3D Graphics & visualisation Geographical Information Systems
(GIS) This project is to create a cutting edge desktop/online system for building planning. The application will visualise in 3d new design proposals from any angle in real time. It will allow designs to be updated and reviewed rapidly by developers, planners, rights of light surveyors, historic building specialists, and related professionals revolutionising the way in which architectural designs are considered, dramatically speeding up and improving the early design and planning processes. Key research enabling this are:
• Capturing 3D raw data using digital aerial photographs / videos
• Filtering large scale data using
• build graphical model from this
• build relational spatial database for postcode
• 3D web presence
Application:
– Property industry – 3D gaming industry – 3D digital map provider – Environmental planning organization – Metropolitan Police – Insurance company
Projects:
– GMJ Design Ltd. – Foley Cooke Associates
Events:– International Conference Visualisation in
Built and Rural Environments– GeoAnalytics
Forensic / Survillance Digital Imaging
This project is to establish a frame work for possible future standards in CCTV imaging used in overt public domain based on the research trend such as:
• Optimal CCTV – number of camera requirement without compromising the standard.
• Frame rate – temporal attributes Vs. spatial and tonal resolution.
• Range vs. resolution constraint.• Image enhancement:• Multiple video frame• Non-uniform interpolation using local
shift vector• Brightness and colour correction• Zoom and rotate• Field alignment• Filters
Projects:
– Telnet Plc
Events:– Cgiv08 – FDI - Forensic Digital

Pixel Level Graphics ResearchSeries research projects that focus on the key attributes of image such as spatial, tonal and temporal domains which are the ingredients of any digital image. This research is fundamental to designing graphics tools and image processing software but also graphics hardware. The following are:
• Incremental Drawing algorithm
– Single-, double-, …n-level stepping– Square-, diagonal-move– Parametric or non-parametric approach– Rendering General Parametric Conic
Curves by using Taylor Series Approximation
• Anti-aliased curve rendering– General Rendering and Anti-aliasing
Algorithms for Conic Sections • Tonal, Spatial and temporal interchange-
ability for digital imaging
