Quote 6: "If a person doesn't think that there is a God to be accountable to, then what's the point of trying to modify your behavior to keep it within acceptable ranges? That's how I thought anyway. I always believed in the theory of evolution as truth, that we all just came from the slime. When we died, you know, that was it, there is nothing, and I've since come to believe that the Lord Jesus Christ is truly God, and I believe that I, as well as everyone else, will be accountable to Him." Your Quote 6 Answer Here: _______

Quote 7: “Thus without the Scripture, which has Jesus Christ alone for its object, we know nothing, and see only darkness and confusion in the nature of God, and in our own nature. Your Quote 7 Answer Here: _______ (Check your answers on page 4.)

A BIBLE BRAIN TEASER There are 16 books of the Bible mentioned in the paragraph below See how many you can find. Good Luck!

“I once made a remark about the hidden books of the Bible. It was a lulu; kept people looking so hard for facts and, for others, it was a revelation. Some were in a jam, especially since the names of the books were not capitalized. But the truth finally struck home to numbers of our readers. To others it was a real job. We want it to be a most fascinating few moments for you. Yes, there will be some really easy ones to spot. Others may require judges to help find them. I will quickly admit it usually takes a minister to find one of them, and there will be loud lamentations when it is found. A little lady says she brews a cup of tea so she can concentrate better. See how well you can compete. Relax now, for there really are sixteen names of books of the Bible in this paragraph.”

(For the answer sheet, stop by the office and ask Michelle.)

CAMP LUTHER NEWS – MAY 2014

For more information on any of these camps, visit www.campluther.com.

WORKBEE WEEKEND (May 16-18) - Volunteers have always played

a major role in keeping Camp Luther clean, beautiful, and in good

condition. We continue to be blessed by hundreds of individuals who

participate in Workbee Weekends. Individuals and families can help get

Camp ready for the summer by working on various projects; there is

something for everyone. The weekend is FREE, including all meals.

WHAT IS "EVERY KID TO CAMP?" – EK2C is a ministry that sends

kids to a week of summer camp at no expense to their parents. Kids

in grades 3-8, who have never attended a summer camp at Camp Luther, qualify. The

ministry goal is that every child in our district, and beyond, attends summer camp before

the ninth grade. Please give so more children can experience Christ through Camp.

STARTER CAMP? - Is your child interested but not ready to attend a whole week?

"Discovery Camp" is excellent for your 3rd-5th grader. It’s all the fun of camp packed into

four days! Campers also get to experience housing in one of our awesome villages.

MEMORIAL DAY FAMILY RETREAT (May 23-26) - Start a new Memorial day tradition. Join

the staff-lead favorite summer activities or do your own thing in this flexible schedule. A

guest pastor leads Adult Bible Study while staff teaches the kids in age appropriate groups.

"HAPPY CAMPER 5K" Saturday, May 24 - This is a 5K Trail Run, 1 Mile Walk, & Kids Fun

Run. All proceeds after event costs will benefit the Camp Luther Campership Fund, established

to provide financial aid so that every child can have the opportunity to experience camp.

2014 CAMP LUTHER GOLF CHALLENGE (June 6) - Gather your team for the 2014 Camp

Luther Golf Challenge at Rhinelander's Northwood Golf Club; proceeds will pay down our

Retreat Center mortgage. We’ll have great prizes, food, and fellowship. See you there!

"GUITAR CAMP" (July 13-18) – NEW! An experience geared for the guitar enthusiast. Each

day campers spend 3-4 hours in instruction, practice, and group jamming. A special performance

will be planned for the entire camp at the Thursday night variety show. Guitar camp participants

will participate in the Trailblazer program during the remainder of each day. Grades 5-8.

"U.P. KAYAK AND HIKE CAMP" (June 15-18) – NEW! For grades 3-6 and their parents.

Campers will travel via bus to Watersmeet, MI for a 4-5 hour Kayak on the Ontonagon River

then travel to the Porcupine Mountain State Park for camping. The group will hike a beautiful

path along the Presque Isle River concluding on the shores of Lake Superior.

STAY CONNECTED – Keep up to date on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Vimeo & Linked In.

WHAT IS KEWEENAW BASE CAMP? – KBC is located six miles west of Houghton, MI. It is

our newest effort to provide exciting opportunities for youth and young adults to grow in

faith, service, leadership and outreach. Participants grow through intentional group

activities, adventures, and service in the local community. Eleven youth groups will visit

KBC this summer and other youth will come to “The Edge” camp for individuals. Email our

Base Camp Director Blaine Welch at [email protected].

Camp Luther is a subsidiary ministry of the North Wisconsin District-LCMS. Our mission is to

build up believers in Christ for service to the church and witness to the world.

Softball season is almost here In spite of what message you are receiving from the weather, it’s almost

Christian Softball League time again! OSLC is planning to field two

teams this summer. Games begin on May 18th and take place on

Sundays at 4:15pm, 5:30pm or 6:45pm through the first week of

August at the Ashwaubenon Sports Complex. If you have played

before, or are interested in joining this year, please contact Steve Rusch by

phone (406-9077 or 676-2591), email ([email protected]), in person at

church, or sign up in the office hallway. This league is a great way to have fun

and fellowship with our own members as well as other Christian churches in

the area. I look forward to hearing from you and having another great season.

Can You Say That Again, Please? Folks who use a hearing aid often cannot

hear the sounds that come through a

public address [PA] system. For some of

our congregational members with hearing

aids, that means they cannot hear or

understand the pastors when they lead

worship because their voices are

amplified through speakers. Our

congregation has received seed money to

purchase a ‘hearing loop’, which would be

a solution to that problem, and further

gifts are being invited. You will continue

to read more about this gift invitation in

the coming months. What is a hearing

loop and how does it work? - A hearing

loop is a wire connected to an electronic

sound source that transmits that sound to

the telecoil in a hearing aid or cochlear

implant. A loop can discreetly surround a

room, a chair in your home, or even be

worn around the neck. Hearing loops can

be connected to a PA system, a living

room TV, a telephone (land line or cell),

or any source that produces sound

electronically. A hearing aid and most

cochlear implants equipped with a

manually controlled T-Switch is all that is

required to hear in a hearing loop. The

telecoil or T-coil receives the signal from

the loop and turns it back into sound in

the hearing aid, eliminating background

noise. The listener simply switches their

T-coil on and the sound is heard directly

into their hearing device, clear as a bell,

with no background noise or interference.

If the listener prefers to hear surrounding

sounds, they only need to switch their

hearing device to M/T. It’s that simple!
