Olympics years are always good for

    thesportof swimming(really,itis the

only $me that your neighbors are

    probablywatching swimming on TV),

    and that excitementhascarriedover

to VJO in a few great ways: our

    successfulMutualofOmahaBreakOut

    Swim Clinic with Olympian Dana

    Vollmer and Andy Grant, increased

    membe r sh ip , two f orme r V JO

    swimmers inOlympic Trials (and one

on the relay team), and a vivid

    reminderoftheimportanceofseng

    goalsandworkinghard. Thisyearwe

    haveseengoodresultsfromallofour

hard work: our swimmers are faster,

our meets are well-run and aract

    huge numbers of swimmers, our

    coaches standonthedeck insunand

rain, coaxing the best out of the

    athletes,andourpar$es andpotlucks

bring the team together in ways

    beyondwhatdailyprac$cecando.

I would like to thank all of you:

    coaches, board members , team

    captains, volunteers, and swimmers

for all you have done to make VJO

great. There are moments where it

    might seem thankless: vigilantly

    guarding official and coaches parking

    atdark-thirtyinthemorning,baling

wind and rain to set up canopies,

    feeding thelunch$mehordesasthey

descend on the Shark Cafe, and so

forth, but rest assured that each of

    thesetasksisvitallyimportanttothe

team. Without your hard work, we

    wouldnotbewhereweare.

I finish my term happy that the ne

    boardseemsreadyandabletosteerth

administra$on of the team, and I wis

    DwightEvereallthebestinhisyeara

president. I urge all of our parents t

support the board by volunteering t

help the team run. There are amp

opportuni$es to serve the team a

sport. The new boardwill have specifi

    requests for $me, dona$ons, an
