The obstacle light is an extension of the Vega VLB-67 LED Beacon range for applications where a wide asymmetrical vertical profi le is required. This profi le meets the requirements of the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) for Type A & B obstacle lights.• Beacon spread of 10° at 50% peak
intensity.• Peak intensity at 8° above horizontal.• Programmed intensity occurs at +6°
and +10° above the horizontal.• 10CD programmed for ICAO Type A
hazard light• 32CD programmed for ICAO Type B
hazard light• Has conspicuity between 0 and 50°
above the horizontal.
The VLB-67 LED Light has marine applications where an asymmetrical vertical profi le would be useful in marking bridges and other hazards. In these applications, the VLB-67 Obstacle Light can be mounted upside down to beam the light downwards from the horizontal.
The obstacle light is available in 5 colours: red, green, white, yellow, and blue. All colours meet IALA chromaticity recommendation.
The VLB-67 LED Light is a feature rich product that has been designed to provide fl exibility in the use of the product.
There are additional options that can be included at that time of order.• RS-232 or RS-485 Data Port• GPS synchronisation• Hard wire synchronisation for
Self Contained unit (standard on Standalone unit)
• Hard wire synchronisation converter (to work with positive transition sync signals)
• Alarm/monitor wire (beacon healthy)• External charging plug
The design life of the VLB-67 LED Light is 12 years. Features include:• 3 or 4-hole mounting on a 200 PCD• Waterproof body to IP68
The base of the VLB-67 LED Light contains a waterproof cavity that can be used to extend the functionality of the beacon. On the Standalone unit this space may be used for the fi tting of a power supply to create a mains powered lantern (Base will take a Traco AC/DC converter, RS component part # RS 3221840).
SOLAR POWER OPTIONSThe VLB-67 LED Light is available with solar power packs to operate as a self contained unit, options:• Standard solar (SS)• Large solar (LS) for high latitude or
high duty applications. This model is available with 2 battery options 12Ah and 24Ah.

The Standard Self Contained (SS) unit has been sized to allow the VLB-67 LED Light to be used over a wide range of locations and applications.
For applications that need a bit more solar and battery capability the Large Self Contained unit (LS) is available. This option allows the beacon to be used in high latitude and high duty applications.
The VLB-67 solar power pack is available as stand alone unit VPP-67. This allows the light to be mounted separate from the power pack.
The Self Contained unit uses a long life GEL lead acid battery capable of being charged down to a temperature of -20° Celsius.
Vega provides a web based VLB-67 selection calculator allowing customers to confi rm the beacons suitability at a • particular location• range• colour, and• flash character

For application requiring larger solar power that available from a VLB-67 solar power pack, a larger VPP-66 solar power pack is abailable.

The obstacle light can be mounted on or separated from the VPP-66 power pack.
EASY PROGRAMMINGThere are two methods of programming the VLB-67 LED Light :
1. Using the Vega TVIR programmer (Remote-02). This allows the beacon to be programmed one feature at a time. The VLB-67 confirms the settings by flashing the programming code back to the user.
2. Using a computer and the IRDA interface (Prog-01). This allows all the VLB-67 settings can be displayed on a screen and downloaded or retrieved in a single action.
