered with empty beer cans. Oh, I know our culture is willing to justify her conduct by call-ing her drunkenness a sickness or addiction, but sometime in the past she chose to begin drinking and did not choose to stop before it became an addiction. Jezebel actively worshipped idols and practiced witchcraft/sorcery. It would be nice to know that no one we know is involved with witchcraft and sorcery but sadly that is not the case. 50 years ago or more our society began to make witchcraft and the occult a joke. Do you remember the "Topper" series of movies about the friendly ghost that helped solve crimes? What about "Bewitched" that made witchcraft appear to be fun and useful? "I Dream of Genie" came with a bit of glamour, naivete, and laughable spells and goofs. Then we added the cartoon characters like "Casper the Friendly Ghost" and "Scooby-doo" that is often chasing a ghost of some sort. Books have followed by the hundreds that are often written for children but make witchcraft seem fun and harmless. The current children’s books of the "Harry Potter" series are again holding wizardry up as a gift to be prized. There is a new cartoon series that will begin n January on the Disney channel that is about young witches learning to control their powers. There are many other television programs both current and in re-runs that glamorize witchcraft. We could sit back and say it is just make believe but all of these things are still against the teaching of the Bible. When we add to these horoscopes, magic 8 ball, taro cards, we should be able to see the danger to Christian beliefs. I have a granddaughter that attended a spring solstice celebration with her school class to celebrate "mother earth". Since the activity was listed as a field trip into the forest her parents had no idea until after the fact that she would be singing, dancing and chanting to "mother earth"…. It is time that we as Christians WAKE UP and separate ourselves from these things or suffer the same fate as Jezebel did!

MATTHEW 4:20 And they straightway left their nets, and followed him.

They immediately left their nets. How of-ten do we immediately do what God is asking of us? How often do we say Do you really mean that, God, or Do I have to do it now? We need to get into the habit of saying, Yes Lord, and immediately doing what he wishes. Just think what this world could be if every Christian, IMMEDIATELY, responded to the Lord's commands. Just think about the number of people who would be reached and brought into the Kingdom. I remember a lady telling about how one night the Lord told her to go to a certain house RIGHT THEN, she called a couple of ladies from church to go with her. When they got there she told one of the la-dies to go up and knock on the door, the lady replied, the Lord told you to come here, you knock, so she did, and the man that lived in the house had tied up his wife and kids and was about to shoot them, and then him-self, but because this lady went when the Lord told her, he intervened, now had she not went, these peoples blood could very well been on her hands. It's so important to be obedient to the Lord. Resolve that from this day forward you will respond to God's Words to you. Resolve that you will listen for and hear his voice clearly. That you will learn to recognize his voice, so you too can respond IMMEDIATELY.

“The Old Country Church

"Whoso findeth a wife findeth a good thing, and obtaineth favour of the LORD.“ Proverbs 18:22

On July the 25th my wife and I celebrated our 21st wedding anniversary. As I look back over the 21 years that the LORD has given us I can say that I fully understand the above passage of scripture. In the garden when God decided that it was not good for man to be alone he created woman in such a way to show us what the union of marriage should really be. He could have created her from the dust just as he had man or even just spoken her into existence. But rather than do that the Bible says that he caused a deep sleep to fall upon the man and he took a rib out of the man and created his help meet. The union between husband and wife is unlike any other union, the wife is part of the husband and the husband part of the wife. The Bible even says that these two are become one! Even when talking about Christ and the church God uses the example of marriage (husband and wife) to explain his will. The wife was never intended to be any less than the husbands helper, to stand beside him (another reason for the LORD taking the rib from the mans side). I said all of that to say this, in the years that I have been married to my beautiful wife I have come to know that I truly found something wonderful and good when I found her, that without her I would not be who or what I am today because I would not be complete. She is part of me. she is my helper, she is my strength. she is a gift that God has given me. And I want to take this opportunity to thank God for her and to tell her that I love her with all my heart.

“YOU DON’T HAVE A PROBLEM, YOU HAVE A SOLUTION”

Evangelist, Donnie Swaggart

“Fear thou not; for I am with you: be not dismayed; for I am your God: I will strengthen you; yea, I will help you; yea, I will uphold you with the right hand of My righteousness.” Isaiah 41:10

This Word as given by the Holy Spirit through the Prophet Isaiah in its literal meaning, refers to Israel and God’s

faithfulness to a people that have forsaken Him. Yet, due to the fact that the Church is now looked at by the Lord as

Spiritual Israel, this beautiful Promise is just as real for us today as it will be for Israel in the future. DISCOURAGE-

MENT There is not a single Believer that does not face discouragement from time to time, due to circumstances that

come our way that on the surface are very trying and vexing to our spirit, and problems that seemingly are insur-

mountable and perplexing in the natural realm. However, take heart, for the Lord has promised us that He would

never leave us or forsake us. “FEAR NOT” It is very easy at times for us to find ourselves gripped by fear when

faced with the magnitude of the circumstances we face. Satan is a master at presenting everything around us from the

position of despair and hopelessness. We are confronted on every hand by Satan’s craftiness and we see no way out

and we imagine the worst, causing fear to set in. Fear is the opposite of Faith. Fear sees the Goliaths of life. Fear feels

the flames of a fiery furnace. Fear hears the roar of the lion. Fear is actually us doubting the Power of the Lord. Yet

there are times in those Verses the Lord tells us to “fear not.” Why? Because the Lord has everything under control.

Yes, we may find ourselves weeping in the night, but we have the assurance from the Lord that joy comes in the

morning. The Lord is telling us don’t look at the impossibilities of your situation, but look to the Greatness and

Power of our God. If the Lord of Glory and Saviour of our soul can bring Light and Life to a darkened and dead

Planet, don’t you think He can handle our problems? Fear is doubt and faithlessness. Fear says it’s impossible. Faith

says “With God all things are possible” (Mat. 19:26). “FOR I AM WITH YOU” Notice the progression of the Prom-

ise of the Lord. He says “fear not” because He is with us, no matter where the road of life may lead us. David ad-

dressed this in the 23rd Psalm: “Yea though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for

thou art with me” (Ps. 23:4). What a Promise! The Lord of Glory, the Giver of Eternal Life is with us in every cir-

cumstance of life. You are not by yourself, you don’t have to face life’s adversities in your strength and self, but you

have the Lord with you and on your side. “BE NOT DISMAYED” Dismayed means, “to be unnerved, perplexed, at a

loss as to how to deal with something.” Satan tries to perplex us and to confuse us, but the Lord says to “trust Me.”

We may not know or understand what to do, but the Lord knows exactly what to do. Once again, Faith is the founda-

tion we must stand on. “I WILL STRENGTHEN YOU” The Lord’s strength is our strength. The Lord is telling us,

“leave everything to Me, you may be weak, but I am strong.” The Lord’s Power and Strength is sufficient for all of

us. His Strength brings rest and peace to our soul. “I WILL HELP YOU” The Lord desires for us to truly understand

that He is our help, not man. We must know that the Lord is going to help us in every situation, no matter how diffi-

cult the problem may be. These are not just glib words or hype. The King of kings and Lord of lords is our “help” in

every situation of life. Nothing is too small or too great that He will not come to the help of His Children. “I WILL

UPHOLD YOU” This is the position He is trying to bring all of us to. The place where we are leaning on Him. His

Power and Might are upholding the weakest and most fragile of His Flock. Just as the shepherd of old would carry on

his shoulder the weakest and most feeble of the flock, so too will our Heavenly Shepherd, Jesus Christ, carry us and

uphold us, when all our strength is gone. David summed it up in Psalms 37:23-24: “The steps of a good man are or-

dered by the LORD: and he delights in his way. Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down: for the LORD up-

holds him with His Hand.” The One who upholds the world in His Hand is the same One who upholds us if we will

just let Him. So today, rejoice in knowing that “you don’t have a problem, you have a solution,” and a Promise of

victory. website www.jsm.org email: [email protected]

Dirty Laundry

There once was an older lady whose kitchen window was directly across from the neighbors clothes line. So many times she would stand in her kitchen while doing her dishes and glare out the window in disgust thinking to herself "Those people have the dirtiest laundry I have ever seen. They wash their cloths, hang them out on the line and they look like they have never been washed." She even went so far to tell her friends and family and those around town just how dirty her neighbors "washed" laun-dry was. Then one day she cleaned her kitchen window and found that it was not her neighbors laundry that was dirty after all!

What Do You Have?

Peter and John went up to the temple to pray. The lame man lay at the gate called Beautiful begging for alms. As you know, Peter said, "Silver and gold have I none, but such as I have give I thee: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth rise up and walk." The lame man didn't need alms (money), he needed healing. The question is, whether you are a minister or not, "WHAT DO YOU HAVE?" If it's false doctrine, it brings decep-tion. If the only message is prosperity, it becomes covetousness. I've heard of those who claimed other people's property for what they wanted. Our children ask, "WHAT DO YOU HAVE?" Like Pe-ter, can we say, "Such as I have give I thee?" We've come to the time when much of the church is not giving what is needed and that is, the Pure Gospel. The drug addict and the alcoholic do not need more money for drugs or alcohol. This lost and dying world needs an answer. "WHAT DO YOU HAVE?" Can we say, "Silver and gold have I none; but such as I have give I thee?" When the Holy Ghost truly comes to the church again, He will tell us all what we need. He will not come where they believe "we are rich and are in need of nothing." When the Holy Ghost comes, He will not give them what they want, He will give them what they need. We need only Jesus and the indwelling of the blessed Holy Ghost. Acts 1:8 says, "But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me." My prayer is, "Lord Jesus, do a fresh work in my life."

Until next time, the Lord bless you, His Handmaiden, Sister Betty Jean Robinson

SALVATION CORNER

We have set aside this corner of THE TRUMPET to show God’s Plan of Salvation. If you are unsure where you will go when you die, please listen to what God has said in His Word:

FIRST . . . GOD LOVES YOU!

“For God so loved the world that he gave His only Begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have Ev-erlasting Life” Jn. 3:16

SECOND . . . MAN IS A SINNER, AND SIN HAS SEPARATED HIM FROM GOD!

“For there is not a just man upon Earth, that doeth good and sin-neth not” Eccl. 7:20.

“For all have sinned and come short of the Glory of God” Rom. 3:23.

THIRD . . . JESUS CHRIST IS THE ONLY REMEDY FOR SIN!

“For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the un-just, that He might bring us to God . . .” I Pet. 3:18.

“Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under Heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved” Acts 4:12

FOURTH . . . YOU MUST RECEIVE JESUS CHRIST AS YOUR PERSONAL LORD AND SAVIOUR.

Jesus calls this experience the “new birth.” He told Nicodemus: “. . . Except a man be born again, he cannot see the Kingdom of God” Jn. 3:3.

We invite you now to receive the Lord Jesus Christ as your per-sonal Saviour. “But as many as received Him, to them gave He power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on His Name” Jn. 1:12.

Pray this prayer and mean it with all of your heart:

Dear Lord Jesus, I now realize that I am a sinner. I accept the fact that You died for me on the rugged Cross of Calvary. I now open my heart’s door and receive You as Saviour and Lord of my life. Please take Full control of me and help me to be the kind of Christian You want me to be. Amen.

If you prayed this prayer in all sincerity, you are now a Child of God. So that we might rejoice with you, we invite you to fill in the information below and mail it to the address on the back of this newsletter.

TODAY I ACCEPTED JESUS AS MY LORD AND SAVIOUR.
