From your Family Readiness Officer

Congratulations on your pregnancy!

Early pregnancy is when the fun begins, despite what some may have told you. This is where you get to start celebrating

your pregnancy and telling the world your big news, whether you tell them right away or wait awhile. The problem is,

many women aren't sure what the next step is after their pregnancy is confirmed. This guide provides a handy list of

things to do when the test is positive!

Whether you're talking to your family, old friends or new, the support you receive is a must-have for pregnant women.

So much will change in your life and you'll have so many questions. You will need to surround yourself with people to

help you answer the questions and gain the knowledge you need. Sometimes that will be your midwife or doctor and

other times that will be your friends and family. Consider finding others who are due when you are due to share the

ups and downs of pregnancy. Some of the classes listed within will help you do just that.

Most of all, enjoy your pregnancy! After all, it's only nine or ten months, depending on how you count...

Please let me know if I can be of assistance along the way. I sincerely hope you have a wonderful and healthy

pregnancy!

Lisa Montanez

Legal Documents (i.e. Wills and Powers of Attorney)

These documents are extremely important, particularly for those Service Members with family members. The primary

purpose of a will is to ensure that minor children are cared for and personal property is distributed as you desire.

Without a will, the state law decides how personal property is distributed and if children are involved, they could

possibly become wards of the state. It is important that an individual’s will reflect his / her current state of affairs, so

keeping it up to date is critical. Overlooking this important document could directly affect the security of your family.

The Legal Assistance Center is located in Building 172 on Santo Domingo Street on Parris Island Monday through Friday

from 0730-1130 and 1300-1630. To contact the Law Center call 843-228-2559/2925.
