VITERBI GRADUATE MENTORSHIP PROGRAM 2015 The Office of Graduate and Professional Programs (GAPP) is pleased to announce the Viterbi Graduate Mentorship Program 2015. The program is designed to help new graduate students adjust more quickly to life at USC by pairing new students with current Viterbi graduate students. We are seeking volunteer mentors to help provide support to incoming masters and Ph.D. students in their academic programs. Mentors’ Benefits: It is an excellent way of expanding your personal & professional network through making new friends from all over the world and build lifelong relationships. It’s a great way of giving back to the Viterbi School by helping other Trojans. It’s a project that can show interpersonal communication and leadership skills that can enrich your experiences at USC. Mentors will get support from the GAPP office for various social events and gifts. Responsibilities: Each mentor will be assigned 1-2 new graduate students in their academic department at the same degree level. Your email address will be shared with mentees, and you are expected to provide them with general advice on graduate student life. A 30-minute information session (on campus or online) will be scheduled for mentors before the mentees are assigned. (Details to be announced after mentors are selected). Mentorship will begin with email correspondence before the students arrive on campus. The partnership will continue throughout the new students’ first semester. Be prompt with e-mail and answer any questions the student might have. Mentors are expected to meet and greet the mentees at one of the Viterbi Welcome Week events (8/18 – 8/28). Mentors are not expected to give specific academic advisement or tutoring. All successful mentors will be awarded a certificate of recognition from the Viterbi School of Engineering. Interested?
