2G Cutover Scenario

Aims– Transport 2G traffic over 8600’s (El Haram - 3rd District) – Protect the traffic going over the redundant links

Agenda– Issues affecting the cutover– Proposed Solutions– Conclusion (Agree a new cutover date and ways forward)

Cutover Issues

Deviation from HLD/LLD/Pilot Test Cases/Workorder– New Requirement for long term troubleshooting– Differences in Connectivity/Topology– Differences in Protection Scheme

Slow DCN to El Haram– Third party recommendations for the Management System

Flapping Third Party Microwave

Possible Solutions #1

2 Hop Tunnel without ELP– Explanation

2 Tunnels configured as LSP 1+1 over the two hops with working tunnel going over Microwave link #1 and GE link #1 and protection tunnel going over Microwave link #2 and GE link #2

– Advantages Can check which tunnel the PWE is taking in the

‘check operation status’ option in VPN provisioning Faster switching times

– Disadvantages ELP not configured on the GE links

Possible Solutions #2

RSVP 1:1 with ELP– Explanation

Tunnel configured over the two hops with primary path as the working path (i.e. Microwave link #1 and worker - GE link) and secondary path as the protection path (i.e. Microwave link #2 and worker GE link)

– Advantages ELP configuration on the GE link between 8101 and

8102 remains– Disadvantages

RSVP switching times slow compared to LSP1+1

Conclusion

Decide on the best possible solution for the cutover. Extensively test and verify the solution on site, using

Analyser/Test BTS (24hrs Stability Test) Execute the cutover Update the Design document with all the information

retrieved from the pilot testing and the first cutover. 3G Traffic scenario will be influenced by the proposed

solutions. Design will need to be updated and verified in pilot test.
