    Avoid using dropped or damaged appliances. I yourTV is dropped and the housing is damaged, the internalcomponents may unction abnormally. Unplug the powercord immediately and contact your dealer or repair.Continued use o your TV may cause re or electricshock.

    Do not install your TV in an area with heavy dust or highhumidity. Operating your TV in environments with heavydust or high humidity may cause re or electric shock.

    Follow instructions or moving your TV. Ensure that thepower cord and any other cables are unplugged be oremoving your TV.

    When unplugging your TV, hold the AC/DC poweradapter, not the cord. Pulling on the power cord maydamage the wires inside the cord and cause re orelectric shock. When your TV will not be used or anextended period o time, unplug the power cord.

    A ter removing the TV rom the box and inspecting the packagecontents you can begin installing the TV. Your TV can be installedin two ways:

    On a at sur ace, using the included stand On a wall, using a VESA-standard wall mount (not

    included)

    Your TV includes a stand designed to support the weight o theTV and keep it rom alling over. However, the TV can sti ll all over i :

    It is placed on an uneven, unstable, or non-level sur ace It is pushed, pulled, or otherwise improperly moved I an earthquake occurs and the TV is not properly

    To install the TV stand:

    1. Place the TV screen-down on a clean, at sur ace. To preventscratches or damage to the screen, place the TV on a so tsur ace, such as carpet, rug, or blanket.

    2. Attach the stand neck by inserting and tightening the 4included hex screws.

    3. Align the base with the stand neck.

    4. Tighten the thumbscrew into the base.

    5. Move the TV with attached stand into an upright positionand place on a at, level, and stable sur ace.

    6. To ensure proper ventilation, leave at least 1 o spacebetween the back o the TV and any other objects (walls,etc).

    Installing the TV on a Wall

    To mount your TV on a wall, you will need a wall mount. Consultthe in ormation below to fnd the appropriate mount or your TVmodel:

    Installing a TV on a wall requires li ting. To preventinjury or damage to the TV, ask someone to help you.

    Be sure the mount you choose is capable o supporting theweight o the TV. A ter you have determined that you have thecorrect mount or your TV, you can begin the installation.

    To install yovur TV on a wall:

    1. Disconnect any cables connected to your TV.

    2. Place the TV ace-down on a clean, at, stable sur ace.

    Be sure the sur ace is clear o debris that can scratch ordamage the TV.

    3. Remove the base by loosening and removing the screws.

    4. Attach your TV and wall mount to the wall, care ully ollowingthe instructions that came with your mount.

    Use only with a UL-listed wall mount bracket rated or theweight/load o this TV. See Appendix A - Specifcations orthe weight o this TV.

    Replacing the Batteries

    Replacing Batteries

    1. Remove the battery cover.

    2. Insert two batteries into the remote control. Make sure thatthe (+) and (-) symbols on the batteries match the (+) and(-) symbols inside the battery compartment.

    3. Replace the battery cover.

    Use only good quality batteries. Inserting the batteries incorrectly may result in

    cracking or leakage that may cause a fre orresult in injury.

    Dispose o old or dead batteries in accordancewith local hazardous waste regulations.

    Completing the First-Time Setup

    The frst time you turn on the TV, the Setup App will guide youthrough each o the steps necessary to get your TV ready or use.

    Be ore you begin the frst-time setup: Your TV should be ins talled and the power cord should

    be connected to an electrical outlet. Your devices should be connected.

    To complete the frst-time setup:

    1. Press the Power/Standby button on the remote. The TVpowers on and the Setup Appstarts.

    2. Use the Up/Down Arrow buttons on the remote tohighlight Home Mode Setup and press OK .

    3. Use the OK and Arrow Up/Down buttons on the remoteto highlight Home Mode andpress OK .

    4. Use the OK and Arrow Up/Down buttons on the remote tohighlight your time zone andpress OK .

    5. Answer the on-screen questionsabout your TV connectionusing the Arrow and OK buttons on the remote.

    6. Use the Arrow buttons tohighlight Start the ChannelScan and press OK .

    7. When you have fnished thechannel scan, highlight Exit toLive TV and press OK .

    The First-Time Setup is complete.

    Using the On-Screen Menu

    Your TV eatures an easy-to-use on-screen menu.

    To open the on-screen menu, press the MENU button on theremote.

    From this menu, you can:

    Change the input source Change the screen aspect

    ratio Set up closed captioning Activate the sleep timer Adjust the picture settings Adjust the audio settings Change TV settings

    Access USB photo slideshow Access the help menu

    NavigatiNg the ON-ScreeN MeNU

    To open the on-screen menu, pressthe MENU button on the remote.

    Use the Arrow buttons to highlighta menu option, and press the OK button to select that option.

    While navigating the on-screen menu, you can pressthe BACK button at any time to return to the previousmenu screen. The EXITbutton will close the on-screenmenu.

    External devices such as DVD players, Blu-Ray Players, and videogame consoles can be connected to your TV. To use one o thesedevices with your TV, you must rst change the input source in the

    on-screen menu.To change the input device:

    1. Press the MENU button on theremote. The on-screen menu isdisplayed.

    2. Use the Arrow buttons on theremote to highlight the Settings icon and press OK . The TVSettings menu is displayed.

    3. Use the Up/Down Arrow buttons on the remote tohighlight the input source andpress OK. The Input SourceSelection menu is displayed.

    4. Use the Up/Down Arrow buttons on the remote tohighlight the input source youwish to display. Press OK , then

    press EXIT.

    chaNgiNg the ScreeN aSpect ratiO

    The TV can display images in our di erent modes: Wide, Zoom,Normal, and Stretch. Each mode displays the picture di erently.

    To change the screen aspect ratio:

    1. Press the MENU button on theremote.

    2. Use the Arrow buttons tohighlight the Wide icon. PressOK.

    3. Use the Arrow buttons to highlight your desired screen modeand press OK : Normal preserves the contents original aspect ratio.

    Since the 4:3 aspect ratio is not large enough to ll theTVs screen, black bars are added to the le t and right othe display image.

    Wide stretches a 4:3 aspect ratio picture to the edgeso the screen. Since the picture is being stretched, thedisplay image may appear distorted. I the programis already ormatted or widescreen viewing (1.85:1 or2.35:1), then black bars will appear on the top andbottom o the display image.

    Zoom expands images with black bars to t the screen. Panoramic expands the display image to ll the screen.

    Images may appear wider than intended. I you arewatching widescreen (1.85:1 or 2.35:1) content, blackbars will still appear on the top and bottom o the displayimage. This option is only available when the TV isdisplaying a 480i/480p source.

    SettiNg Up clOSed captiONiNg

    Your TV can display closed captions or programs that includethem. Closed captions display a transcription o a programsdialogue.

    I the program you are viewing is not being broadcastwith closed captions, the TV will not display them.

    To activate or deactivate closedcaptions:

    1. Press the MENU button on theremote. The on-screen menu isdisplayed.

    2. Use the Arrow buttons on theremote to highlight the CC icon and press OK . The ClosedCaption menu is displayed.

    3. Use the Arrow buttons on theremote to highlight the typeo closed captions you wish tosee: Analog Closed Caption or

    analog (NTSC) TV channels. Digital Closed Caption or

    digital (ATSC) TV channels.

    4. A ter highlighting the type o closed captions you wish tosee, use the Le t/Right Arrow buttons on the remote to selectthe caption channel you wish to display, then press EXIT.

    Caption channels usually display di erent languages.For example, CC1 may display English captions andCC2 may display Spanish captions.

    Changing the Appearance o Digital Closed CaptionsDigital closed captions can be displayed according to yourpre erence.

    To change the appearance o digital closed captions:

    1. From the Closed Captionmenu, use the Arrow buttons tohighlight Digital CC Style .

    2. Use the Le t/Right Arrow buttons on the remote to selectCustom , then press OK . TheDigital CC Style menu appears.

    3. Use the Up/Down Arrow buttons on the remote to

    highlight the setting you wishto change, then use the Le t/Right Arrow buttons to changethe setting: Caption Style - Choose

    Auto to keep de aultsettings or Custom tomanually change eachsetting.

    Text Size - Adjust the size o the text. Color - Change the color o the text. Opacity - Change the transparency o the text. BG Color - Change the background color. BG Opacity - Change the transparency o the

    background. Window Color - Change the edge color. Window Opacity - Change the edge type.

    When activated, the TVs sleep timer will turn the TV o a ter a setperiod o time.

    To use the sleep timer:

    1. Press the MENU button on theremote. The on-screen menu isdisplayed.

    2. Use the Arrow buttons on theremote to highlight the SleepTimer icon and press OK. TheSleep Timer menu is displayed.

    3. Use the Up/Down Arrow

    Setting the Auto Power O FeatureTo help save energy, your TV is set by de ault to turn o a ter 10minutes i no signal is being displayed on the screen. This eaturecan be deactivated.

    To set the Auto Power O eature:

    1. From the Sleep Timer menu, use the Up/Down Arrow buttonson the remote to highlight Auto Power O and press OK . The

    Auto Power-O menu is displayed.2. Highlight O or 10 min and press OK. Press Exit.

    Your TV display can be adjusted to suit your pre erences andviewing conditions.

    To adjust the picture settings:

    1. Press the MENU button on theremote. The on-screen menu isdisplayed.

    2. Use the Arrow buttons on theremote to highlight the Picture icon and press OK . The PictureSettings menu is displayed.

    3. Use the Up/Down Arrow

    various picture settings tovalues that will producethe best picture in themost cases. This is therecommended setting.

    Movie mode sets the picture settings to values per ect orwatching a movie in a dark room.

    Game mode optimizes the picture settings or displayinggame console output.

    Vivid mode sets the picture settings to values thatproduce a brighter, more vivid picture.

    Football , Gol , Basketball , and Baseball modes optimizethe picture settings or their respective sports. Also trythese modes or other sports.

    Custom picture mode allows you to manually changeeach o the picture settings:

    Backlight - Adjusts the brightness to a ect the overallbrilliance o the picture. This option is not availableunless Ambient Light Sensor is set to OFF. See onpage 23 .Brightness - Adjusts the black level o the picture.When this setting is too low, the picture may be toodark to distinguish details. When this setting is toohigh, the picture may appear aded or washed out.Contrast - Adjusts the white level o the picture. When

    this setting is too high, the picture may appear dark.When this setting is too low, the picture may appearaded or washed out. I the setting is too high or too

    low, detail may be di cult to distinguish in dark orbright areas o the picture.Color - Adjusts the intensity o the picture colors.

    Tint - Adjusts the hue o the picture. This setting isuse ul in adjusting the fesh tones in the picture. I feshappears too orange, reduce the level o color be oreadjusting tint.Sharpness - Adjusts the edge sharpness o pictureelements. It can be used to sharpen non-HD (highde nition) content; however, it will not produce detailthat does not otherwise exist.

    Adjusting the Advanced Picture SettingsTo adjust the advanced picturesettings:

    1. From the Picture Settings menu,use the Arrow buttons on theremote to highlight More , thenpress OK.

    2. Use the Arrow buttons on theremote to highlight AdvancedPicture , then press OK. TheAdvanced Picture menu isdisplayed.

    Adaptive Luma - Adjusts the average brightness o thepicture to compensate or large areas o brightness.Select O , Low, Medium, Strong, or Extend.

    Film Mode - Optimizes the picture or watching lm.Select Auto or O .

    Backlight Control - Select O , DCR (Dynamic ContrastRatio), or OPC.

    Ambient Light Sensor - The ambient light sensor detectsthe light levels in the room and automatically adjusts thebacklight or the best picture. Select O , Low, Medium, orHigh.

    4. When you have nished adjusting the Advanced Picture

    Adjusting the Color TemperatureAdjusting the color temperature will change the warmness orcoolness o the white areas o the picture.

    To adjust the color temperature:

    1. From the Picture Settings Menu,use the Arrow buttons tohighlight More , then press OK.

    2. Use the Arrow buttons onthe remote to highlight ColorTemperature , then press OK.The Color Temperature menu isdisplayed.

    4. I you want to reset the color temperatures to the actoryde ault settings, highlight Reset Color Temperature andpress OK.

    Adjusting the Picture Size and PositionWhen displaying an image rom the HDMI or RGB input, the sizeand position o the display image can be adjusted.

    Changing the Input Source

    3. Highlight Input Source and press OK. The Input Source menuis displayed.

    4. Highlight the input source you want to display and press OK .

    Setting the Tuner ModeI you are using a device that is connected to the RF input, suchas an external antenna or cable TV connection, you must set thetuner mode.

    1. Press the MENU button on the remote. The on-screen menu isdisplayed.

    2. Use the Arrow buttons on the remote to highlight theSettings icon and press OK . The Settings menu is displayed.

    3. Highlight Tuner and press OK. The Tuner Mode menu isdisplayed.

    Scanning or ChannelsBe ore the TV can detect and display channels and theirassociated in ormation, you must scan or channels. A channelscan may also be necessary when the TV has been moved to anarea where di erent ree-to-air broadcast television channels areavailable.

    1. From the Tuner Settings menu,highlight Auto Channel Scan .The auto channel scan begins.

    2. Wait until the channel scan is100% complete. Highlight Done and press OK .

    Adding New ChannelsOccasionally, you may need to add a new analog channel oradd a new range o channels. You can do this by using the Par tialChannel Search and Add Analog Channel options.

    To add a range o new channels:

    1. From the Tuner menu, highlight Partial Channel Search . ThePartial Channel Search menu is displayed.

    2. Highlight Scan Mode and select the type o channel youare adding: Analog/Digital, Analog , or Digital .

    3. Highlight From Channel and enter the channel rom whichyou want to begin the scan. (Use the Number Pad on theremote to enter the channel.)

    4. Highlight To Channel and enter the channel to which youwant to end the scan. (Use the Number Pad on the remoteto enter the channel.)

    5. Highlight Start and press OK. The par tial channel searchbegins.

    6. Wait until the partial channel search is 100% complete.Highlight Done and press OK.

    7. Press the EXITbutton on the remote.

    To add a single new analog channel:

    1. From the Tuner Settings menu,highlight Add Analog Channeland press OK . The Add AnalogChannel menu is displayed.

    2. Highlight Enter Channel # anduse the Number Pad on theremote to enter the number othe channel you are adding.

    3. Highlight Add Channel andpress OK. The TV scans or thechannel.

    4. When the TV is done scanningor the channel, press the EXIT

    button on the remote.

    Skipping ChannelsA ter a channel scan is completed, you may nd that somechannels are too weak to watch com ortably. There may also besome channels you do not want to view. You can remove thesechannels rom the TVs memory with the Skip Channel eature.

    Channels that have been removed with the SkipChannel eature can still be viewed i the channelis entered using the Number Pad. I you wish tocompletely block a channel rom being viewed, usethe parental controls. See Using the Parental Controls on page 31 .

    To remove a channel:

    1. From the Tuner Settings menu,highlight Skip Channel .The Skip Channel menu isdisplayed.

    2. For each channel you wishto remove, use the Up/DownArrow buttons on the remoteto highlight the channel andpress OK. An X appears to theright o each channel youselect.

    3. When you have selected allo the channels you wish toremove, press the EXITbuttonon the remote.

    Changing the Audio LanguageSome digital ree-to-air and cable channels broadcast programsin more than one language. The TVs MTS (Multichannel TelevisionSound) eature allows you to listen to audio in your pre erredlanguage.

    Not all programs are broadcast in multiplelanguages. The MTS eature only works when theprogram being viewed is being broadcast in thelanguage you select.

    To use the Analog MTS eature:

    1. From the Tuner Settings menu,highlight Analog MTS andpress OK. The Analog MTS menu is displayed.

    2. Select Mono , Stereo , orSAP (secondary audioprogramming). Press OK.

    3. Press the EXITbutton on theremote.

    To use the Digital MTS eature:

    1. From the Tuner Settings menu,highlight Digital MTS and pressOK. The Digital MTS menu isdisplayed.

    2. Select your pre erred language:English , French , or Spanish .Press OK .

    3. Press the EXITbutton on theremote.

    Using the Parental ControlsThe TVs parental controls allow you to prevent the TV romdisplaying certain channels or programs without a password.

    Accessing the Parental Controls Menu

    To access the Parental Controls menu:1. Press the MENU button on the remote. The on-screen menu is

    displayed.

    2. Use the Arrow buttons on the remote to highlight the Settings icon and press OK . The TV Settings menu isdisplayed.

    3. Use the Arrow buttons on the remote to highlight ParentalControls and press OK .

    4. Enter your parental passcode. I you have not set apasscode, enter the de ault, 0000 . The Parental Controlsmenu is displayed.

    To set a custom parental passcode, see Changing the Parental Control Passcode on page 32 .

    Enabling or Disabling Program RatingsTo manage program content according to its rating, you mustenable the Program Rating eature.

    To enable or disable the Program Rating eature:

    1. From the Parental Controls menu, highlight Rating Enable and press OK . The Rating Enable menu is displayed.

    2. Select On or O and press OK.

    Locking and Unlocking ChannelsWhen a channel is locked, it will be inaccessible. Lockinga channel is a good way to prevent children rom viewinginappropriate material.

    To lock or unlock a channel:

    1. From the Parental Controls menu, highlight Channel Locks and press OK . The Channel Locks menu is displayed.

    2. Highlight the channel you want to lock or unlock and pressOK.

    3. When a channel is locked , the Lock icon appears locked .The channel is not accessible unless the parental passcodeis entered.

    4. When a channel is unlocked , the Lock icon appearsunlocked . The channel is accessible.

    Blocking and Unblocking Content by RatingA channel may sometimes broadcast programs that are meant

    or children, and at other times broadcast programs that aremeant or mature audiences. You may not want to block thechannel completely using a channel lock, but you may wish to

    block certain programs rom being viewed.When this is the case, you can use the TVs Rating Block eatureto block content based on its rating.

    For a list o content ratings and their de nitions, visitwww.tvguidelines.org.

    To block or unblock content by its rating:

    1. From the Parental Controls menu, highlight the content typeyou want to adjust and press OK:

    USA - TV- USA television program broadcasts.

    USA - Movie - USA movie broadcasts.

    CAN - English - Canadian English television programbroadcasts.

    CAN - French - Canadian French television program

    broadcasts.2. For each rating type you want to block or unblock, use the

    Up/Down and Le t/Right Arrow buttons on the remote tohighlight the rating type and press OK.

    3. When the rating type is blocked , the Lock icon appearslocked . Content with this rating cannot be viewed.

    4. When the rating type is unblocked , the Lock icon appearsunlocked . Content with this rating can be viewed.

    5. I you want to block all unrated content, highlight BlockUnrated Shows and use the Arrow buttons on the remote to

    select On .

    6. When you are nished adjusting the rating level blocks, pressthe EXITbutton on the remote.

    Changing the Parental Control Passcode

    I you use the parental controls, you should change the passcodeto prevent children rom accessing inappropriate material.

    1. From the Parental Controls menu, highlight Change PIN andpress OK. The Change PIN menu is displayed.

    2. In the New Pin eld, use the Number Pad on the remote toenter your new 4-digit parental control passcode.

    3. In the Confrm Pin eld, use the Number Pad on the remoteto re-enter your new 4-digit parental control passcode.

    4. Write down your new parental control passcode and save itin a secure location.

    5. Press the EXITbutton on the remote.

    Resetting the Content LocksTo reset the content locks to the actory-de ault settings:

    1. From the Parental Controls menu, highlight RESET LOCKSandpress OK. The TV displays, Are you sure you want to RESET ALL

    LOCKS SETTINGS to the actory de aults?2. Highlight Yes and press OK.

    Changing the Names o the InputsTo make it easier to recognize the di erent devices attached tothe inputs on your TV, you can rename the inputs. For example, iyou have a DVD player connected to the Component input, youcan rename that input to display DVD Player.

    To change the name o an input:

    1. Press the MENU button on theremote. The on-screen menu isdisplayed.

    2. Use the Arrow buttons on theremote to highlight the Settings icon and press OK . The Settingsmenu is displayed.

    3. Use the Arrow buttons on theremote to highlight NameInput and press OK. The NameInput menu is displayed.

    4. Highlight Input Source andpress OK. Highlight the inputyou want to rename and pressOK.

    5. I you would like to use a preset input label, highlight Input

    Labels and press OK. Highlight the input label you want touse and press OK.

    I you would like to name the input yoursel , highlight the eldbelow Input Labels and enter your custom label using theon-screen keyboard and press OK. (I you would like to usethe on-screen keyboard instead, highlight Show Keyboard and press OK .)

    6. When you have nished naming your input, press the EXIT button on the remote.

    Changing the On-Screen Menu LanguageYour TV can display the on-screen menu in di erent languages.

    To change the on-screen menu language:

    Setting the Time ZoneTo ensure the correct time is displayed when you press the INFObutton, set the TVs time zone:

    To have the TV display the correct time, you must be

    connected to the internet via an Ethernet cable or awireless network.

    1. Press the MENU button on theremote. The on-screen menu isdisplayed.

    2. Use the Arrow buttons on theremote to highlight the Settings icon and press OK . The Settingsmenu is displayed.

    3. Use the Arrow buttons on theremote to highlight Time &Local Settings and press OK.The Time & Local Settings menuis displayed.

    Restoring the TV to Factory De ault SettingsAll o the on-screen menu settings can be reset to the actoryde aults.

    I you restore the TV to the actory de ault settings, all

    changes you have made to the settings will be lost!

    To restore the TV to its actory de ault settings:

    1. Press the MENU button on the remote. The on-screen menu isdisplayed.

    2. Use the Arrow buttons on the remote to highlight the Help icon and press OK . The Help menu is displayed.

    3. Highlight Clear Memory (Factory De ault) and press OK.

    4. Enter your parental control passcode. I you have not yet setup a parental passcode, enter the de ault, 0000 .

    The TV displays, Are you sure you would like to RestoreDe aults? This will erase any custom settings.

    5. Highlight Yes and press OK. The TV displays Memory is beingcleared. The TV will reset shortly.

    6. Wait or the TV to turn o . The TV will turn back on shortlya terward and the Setup App will begin.

    Using Guided SetupThe TVs Setup App can be used to easily set up the TV tuner.

    To access guided setup:

    1. Press the MENU button on the

    Connecting a USB Thumb Drive to the TV

    Playing USB Media

    To play USB media, you must frst save your photos onto a USBthumb drive.

    Remember:

    The USB thumb drive must be ormatted as FAT32. Files on the USB thumb drive must end in a supported fle

    extension (.jpg). The player is not designed to play media rom external

    hard drives or mp3 players.

    To play your USB media:

    1. Connect your USB thumb drive to the USB port on the side othe TV.

    2. Highlight the Media App and press OK . The Media Applaunches.

    3. Highlight your USB device in the list and press OK .

    4. Highlight the type o media you wish to display: Photo . PressOK .

    5. Use the Arrow buttons to highlight the fle you want todisplay. Press OK . The fle plays.
