SUMMARY OF THE

PROJECT

“BETA: Bringing Europe Together through Art” is an 8-day youth exchange that will involve a total of

37 participants and 1 support staff from the EU and the Western Balkans region (Bosnia and Herzegovina,

Italy, Portugal, Serbia, Turkey, Czech Republic) each of the six countries represented by a group of 5 young people and

one group leader experienced in working with youth and knowledgeable about the subjects addressed in the project. It will be organized from 10th to 17th October in Olomouc, a city rich in culture and history. The project will focus on topics such as inclusion and equality, anti-discrimination and xenophobia, using art in its various forms as a way to make these subjects relatable to young people. It will be preceded by an Advanced Planning Visit from 23th to 25th September that will involve 6 group leaders and 1 young person from the Czech Republic. In this project, we want to bring members of today’s young generation of Europe together and get them thinking about social inclusion, what it means and how beneficial inclusive societies are to an individual, through creative methods and techniques that will put them at the center of their learning process, using a universal language that has been connecting people since the dawn of civilization – art. Through various activities that will follow the methodology of non-formal education, the participants will be able to unleash their creativity and actively experience different forms of art while exploring the issues and challenges surrounding social inclusion. Our main aim is to deeply reflect on, raise awareness of and fight barriers to inclusion in the European society, all in the spirit of the European values of brotherhood and solidarity.

PARTICIPANTS’PROFILE

We are looking for young people who want to spread

the message of inclusion in their communities but lack the

necessary motivation or incentive. Their main need is the desire to

perpetuate the values of equality and universal human rights based on their

personal experience and the lack of a universal medium that transcends boundaries and that

everyone can connect with, regardless of their background. They do not necessarily have an artistic

background but are keen on art and not afraid to “unleash” their creativity. The group leaders should be youth

leaders or youth workers interested in the topic of social inclusion for personal and professional reasons who want to

develop their facilitation skills by leading activities on the subject and exchanging experience with other group leaders from different parts of Europe. They should have some previous experience with the main topic as well as artistic expression in general in order to be able to facilitate sessions. All participants must be at least 18 years of age upper limit is 30 years.

WORKINGMETHODS

The methodology of the TC will be non-formal education. Non-formal education is purposive but voluntary learning that takes place in a diverse range of environments and situations for which teaching/training and learning is not necessarily their sole or main activity. These environments and situations may be temporary, and the activities or courses that take place may be staffed by professional learning facilitators (such as youth trainers) or by volunteers (such as youth leaders). The activities and courses are planned, but are seldom structured by conventional rhythms or curriculum subjects. They usually address specific target groups, but rarely document or assess learning outcomes or achievements in conventionally visible ways. All participants are entitled to receive a Youthpass certificate – a document that recognizes the learning outcomes of the participants of Erasmus+ projects.
