Plywood
• Plywood is made of several thin solid layers of wood that are pressed and glued together in a similar way to OSB. This leaves a nicer looking wood veneer as the exposed surface in comparison to OSB.
• Veneer-refers to thin slices of wood, usually thinner than1/8 inch, that are typically glued onto core panels to produce flat panels
![Page 61: Visual Dictionary-Sp10Hardwood](https://reader037.fdocuments.in/reader037/viewer/2022102721/54c0ba3e4a7959730b8b458a/html5/thumbnails/61.jpg)
Rebar
• Rebar is cylindrical steel with rigdes forged into the surface to create friction in the concrete. The rebar adds the tensile strength to the slab that concrete alone lacks.
• The rebar pictured here is #5 or 5/8” rebar.
![Page 62: Visual Dictionary-Sp10Hardwood](https://reader037.fdocuments.in/reader037/viewer/2022102721/54c0ba3e4a7959730b8b458a/html5/thumbnails/62.jpg)
Steep Roof Drainage
• Gutter-Directs water from the roof to the downspout
• Downspout-Carries water to the ground where it is dumped out away from pathways and where it helps drainage.
• Splashblock-Disperses the water as it hits the ground, usually made of concrete, helps prevent eroding.
![Page 63: Visual Dictionary-Sp10Hardwood](https://reader037.fdocuments.in/reader037/viewer/2022102721/54c0ba3e4a7959730b8b458a/html5/thumbnails/63.jpg)
