In 2001 the Government of Russia approved the construction of a deepwater port in the Kaliningrad region by the Federal Target Program “Development of transport system of Russia (2010 – 2015)” (approved by the Government of the Russian Federation, December 5, 2001 № 848)

Opinion of different researchers: the construction of a deepwater port greatly change the state of the environment and increase the human pressure.The construction and operation may adversely affect the water quality and biodiversity of the Vistula Lagoon.Also problems with dredging of the canal will be. Because difference between the average depth of the Lagoon (2.5 m) and the canal (18 m) is very big.

Conclusions
Scientific expertise in geomorphology, sedimentary, hydrography, land hydrology, meteorology will make for each small harbors of the Russian part of the Vistula Lagoon.
Construction and operation of the port will lead to major changes in natural conditions, the Vistula Lagoon.
