PATRICK O’NEILPATRICK O’NEIL • • Thank You for 39+ yearsThank You for 39+ years“You’ve come a long way, baby” was a popular slogan around the me Patrick O’Neil joined WRT and it has proved to be quite fi ng. O’Neil was working at the service sta on in downtown Beulah, when a customer [fellow WRT re ree Dennis Kirchmeier] told him about an opening at the local co-op. O’Neil had a knack for fi xing things and luckily most aspects of the job were mechanical or electrical, as “my phone experience was knowing how to dial one”, O’Neil joked. This long- me volunteer fi reman was thrown into the fi re, so to speak, as his fi rst day on the job was a cutover to single party service in Mercer, fol-lowed by major copper splicing projects in Turtle Lake and Stanton. From there, O’Neil’s experience just kept growing, along with the industry. He saw many new technologies emerge at WRT including touchtone service, cellular, internet, and fi xed wireless. During this me, Pat and wife, Peggy, have also watched their family grow, as their three children have all graduated from Beulah High School and le the nest. The O’Neils will be celebra ng another major milestone this summer as their only daughter, Shannon, will be ge ng married. Maybe the new bride will receive a Harley Davidson escort, as O’Neil hopes to enjoy more me riding his motorcycle and maybe even fi shing this summer. O’Neil added with a grin, “I can’t wait to move the alarm clockover to Peg’s side of the bed”, as he enjoys his re rement me.

DAVE FISHERDAVE FISHER • • Thank you for 37+ yearsThank you for 37+ years Over 800,000 miles and over 37 years ago, WRT hired young

Minnesota-na ve David Fisher to work in the McLaughlin, SD area. A few years later, he traveled up to Center, ND and has been a fi xture in the community ever

since. Fisher and wife, Eileen, have called Center “home” since 1978 and locals would o en see Dave walking to work. If they didn’t know him as the local “phone man”, they probably knew Fisher as the hunter educa on teacher. Fisher was recently honored by the ND Hunter Educa on program for over 25 years of service. “They asked me to help out a li le and I stayed,” Fisher said. That helpful work ethic was appreciated at WRT, as he even drove to St. Anthony on his last day of work to take care of a customer problem. Fisher was based out of Cen-ter and put on many miles (over 800,000 accident-free miles) helping cover neighboring communi es. Fisher joked, “Being by myself is probably what I liked most and least of my job”. Fisher added now that they are both re red, they look forward to “traveling and chas-ing their two kids, three grandkids and two grand-dogs.” He also plans to get in a bit more hun ng and archery.

Over 76 years of experience recently hung up their WRT hats in pursuit of new adventures. WRT Combina on Tech and long- me Beulah Area Serviceman, Patrick O’Neil re red on February 1, 2013. Soon a er, David Fisher, WRT Combina on Tech and long- me Center Area Servicman, re red on February 26, 2013. We will greatly miss both Pat and Dave and are thankful for their combined 76 years of dedica on at WRT.

As a result of recent re rements, several WRT employees have changed posi ons within the company. In our business it’s more like “musical ladders” than “musical chairs”. Let’s begin - Pat & Dave re red. Mike took Pat’s spot. Jordan took Mike’s spot. Evan took Jordan’s spot. Travis took Evan’s spot. Then Jarre took Dave’s spot. Plus we welcomed Dan & Jesse back. WHEW! Did you follow all of that? For a few more details, please read on...
